BACK TO VAN LIFE USA (reuniting with our tiny home)

We're going back to vanlife in the US after more than 2 months abroad. While we’ve been living out of backpacks, our van has been stored in Las Vegas, NV with the hopes that it'll be safe in our absence. We're feeling a lot of excitement about being reunited with our home, but we're also anxious to see if it's still where we left it, and if anything melted or got damaged after spending so much time in the Las Vegas summer heat.

I think your water lines had some air in them from sitting so long. Now that you are using it again, it will probable go away. Welcome home. $115 a day sounds to me like you did good on the budget.

Thanks for telling me what she said, I couldn't hear it and even if I did I still wouldn't get it. Never-never take a rig you love to one of those oil change places. They are idiots. I kept an eye on them the one time I took my work car to. They started it up and the oil was blasting out of the bottom. I ran over 2 of the idiots to shut my engine off b/4 it was destroyed. They had cross threaded the oil filter...Never again!

Couple of things. This time of year is THE best for Zion, Arches and all 5 of Utah's National Parks; 70 degrees and way fewer people! Also, I am still in SLC, just SW of Liberty Park if you guys need water, power or anything else. Thank You a ton for sharing your journey! So fun, entertaining, well filmed and edited! Hope you two are having a blast, that's the most important :)

Next time, drain the water, leave no water stagnant and remove power from the water heater. Come back with fresh water, refill the tanks, allow the hot water heater to fill, then turn the hot water heater on. Stagnant water for an extended period of time in tubing can algaefy and cause clogs.

I really enjoyed the European vacation, saw a lot of places I have been and lots that I had never seen before. For the foreseeable future maybe see how you do with just a bit of snow and some skiing adventures, but mostly stay south and in the sun belt...maybe down in Mexico along the Pacific coast?

what to do: Try some new outdoorsy/dirtbaggy sports; whatever appeals to you. Paragliding, rock climbing, canyoneering, mountain biking, kayaking, rafting, surfing, skiing, longer overnight hikes, sailing, etc.... Most of that is pretty synergistic with both youtube and living in a van. Didn't you already threaten once to try paragliding in Interlaken? There are plenty of places where you can do the same in the US. Including in Utah, assuming you are still there.

Back in 2010 - 2013 when we were living in the rv, we kind of enjoyed the times we had no plans. We'd stay a week or even two at a location and visit a nearby town, hike, sit outside and read... We did make some plans but there was so much to see even in New Mexico, that we spent 6 months just staying at state parks and BLM lands before heading back to the Adirondacks in NY for the summer. Life is yours to choose from, enjoy 😊.

Hi 👋, Jimmy and Natalie , glad you made it back safely and all is well, Thank you for sharing your amazing experience throughout Europe, as for your water heater you might have a airlock in the system, and it will be good if you turn the heater off to stop water, been heated up, probably in an air gap, and run a lot of water through it to see whether it makes a lot of difference before you put the hot water heater back on, similar sort of thing used to happen in my large caravan that I have got in my garden, you might even be able to find some answers on. Yes you’ve guessed it RU-vid, or at least about a Google it put the make a model of your water heater in to Google and see what it says about having problems with it, the other thing that might of happened you might have a hole in your pipe coming from the hot water tank heater, so if you can check your waterline pipes, good luck, see you in the not too distant future hopefully, with some amazing views, I’m stuck in my property at the moment as I do not have sufficient funds to go anywhere, I’ve been in here for nearly 4 years, all I do is to my shopping twice a month, I wander around the countryside, thank you once again for sharing your experiences, you are both amazing couple and looking after each other it’s very very good, I wish you both all that success for the future, stay safe, Phil from the moulin France

As far as shower go, West Marine makes a 5 gallon solar heated shower for use outside. Fill it in the morning, the sun heats it while it's tied on your roof. Hint, it cools off after 2-3 hours so schedule your shower before it cools. Five gal. Should be enough for two, if not by two they are not terribly expensive. After some practice I could take a good (enough) shower with about 2 gallons. Let me know how it goes, I read your posts e everytime.

So glad you're back safe and sound! We loved following you on your European adventure and you gave us ideas on where to go next time we go back to Europe. We met you last year at Skooliepaloosa. Have you ever thought of traveling through the South East? Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi? We were in New Orleans a couple of months ago. There is parking in the warehouse district just off the edge of the French Quarters. (That's the area New Orleans is most famous for. ) We went to hear some great free jazz on Frenchman Street and then had just a short walk to where we parked on St Peters Street. Pro tip: park at the far end of the street because the refrigeration units on the trucks waiting to unload can get noisy at night. Skoolie' will be on January 15 to 22 in '24. Mardi Gras starts on February 9, but I suspect the Boondocking option on St Peter's St. won't be available at that time.

How funny I just stayed in a BLM campsite 9 miles from Bryce Canyon National Park for one night after visiting the park during the day. I left Montana on 10/16 where I live and did a 5 day car camping trip returning 10/20/23. Yes you heard that right 😆...a 2003 Mazda 6 with 223, 335 miles on it when I left. I drove through Yellowstone East Entrance through the South Entrance to see Jenny Lake at Teton National Park, then made my way to Utah seeing 3 National Parks Bryce, Capital Reef, and Arches. Also took the All American road byway 12 through Escalante between Bryce and Capital Reef which was about as epic as the parks. I slept in my back seat (I'm short) and had everything I needed in my trunk such as food, water, clothes, and even a Porta potty 😊. I ended up driving 1868 total miles there and back home. It was amazing. Last year in October I did the same thing in the same car except longer for 13 days and went to Idaho, Oregon, and Washington and stayed on free lands, BLM, NF, National Park, and Rest stop. I loved it ❤. Glad you had a wonderful time on your backpacking trip and got back home safely. Enjoy Utah. It was my first visit there and I certainly did.

Great to see you home and recharging from your travel. Idea's for some videos. Did you bypass things or places in the area. A hike you didn't get to do. Water lines. Also check the in line filters at the spray head. Yes it may just be air in the lines. Is something pressing on the hot water line or the feed line to it.
