I don’t understand why you show that slide clip set up when all you need is a dodger specially if you’re putting a wedding ring on the end and then I don’t understand when you said if you get into some fish, you’ll start changing your set up. why would you do that? Of course, I really don’t even understand why your video popped up in my feed, but glad it did. Good luck fishing man.
Thanks @okannagan.outdoors! I'm actually to the Okanogan outdoors in a second for some more backcountry action 😆🤣 That case is made by Exo Mtn Gear. Great company. Thanks for watchin!
Well the answer to your question is... it depends 😆🤣 A lot of variables to consider there but when it comes down to it, my experience is that braided line works best in the backcountry. Just use whatever you want though!
Here in the northeastern corner of Washington state, I've caught trout on every conceivable spoon pattern and shape. But the number one spoon that gets bit the most is a plain chrome spoon. Second place is a dimpled "hammered" chrome spoon. I make my own spoons now days, so I make small ones with thicker steel so I can cast better. I haven't seen the gold and red little cleo before, but now i have a new pattern to try on my home made spoons. Thanks for that. As for the little cleo rainbow in the runner up section, I've thrown mine at least a few hundred times, without a single bite.
Talking about, back country fishing, with as little as possible, with nice lures that cast far and work. That earns you a sub. You know the struggle. Have a great weekend, tight lines.
I never comment on anything but I had to say thank you. was able to find you just before going to the eastern sierras and picked up on alot of tips tricks and gear. Me and my two friends caught over 20+ fish in some back countru lakes !
Well hot damn!!! Glad I could be of assistance. Sounds like you guys had an awesome backcountry fishing trip in a beautiful area! Thanks for watching AND for commenting 😁😁
Ya i understand the embracing technology thing. Last month i dropped my flip phone provider, due to horrible customer service. When im in the woods i just want the basics. Make a phone call, or make/recieve txts. Now i have a phone that does everything that i dont want it to do when im in the woods. Its an ombieance killer. Glad you kepted your head about yourself thru all that weather. We older subscribers have seen you go thru some tuff weather for video content. Now that you have a family to think bout, your making better decisions. I commend you on that. Tke care nd be safe. Will see you on the next one.
I am generally not into screen time in the backcountry but I must say... for rainy days and long times spent in the tent, it was pretty nice to just watch a movie. And books are heavy haha Good to know when to call it sometimes. On this adventure I had been cold and wet for 3 straight days. It was time to go home. I'll be back there next summer. There's some whopper trout in there! Thanks for watching. Got a mule deer scouting / trout fishing trip coming up next week. Should be a great video!
@@outdoorloser4340 People that pick brush and sell it to greens buyers which in turn sell it to florists. Years ago in my neck of the woods , a hunter shot a brush picker that was wearing a black garbage bag as rain gear. The hunter claimed that he mistook the brush picker as a bear 🐻 because he saw something black 😂😆💥💥💥💥💥
Hey there! Holy cow. I always wonder if anyone I see out in the mountains might find my video. Thanks for the camping spot tip. It was a perfect place to camp thqt night. The weather was a bit more than i had packed for. I'm already planning a trip back next summer... with a packraft this time for sure. I almost never say my location in my videos. I know I hate it when my spots get announced on the internet. Nice to meet you and thanks for watching!
No way!!!!!!! You must've watch some of my old videos. I almost mentioned the "basketball" thing in the video but I was thinking nobody will know what I'm talking about haha!
I was going to be 12.5 miles southeast of these lakes this weekend, but forecast for temps in the 30s and rain/snow showers made me chicken out. I feel like I got to experience it without having to do it! Seems like the lakes have thawed on schedule, but the weather is still hit and miss. Bring on July and the bugs.
I believe I know exactly where you're talking about! And I'll be there July s7th 28th and 29th 😁 Had I known the weather was gonna be THIS gnarly I woulda brought a bigger pack with the appropriate gear. I'm already planning my trip back into there for next summer though haha Thanks for watchin!
@@CascadeBackcountry ahhhh the split ring. I missed that part. I watched that video. Got the hooks and the rooster tails. Went up to a lake and was like how am I supposed to get these together 😂😂
I have the older model without the cover, having the strap is the only way! I’ll have to get this new model, thanks to you, I will be spending more money. 😁
Dude! These videos are GREAT! Thank you!! I grouse hunt around Coeur dAlene, ID with a Small Munsterlander. I agree with everything you’re putting out for tips. Personally…,I like to look for water….usually a stream, as a higher priority more so than where you seem to prioritize it. Also….you mentioned looking below 2000 ft elevation…,well that doesn’t work by us so well, because everything is above 2500 ft 🤣. Really enjoyed the videos, please keep them coming!
Thanks!! Yeah some of this info is definitely specific to western Washington but a lot of it can be universal. There's water everywhere here but I do perk my eyes and ears up a bit when I know I'm coming up to a stream. Often find them by streams along the road. Grouse season is getting close!
That’s a great point, you have more streams, so it’d make sense that I place a higher priority on riparian areas when I’m looking for ruffies. Thanks again! Great stuff!
@@CascadeBackcountry Ahh, that makes sense. We probably have fewer streams due to your rainy climate so riparian areas in North Idaho probably stand out a little as better habitat. Thanks!
Ok.. so the fact that I can wash the cover is huge. I may go buy one right now. I wonder if you could put a hand warmer in that pocket as well.. unless it would get too warm. Thanks for the video.. and Happy Father Day
Do a lot of drooling!? Haha I think you could put a hand warmer in there. It probably wouldn't get hot enough to hurt anything. Maybe try it at home first haha
Hi, excellent review. Thank you. I am 5 ft 10”.. I know the website says regular would be ok. What would you recommend? I think I’m going to buy this quilt.
Thanks! I personally would go for the long version because it is slightly wider and obviously longer so on colder nights, you'll have more material to wrap around yourself. The tradeoff is that the long is slightly heavier. You could always order both and send back the one you like the least. It's great quilt. Have fun!
Thank you for a thorough review of the Thermarest Vesper quilt . I agree with all your comments on the quilt . It does a good job even to 20 degrees . At that point I use my Alpaca wool liner to keep me warm and when I don’t need the liner I use it as a pillow . I use just as you described . Good luck to you on all your hikes .
Interesting choices considering the Super V's use a French Blade as in MEPPS which failed to make this list These are obviously big river and lake lues. A 1/4 oz is a big spinner for a stream.
