Finally got 3 over the last weekend up where I hunt. Been difficult this season for sure. New to Washington due to military and finding good forest trails. But finally think I’m getting a grip on Washington hunting. Crazy how the difference from Washington and Oregon where I’m from is in hunting.
Rad! Definitely a tough start to the year but yeah there's still some grouse out n about. Oregon has two week longer season grouse hunting than Oregon. I was thinking about heading down there in the end of January to see if I could find some birds. Mt Hood area a decent place to start?
I've been doing almost the same thing as what you do except I use a fly rod and a 12 gauge in the mid October along the river. Best so far has been 3 trouts about 14 - 16 inches, 5 ducks (mallords) and 3 squirrels. Friends I built a fire and grilled the meat with spices. But I've had days coming back with 1 small dove, wet boots, and a flue to boot. We call it Fin&Feathers
Bad news.. probably a no go for me this Saturday. Pretty bummed about it. Now I'm trying to see if I can get away with the late season white tail hunt! Fingers crossed
Occasionally but not often enough. I have 10/22 takedown that is pretty modified. Not super happy with it tho. I'd like to upgrade my small game rifle... maybe a different 22 or a 17 hmr
Did the same last weekend, I've knocked a couple grouse, I've been giving the fish a break till the rain finely comes. Can't believe I'm going to go hunting in a short sleeve shirt for the 1st time ever this weekend. Like your videos. (Olympic Peninsula) 👍🍻
Noice! Yeah there's still a few grouse kickin about. The rain will definitely help fishing, hunting AND breathing! The air quality might not be as bad out there on the peninsula? Seems like everyone might be out hunting in a tank top and flip flops!
Another fantastic video! Nice work with all the cool camera angles. I liked the music thought it was very fitting. Ive never done very well fishing that lake either. It's kind of nice having some of these roads closed off, making them harder to get to. It's a bit selfish but nothing worse than showing up to the trailhead and counting 50 cars. Good job being so diligent with the hunt, and only choosing to take one, that's hard to do. I went out Saturday for a cast and blast and the only thing I caught was a trouble hook in my finger. Just yanked it out, Rambo style.
Thanks man! Yeah I've always avoided that lake cuz it's so busy but with the road closed I figured I head up there. Oh shit man that sounds hella painful! You basically ARE Rambo tho haha Hopefully the rain coming next week will clear this smoke up and going outside doesn't suck as much. Cheers!
Awesome video. Even when the trip isn't super successful in the hunting and fishing department still always an amazing time out in the woods. I'm heading out this weekend on a grouse/deer/rabbit hunt. Hoping to bag a nice mule deer.
Thanks! Definitely still a great day in the mountains. I assume you're only bringing one gun... a 50 cal. Amiright? Haha Hope you get tagged out on that deer!
@@CascadeBackcountry well I'm jealous man, stuck down here in North king/Snohomish and everything is in a constant state of blown out. Fishing is blown out, hunting is non existent. Love hiking around the baker lake area, but only get up there once or twice a year. Keep up the good work, I really enjoy your videos and personality.
Oh man yeah it's probably tough to find spots down that way! Baker lake area is pretty awesome. Really a ton of cool places in the Skagit Valley all together. Thanks man! I appreciate it!
I know this seems like it’s completely unrelated, but dude you should check out getting an amateur radio license and getting into SOTA (Summits on the Air).
Love the content but not the music, you don't need it man. You are quite an entertaining person and there is no music in your old videos, which is why i subscribed!!!! Love the new over and under, just hope you haven't retired the ole Mossberg.......or was it a trade in......
