Love Jonsered. have 70e that dad and I bought new in the 70's. Sat on the shelf in the basement for close to 20 years. Took it to local Stihl dealer for a once over. Told me the best thing was to use it for a decoration in a man cave. Found Husqvarna dealer in Ripon, WI. gaver the once over. Wow I forgot what a beautiful saw to run. Bucked up one hell of a pile of wood. Fealt 20 years old again. Love your channel
I've got my Dad's 70E as well. No one wants to work on it. I'm trying to get a carb rebuild kit from Tillitson for it. It's probably worth more for parts but I don't want to sell it. I want to use it!
My favorite Jonsered was a 52E used by professional log fallers in NE Oregon. My dad had a saw shop and sold Homelites (back when Homelite had Production saws) and Jonsered. My favorite Homelite was a 924. Jonsereds were fast and very dependable. I bought a Jonsered 2050C for home use and very happy with it and it surprises the neighbors on how fast it cuts. Thanks Tinman for your videos.
Cool to see a Jred, thanks to your buddy for loaning it to the channel. I agree on the freehand filing Tinman, once you learn how to do it, it’s the only way you’ll ever sharpen a chain again.
One of my old buddies dad was a jred dealer from mid 80s thru around 2015 when he retired from logging full-time. Went to hi school 90-94 and remember all the badass saws he was selling back then. Was tons of piece cutters in our area back then
I just picked mine up back in January. It's a 2010 model in basically a demo saw condition so super clean. 300 buks cash from an old friend. I clda cried
Thanks for sharing this! That saw sounds amazing and I really like how you keep it simple with filing. I only use a guide when filing ripping chain at 10 degrees. I cant do that by eye.....but I’m sure someone can!
My 2094 is semiretired. Want to keep it for fun cutting. Built 066 clone ported muffler mod for blocking. Building 2 more for sons they keep threatening to blow up 2094. They are jerks.
Love the Jonny reds been running them since the mid seventies ! Ran the beast 2095 when I had a firewood cutting bussiness, that saw would tucker you out
Thanks Tinman's buddy! That thing is a beast. The biggest saw I have is a Husky 257 I bought new in 1997. It's real low miles on it and stock except for a recent muffler mod, that it really didn't need as it was pretty open from the factory. I just wanted it to sound a little better. I got the power saw fever! I'm up to 15 saws now, just nothing big bore like you have. I even ended up with a couple Partner 55's. Up to this point, I never heard of them before, but they're built in Sweden. I built one from the two. I did a mild port job and machined the base to get my target. 020" squish. I ended up with .0195". I checked the compression before I started and it was 105 psi. Then using the best piston, the best ring, and the machining, brought it up to 155 psi. I'm in the final stages of tuning now. But boy are those Partner saws ugly in my onion. Some of the models look like a boxy looking toy. Lol. Take care Tinman, you inspire me.
Thanks for the demo on that monster! Wish I'd had one last year when I had to flush cut some 2' and 3' dry stumps, but I made do with my Husqvarna 261 and a 16" bar 😛
In my opinion Jonsered saws absolutely destroy the competition in power and rugged reliability. I own two and with any luck will have more like the one your very generous and trusting friend let you barrow. Thanks friend.
Shout out to the owner of the saw! Love the free hand filing once someone learns it its the cats meow, agree less to carry and less mucking around just run that file over it and just send it!
@@andyd9199 yep that's why I only get old school jonsered saws, nothing compares to the old school! Just got a jonsered 80, and a 930 is on its way to me as we speak!
@@seanshields86 I agree. Just sucks in modern day that strip away a brand that’s been around since the 1950’s I may see if our two Jred dealers have any that they wanted to clearance just to get rid of. Be safe brother
Thanks for the video, I've been patiently waiting for you to put that 2095 into some wood after the teaser many months ago. I have a 2095 I use for big stuff as well. It just doesn't bog down. My favorite saw to use. I also just finished a full restoration of a 2165 now with a 2171 top end. Jonsereds are my go to old saws. I have a couple more 2165 turd saws to restore, they might end up my first port job if I can bring myself to grinding on OEM cylinders. Keep up the good work Tinman.
had a jonsered felling saw in the mid ish 70's don't remember the model number. ran a 36" bar easily, oiler may have been manual, to long ago for my memory, went p62 after it tuckered, ms660 now. retired now but still use 660 for two households firewood. love your channel
Great saws Brother! I run Jonsered CS2186 Turbo, an Old Jonsereds 90 (wrist breaker), Jonsered 670 Champ, Jonsered CS2165, Jonsered 621 and Jonsered CS2152 autotune (screamer saw). I also have a Jonsered 535 bought new in 1987, still has full compression even though I cut nothing but big English Elms with it for 2 years. Great Channel!
Was just gifted one of these,(2095 turbo) with a 24" bar and half link chain. I did myself a favor and took the rakers down almost a 8th of an inch with a flat file 😂🤘 thing pulls chain like an absolute monster
Have you ever tried cutting a stump round in a circle with the top of the bar? The sawdust stays in the cut and acts as a cushion so the bar won't get stuck and you don't need a wedge. Great vid thanks, have a jred 630.
Had one of these in the early 90s ran grate lots of power but had trouble with the starter rope cover braking often. Fly weel or starter dogs would hook it and brake it.
TY TINAMNS BUDDY U A GOOD FELLA. These saws (395's) are SUPER popular in Australia cause our timbers dull chains so quickly even when you don't hit metal. Common to run a 20" bar.
I just learned today that a friend of mine has a saw like that for sale. I’m hoping to buy it soon. He was using it with a 42” bar and it just didn’t seem to have it, 28” or 32” on the other hand.. oh you betcha it will pull!
I use a Husqvarna roller file guide when sharpening my chain. I have used many different guides and for me this one is by far the best. People have said they don't get the gullet very well when using one but I have not had this problem. Every so often I practice free hand and am getting better but I still primarily use the guide.
Jonsereds are great machines. The name is now owned by Husqvarna AB. Most Husqvarna and Jonsered machines shared identical parts. I once ordered a Husqvarna starter pulley for my Jonsered! That was 1992.
Helped my dad mill a ton of wood with one of those, it was so loud that as a kid I was wearing earmuffs when going on the loo 100 meters away from the mill 😅
Love the channel. Try using a bore cut on those stumps. Bore in two thirds of the width and walk the saw around using a pushing chain, keeping the nose of the bar in the centre and the stump will sit on the chips. You won’t need a wedge and the saw won’t get stuck 👍
Is this why the bar got jammed up and the chain wouldn’t turn? I’ve experienced this on horizontal cuts when the bar and chain froze up for no apparent reason. I’d had to take the chain off or loosen it and free it up by hand.
I bought a 2165/20” and a 2095/42” on an online auction for $385 but had to drive 410 miles round trip to pick them up so probably invested $500 total. They were owned by a county road department and had very little use. IMO they’re strong saws.
Have 3 -2166s and a 2188. Love my jonsereds. Too bad husky shut them down. Getting parts for any older saws nearly impossible. Was just pulling a 36” bar on a 45” stump the other day. My 2188 went right thru it.
I have seen quite a few from 2077 and up with the cases busted out in the front right under muffler they tell.me it caught a nice size branch or whatever and next thing bar oil running out
I would prefer a jonsered over any other saw. My climb saw is a 2139t. Fast som beach. 2166 is my most used saw at work outside the tree. I have tons of saws I use but I like em red the best.
Im just now hearing about this saw brabd i use mostly husqy i have a couple of stihls but prefer husqy won't touch an echo or anything lower old McCulloughs are bad ass but how do Jonsered saws compare to others im really curious cause they are super expensive compared to other brands?
