Nothing like jumping right into a high peak backpacking trip with no experience. Lol. Adirondacks are no joke.

Haha I thought my years of hiking, fitness, and camping experience would transfer well into backpacking. Little did I know 😂

Thank you so much for sharing this, the Adirondacks have a very steep learning curve, we learned to store overnight gear at the campsite and every ounce on your back matters😂

There are so many good aspects to this video, but foremost is your honest admission that the experience was humbling. I am glad that you were still able to enjoy the beauty. I was laughing at the altitude of your New York "Mountains" We park our cars at 8000' elevation and go up from there. Lake Tahoe, where I live, sits at 6200' and many of the surrounding peaks are well over 10,000'. Thankfully you appreciated your situation and didn't do anything dumb to endanger yourselves. Many tourists are harmed or killed in the California Mountains by underestimating nature and overestimating their abilities. High Altitude Training for your Pike's Peak Run - - When we trained for mountain runs and for our backpacking trip to the summit of Mt Whitney (14,500'+), instead of the Oxygen Deprivation Mask that you are using, we clenched pencils or metal straws between our teeth while running or hiking up hills forcing us to breath only through our noses or whatever air could get into your clenched teeth - primitive but we think effective. I also loved your 'short' in which you had a $6 cup vs a $60 REI duplicate. Thanks You for your video.

One of the best comments I’ve ever received! So jealous of the mountains you get to hike and I love the idea you had for high altitude training. I’m definitely going to give it a try! Thanks so much for the support!

Pretty funny and informative. Definitely not enough domestic abuse jokes in hiking videos these days. 👍🏼 4:39

Wondering how your packs got so heavy. 2 of you in 1 tent, 4.7 lbs isn’t so bad, just have one carry tent & the other the rain fly. Maybe your bags were super heavy or very likely- you brought way too many clothes. Planning is everything- trip length, conditions/weather etc. seemed you made out all right in the end but learned a few things.

A mix between not the lightest gear, packing to much, video equipment, and temp ranges from 28 degrees to 75 degrees lol ya live and learn I guess 🤷🏼‍♂️ the pack has slowly gotten lighter and lighter with every trip since

There are 46 Adirondack peaks over 4,000 ft. People make it a goal to summit every one. Don’t know if I’ll get them all but I figured I’d start with the highest lol
