Spray the wasp nests at night when they are in the nest. Once the pesticide has worked for 20 min or so. Gently take down the nest. BBQ tongs work great for this. Now squash the nest by stepping on it or driving across it. If bees or wasps come after you, have someone standing by with a hose set to shower. Stand under it. Wasps don't fly in the rain. Use the water so you may get to safety. Benadryl works great to reduce swelling from stings if you get several.
Good seeing the horses. I did enjoy learning all about the haying process. Very interesting. It is very enjoyable watching the horses come and go from the barn. I guess I could say I enjoy all parts and people at the Stable Life!!👵🏻🦁🌻😀
Jeol, Buy a gal. of 7% vinegar & mix it with water and spray it on your weeds. I can't remember the recipe for it but I think it is 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water? Buy a sprayer from Walmart. The weeds will turn yellow & die. P.S. 7% vinegar may be in the cleaning supplies area of the store. The grocery area carries 5% vinegar as it is used for canning only. Real cheap way to kill the weeds.
I use foaming spray for wasps, yellow jackets & hornets. Spray them in the cool of the morning before they start flying or the cool of the evening after they "go to bed". Looking beautiful with all the cut grass & weeds the horse's can't get to. 😊
We just took care of a terrible wasp infestation at our house. Turns out we had a holly bush that was growing a type of parasite on its leaves that they were just over the moon about - it was a wasp buffet! The holly will be cut down soon, and I'm not sad to see it go.
I don't know how to handle wasps or hornets, but I know you don't wait till dark then go out and whack them with a baseball bat. I watched from inside my house as a neighbor did that a few years ago. It was a sight.
I use water and dawn dish soap on wasp nest…I also soak the wood door frames and posts around them to discourage them from rebuilding a nest close by.🎉
Love how laya is your site inspector, she walks along side your tractor when you were dragging the ground hehe. Adorable. Love seeing the horses- definitely missed seeing them :)
You right about the weeds but pace yourself, the heat,. Fans in the stables. They know the routines, talking to that phone is not a reason to inconvenience them.
Living in the South I have learned the secret to wasp and hornet control is learning how to throw fire-ants on them and knowing where the yard is level for a quick exit. Okay ,occasionally we might throw an armadillo at them too.
Hi Joel. Love watching your videos. My experience with wasps and Hornets nests. I always call on exterminator in to take care of that. Those two insects are very aggressive, and you don't. want to have to deal with them.
Wait till dark, spray and run inside.I never get rid of them just keep them away from house.😮. Got swarmed with ground hornets a few years ago...NO BUENO.
Hay Joel I use 91% alcohol from walmart an a good spray bottle it works on a lot of bugs I use it on the wasps around my place to. I like your videos on the horses an ten farm keep up the good work have a good nite
It’s looking wonderful…..wasps run 🤗 , hornets run 🤗…. It’s lovely that Megan is always willing to help out with the horses as well, giving you extra time to tidy the outside. Take care both xx
It's great to see the horses coming into the barn. What would be a fantastic shot is to film them all going into their respective stalls on their own! ❤
I know it'd add an extra project to the ever growing list but what about adding a half fence by the orange caution cone to keep people from walking anywhere near where they might fall and also allow you to shape the earth or put in some sort of drainage so that the water can flow even more unimpeded.
Just got stung by a red wasp on top of my head yesterday. Today when I woke half of my face was swelled up, my eye was swelled shut up. When to the Dr and got a zpac.
How do I handle wasps and hornets? I call the leasing office. Then the bug guy comes out (once a week) and removes whatever small nests they've created and sprays. So there are some nice things about living in an apartment. That's about it though in the nice column. 😂 I love the weed-eating videos. There's something very comical about having someone who's just covered in sweat suddenly appear in the video also covered in tiny pieces of weeds. I know that's a horrible thing to say because it's unavoidable, but it makes me laugh. Especially when Gavin is completely dead-panning it. Yeah, you can tell I do no yard work. It does, however, make it more understandable why the guys that do the landscaping here are covered in long-sleeves, long-pants, big hat, sunglasses and a bandana that's covered most of their faces when it's in the 90s outside. The stable looked super nice when you were done. 😊
I don't kow what to think of having horses just on a padded floor. All my horses I ever had were given padded floors and walls . It wasn't mats it was some kind of stuff that a company came and installed it had no cracks so urine and faeces couldn't work its way underneath it. I always used straw or shavings as a bedding also. I'm not sure that the padding would suffice in preventing an injury as horses are heavy. Maybe I am just old school. I have another channel I watch and the lady uses same padded floors as I did but no bedding just a sprinkling of shavings to absorb moisture. I know for you it is more time efficient and cost efficent. I started off working with horses when I was 14 years old am now 58.
After you knock down and dispose of the wasp nests, spray WD 40 where wasps/bees like to nest. Something about WD ingredients that they hate and will not nest where it's been sprayed. I spray every year to two years and it keeps them away. Also, if you hang an old empty nest in/around your barn, that will trick them to stay away as they won't compete with an established hive.
Hello Joel! 16:24 Wonderful seeing the animals . It’s amazing that Megan helps out with your mom & dad sometime Gavin . Everyone helps out wether your at the Stable or Veggie Farm buzy buzy busy. Keep confidence don’t stress yourself out everything gets done sometime .
Quick acting cheap secret.....all you need is a sprayer that will spray a stream quite a ways with a tank of at least a gallon. Add 1/2 cup of Dawn dish soap (its the degreaser) and fill with water. Make sure its mixed well then spray them liberally and watch them fall. It actually works faster than the store bought stuff. The degreaser removes their protective coating and then the water and soap get in and drown them real quick. It works immediately.
Hi I love your vlogs never miss one. I heard you say you needed to drug your arena. We here in Australia we say drag the area. Not drugged but dragged.
Soapy water is still the best wasp killer I've found. I use dawn dish soap and put it in a sprayer for above ground nests or just pour a bucket of soapy water into the ground nest. Doing it at night while they're less active usually minimizes the chance of getting stung.
Horses are beautiful animals. My Grandpa use to raise racing horses. Not a lot of them but I remember he had a couple when I was little. Do you guys own any of those horses? Or, are they all owned by other people?
Nice job Joel, you work your butt off.,,.. I watch and like all your videos, both channels. Yours will grow too. I'm jealous cause you have jobs you love with real friends!
My son "works" at a special needs ranch with horses...learning how to brush them, feed them, clean their hoofs.....and of course "the riding!" We investigated all the white marks running down their front face/noses and learned about all the names for the shapes and sizes......Loved you explaining how to tell your horses apart with colors and socks.....how about a lesson on those white marks running down the front of their face?
Joel was sweating with you 🥵🥵🥵🥵 Shout out to MEGAN that girl is awesome 👍👍👍 Wasps and Hornets I get help cos I am hopeless with them and I just go mad with the Wasp killer spray😐😐😐😐 Horses 🐴 looking in great condition 👏👏👏👏👏 Love from the UK x
I wish you would show is more of what you do at the stables. For example, show us your tractor work while you’re on it and doing the work. I enjoy watching you go about your work day while you’re doing the work. This would also give you more video content for more videos (😉hint hint☺️). Thanks for all you do!
