Peavey takes us back in time with Whitesnake shredder Adrian Vandenberg's signature model. With premium appointments and a premium price tag, is the guitarist of 2024 ready to go back to the 80's?
"Doesn't fit on every stage" is only true until you plug in, play something amazing, and everyone's looking at your fingers and hearing your tone. 56 years old and love pointy guitars!!!
@@blueslawyer That's funny. I sat in once with a band that plays old classics with a horn section and all. Brought my Japanese DK2 Pro. The guitar player seriously asked if I wanted to use his guitar instead so I "wouldn't look goofy up there". I said nah, mine sounds better than yours...
@@Fast2Whls My old guitar teacher once bought a Gretsch. I couldn't use one because of the size and the problem of feedback due to that big, practically hollow body with high gain metal distortion, but that wide, slim flat neck profile was a shredder's dream.
Friend of mine had one of the first Vandenberg guitars. My friend had an accident that rendered him almost quadriplegic and he let me play his Vander many times working with him post trauma. He still figured how to write and play music via hybrid computer with support from friends playing guitars and dubbing instruments so it was a blessing to work with him and his talent. Regarding his Vandenberg guitar.....It was definitely a speed player and very comfortable for many particular hands. I'm kinda that long fingered similar build to Vai. Many may relate. I am talk and lanky and for some reason SG's are my most comfortable feel. Anyway, It really is a great old axe. Reissue thing is a nice thing to hear.
That's a wonderful story and it's fortunate he has such supportive friends. Hopefully we will get a Vandy to play. My SG is my #1 guitar too... Like an extension of my hands.
The original Vendenberg guitar was the ESP horizon custom. I own one. There's no way the Peavey is going to measure up to that. All through neck. 3 layer body. Ebony fingerboard. Plays like a beast. They sell for $5000.
My first guitar was a turquoise peavey raptor. I saved up 200$ to buy it at our local pawn shown. My father decided to completely destroy it in one of his manic rage fits. Thanks dad. Now I’m able to afford awesome pieces, no asshole around to destroy them.
@@blueslawyer I had a choice at the time... buy the Vandenberg or the Destiny... I want to be me, so I bought the Destiny as they both played awesome. I've never bought a guitar because of the endorsement. Even the Gibsons I own are non-endorsed. Was it known if they Vandenberg going to be a US made product??
I'm pretty sure they are made in the same USA factory as the HP2 guitars, but I don't see any country of origin on the info we found. For $3k, I would hope they would be made in America.
That's great! My #1 is a Peavey Penta, but I pay the Classic 30 a lot. I have a bass cabinet with the Black Widow. I used to have a Mark IV amp as well as a TNT. My first amp was a Basic 112. I gave away my PA head. A lot of Peavey has come through my house! Oh wait, I have a Peavey kids Star Wars guitar (I did a video about it).
Friend of mine in high school (early 90s) had a Vandenberg. I think I played it once or twice and thought it was fine. No clue what he (his parents *ahem*) paid for it. Kind of a shame, as I don't think he ever really took guitar that seriously.
@@blueslawyer You make a fair point. I'd like to redact my statement and now claim that I'd rather watch 500 hours of The Kardashians reality show before I'd buy a Peavy guitar.
@@blueslawyer Well - I enjoy your channel but thanks for being thoughtful. Did either of you buy a Mark Knopfler guitar yesterday? Now that's the kind of guitar I would want!!
@@mikedr1549 sadly, my guitar budget is well below the Mark Knopfler auction price. That being said, I'll play the money for nothing riff at full volume today during my weekly visit to Guitar Center. Thanks for your support!
The old Vandenberg bolt on versions were just a glorified peavey tracer, no idea why they're going for so much money, the quality is just not there, the neck through versions are amazing and worth the premium .
