Backpacking The Pecos Wilderness -- A 4 night, 5 day adventure deep into the Pecos Wilderness (Santa Fe National Forest, New Mexico) with my good friend, Manzano Man from the "ManzanoMan Adventure" RU-vid Channel.
Episode 3 of 5 -- The Trailriders Wall! We got everything packed up for the long 7 mile hike across the Trailriders Wall and over to Truchas Lake. Elevation: 11,500 FT to 11,700 FT (200 FT gain) This was the highlight of my entire trip! I've always heard the stories and seen the pictures but today, we get to actually experience it! Just before we dropped off the Trailriders Wall, we got to see an entire herd of male Big Horn Sheep up close.

Great job on this episode! Loved every minute of it and looking forward to the next video! The big horn sheep were amazing, awesome job on the camera. The time lapse at the end is also very cool. Thank you for sharing these wonderful video adventures with us all. Much appreciated.

Thank you Brother! The Big Horn Sheep coming across the Trailriders Wall was incredible! I only had that one moment to film as the Big Horn Sheep ran across and it only lasted about 6 seconds but the entire trip was filmed at 1080p @ 60 fps so I was really glad I had some extra frames to get a good slow motion.

Thank you Brother! ManzanoMan and I were thinking about you when we were on this journey together! I only got about 6 seconds or so of footage when those sheep came across but I mistakenly had the camera set at 60 fps. Subsequently, I ended up getting a good slow motion shot from it!

You’re making me want to go packing!!! Problem is I’m nursing a broken leg from a dirt bike accident...probably can’t go packing again till next year!! I’ve been following you for awhile...thanks for allowing me to live vicariously!! 👍🏻

Well, what can one say about the even MORE fantastic Bighorn experience?! This seems to indicate a good population in that area. I have to say you do capture here the essence and rhythm of enjoyable travel through wilderness, with appreciation and wonder at the beauty, and rolling with what the weather and landscape allow.

We lucked out by not hitting rain the way the clouds keep creeping in on us. Awesome capture of the wildlife and getting that buck in the velvet! We will have to plan this trip again buddy. It was epic and worth it! Great job putting this film together. I need to invest in a camera for those close ups, but the iphone I use does pretty good for basic filming.

Oh man! We REALLY lucked out! The whole day was awesome but just before the sun went down, I was sure it was going to rain. Glad it didn't! Your iPhone does a fantastic job! Get an external mic for it and your golden!!

Thank you Brother! It was awesome to be up in the high country of the Pecos Wilderness and getting to see all the wildlife made it for me! The hammock tarp is a Warbonnet Superfly tarp and I absolutely love it! It's a great shelter for your hammock or for just getting out of the rain with your buddies!

What pack saw is that near the end? BTW, cotton balls and Vaseline are the best fire starter!! I always have a Rx bottle full on me!!!

It's called the Boreal 21 made by Agawa Canyon. It's a bit pricy but totally worth the $$! I absolutely love it and it's worth the weight. If you want to save weight, a lighter alternative would be the Sven Saw. It's made of aluminum but it's essentially the same thing and it's much lighter.

Thanks The Southwest Backpacker! I currently use a Sierra Saw, and it’s great for weight and size, but has obvious limitations.
