Another useful feature of that is that you can use it for in ear monitor mix. You just route the metronome to channels 1/2 and use a mono click track on channel 1, and have your monitor mix come in through inputs 1 and 2 (click still plays normally). No more carrying a separate mixer!

Recently my local music place were putting zoom r20 on sale (for the same price as r12). Gotta say this settle all sort of problems I’m having with my audio interface laptop backing track setup.
Great video, my band is very interested in getting this, does anyone know how many tracks you can load onto the device? Say if we had a 45 minute set already recorded all synths and click track would we be able to upload each song straight onto it? Thanks in advance everyone !
Scott Pletcher great. There are a few ways to do it. You can make a clicktrack in your recording program and import that. But you can also use the click in the R8. If your songs is in 4/4 then you can use the click in the R8...
its about time people start using this for BTracking, I've been using this since it first came , I love it , its never let me down , importing was tricky when I first started , I'm doing 3-4 45 mins sets , I Love it thanks great vid , even though im using it a lil different there is no really right or wrong way , just use it so it works best for you
rence822 I am not using this one anymore but that is only because I need to be able to send midi. But R8 actualy worked better when we where rehearsing. So this is the best way if you only need audio backgrounds...

you can use the inputs routed to your headphone tracks to get monitor signal. I use channel 1 for my kick trigger wich I split using a splitter cable and channel 2 is a monitor mix from the FOH. I make an audiotrack of the click and since these are also routed to the headphone you can use the blend knob to to blend between the monitor feed and the backingtrack and the faders for the click. I have a video on my channel explaning how..bin using this setup on tour for 2 years running power off a powerbank.
Hi, great video, I'm seriously thinking about getting this, couple of questions: 1 how's the speed switching between projects? (do we have to train our jokes in between songs? lol) 2 while in playback, can the r8 feed an input signal at the same time playback is engaged, and assign an effect over that input signal? (want to plug in a synth into an r8 and be able to play with it at the same time the backing track is playing, and apply a reverb) Thanks!
Man On The Living Road nice to hear that you liked the video. To switch between projects. You press the project button. The go down one step. Press enter and there is your list of projects. The projects load almost straight away. On my computer, in the R8 i have made a folder called ”Other Project”. There I will drag all projects that I`m not using this show. So that the list of songs will be as short as possible in the R8. Regarding your second question I have no idea...
Hei, yes you can. Press the PAN/EQ button and then on the Input 1 or 2 ON/OFF button. There you can pick Reverb SEND amount and even PAN the synth in the input mix.
Hi there Thanks for your clip. for using live. we alsways love the loop some parts of a song like 4 chords in the middle to solo. is it posible to loop a part of a song and maybe with the pedal to end the loop to go to the next part of a song? So, what's the best way to change from song to song? Seems like going into the menu to que up each song would be ok for practice but a challenge playing live. Can you use the foot pedal to change songs? Or maybe put your whole set on one project and put markers to toggle thru?
Kay , this is the only downside using the R8. I put numbers in front of every song so that the next song in the setlist was right under the one we just played...

Paul Patterson we don`t use this anymore. It was great but I needed a way to control our light rig and now we use Mainstage. The R8 is still better in some cases. But it works without those features for us...

Great ! Can I load 3 tracks (three playback + mono click) on a SD Card and assign them to tracks easily ? Also if I load a stereo track at say 90bpm can I use the internal BPM at 90 BPM too ?
thanks... also, why do I have to choose between a running drum track & a fill... why can't the fill be selected & roll where it should go... I'm obviously no drummer but I've always had a super drummer when I play out so this is a pain
So ar the time of the video you were using the R8 for practising. Why did you separate the Intro, Verse, Chorus in different tracks if you say you can use markers..so you only needed 2 tracks and time stamp them for intro, verse & chorus, right ?
After your explanation I have pulled myself together and ordered one. It seems to work so far, after one hour of working on it but...once the backing track is over... how this machine stops??? The drummer will beat me hard if I ask him to remember also to press the STOP button...
Mauro Donini I think it stops when it reach the end of the song but I can`t remember. Just let the click track play on and then he wants to stop the song anyway...
Great video! Can you add reverb to the playback tracks? And would you be able to route your microphone through this for live performances and assign reverb to it? Is the built-in reverb any good?
@@PsyckadeliTV This is actually the application for the R8 I'm looking for. I have a gig tomorrow and the venue "sound system" only has 2 channels/inputs....I need 3...2 mics and an acoustic guitar. I'm thinking of using my R8, with it's 2 mic inputs, to run both mics into one channel of the "sound system" and my guitar in the other. There is no mention of this function in the manual. I guess I'll just have to hook it up to a powered speaker and see if I can make it work. Good idea for a video...how to use the R8 as a live "mixer" for 2 mics or a mic and a guitar (and use it's effects) when you don't have enough channels on your PA system mixer.
Hi, I use the R8 zoom for live performances using it as audio playback. In each project I have a WAV file for keyboards (Channel 1 and 2), another for choirs (3 and 4) and another for the click (channel 8). In the last few weeks I been having a problem where the playback suddenly stops and the screen shows me the error "Please, Turn off". This error is not in the manual troubleshooting and I think it is not something related to the SD. what could cause this problem?
Hi, thks for the video. One question about tracks and sd card. I see for using fader and mixing live in every song if i have more than one track (wave no mp3) for song i need to load every single track. But how much space should i need for a complete playlist in this way? In yr experience did you saved just one track already mixed (.wav) +internal click? How much space as average? Is it just 1sd card 4gb big enough for a live about 20-25 songs? I think if songs are all composed by 3-4 wav tracks, maybe 16 gb are enough?Thks for help
hi! thanks for your video! lets say, I have an 1) mp3 of the actual song without drums, 2) mp3 with a click track, 3) a bass guitar mp3 track. is it possible for my drummer to listen a mix with the song + a click track on the headphone output, and for the other output have a bass guitar track?
But why use a track to record a click track ? Cant I route the metronome click directly to the headphones I dont have have to waste a track on the click ?
Nice! , but I am not able to change the Click (tempo) in the middle of my playback, even if I put a marker in the middle, it's all the song that changes tempo !! :(

Luis Moya I tried this and you can only do it with a mixed song so that made it useless to work the mixer. So I didn`t try more about it. So you need to go and bring up a new project for every new song. It`s not the ultimate way but it works...
You would probably need a little mixer to take the headphone/click to the mixer then the mixer to the in ear feed. Just guessing since I don't have that setup.
Hello, first I want to say thank you for the video :) But now I have a question about all the system. I'm a drummer and I use for this moment my iPad with some program. I use backing tracks from Karaoke version and I do it like all instruments in mono and click track in the right channel. How I can use that machine if I want to use all instruments like stereo and how to include the click track after that. How you are doing that? In some program, or? You need to go into the menu and load every song. It takes a little bit longer but it is okey if your song doesn't have to come straight after the other...

hi. great video ım playing guitar, we made gigs with a singer over backing tracks, we buy the songs and close the lead gitar and vocals and in waw format ı play them over digitech jammman solo (loop pedal but can play backing track from sd card) but now ıts gone. is it possible to make the same on zoom r8. ı used footswich with previous pedal (jamman) so ı can quickly select the next song ( the order of songs at the playlist changeble according to the audience) is zoom r8 practical for this kind of usage . thank you
Nice to hear that you liked the video. Well changing songs on the R8 is a bit tricky. It is fine ones you get the hang of it but there is no way to use a pedal to control it to go to the next song. It's a recorder so you need to select a new project every time you choose a new song. Ones you get the hang of it it will be fine...
How many Songs can I upload to the R8? and How do I sync the Tempo of the Songs to the Click? And one more question: Are the Playback Songs in Stereo? :) Thank you
sdm sdm how many songs can you upload? That is dependent on how big your songfiles and how big memory card is. I start the song in my daw at bar one. When I have import it into the new project in the R8. I set the R8 tempo to the same tempo I had in my daw. The song will be in stereo if you export it from your daw in stereo. The R8 will know if it`s a stereo track and then put it on two channels. When I export the vocals and the click. I split the channels and only use one side of the mix to get a mono track...
Thank you very much! So I can run a full live-set.. like 15 or 20 Songs? Ok.. So you need to set the tempo before every Song is played? Or does the R8 recognize the Tempo of a Song automatically?
I have a bunch of backing tracks I have already created. I assume I wouldn't be able to use this product as I would never get the track in line with the click?
The click is a track just like the backing tracks. So if you have a click track that works with you music backing track you should be able to use that....
I don't see how you can send audio tracks to Main outputs and Headphones separately (one being a recorded click track and the other backing tracks). I looked at the manual and it seems like the only way to do a Click track and Backing Tracks is to use the Metronome as the Click, which can be separated to Headphones. Any comments/help on this?

Dan Seipel when i made backgrounds before there was sometimes parts that was to high or to low in volume. Then i needed to make a new background tracks. But if you put them on the mixer channel you can mix it and then save the setting...
Luciano Menezes at the moment the band is using Mainstage 3. But that is only because we needed to control things via midi. If you don`t need that you can go a long way with the R8...

Question: i sing to either an acoustic guitar track or a piano track (i use stereo tracks for each scenario). I want to use this as a track playback device (witha Custom click track) and, ideally, as s full mixer by plugging a mic into channel 1. I could use a battery operated Mic Mech 2 for effects/tone/compression/reverb, but I’m curious…. Do you think that the R8 could function standalone, as a mixer for my voice & tracks ?
Hi. It was a long time since I used the R8. So I'm not sure. I think you can do it. But I can't try it out for you. It is possible to mix the level of the tracks but I'm not sure if you can use it as alive mixer...
