Backup Lights Added The Easy Way

Adding backup lights to my 2009 Silverado 2500HD the easy way using a T harness on the factory 7 pin trailer plug. You can do this to add other lights without cutting factory wiring. Enjoy

Installed some diode dynamics 3” pods as backup lights using your instructions today. This is the cleanest method I’ve seen! No splicing into the factory harness. Very pleased. Thank you.

I was thinking blue usually goes to the brakes but I've never used a 5 pin harness. Good job!

Yeah, that blue is kind of weird. Never saw a 5 pin either until looking it up. I wanted the backup light without having another 7 pin connector so I went with the 5 pin. Worked out well.

I hate cutting into the factory wires. This worked out great and I will probably use the other wires when I get my back rack figured out.

I use a 10" Android tablet tethered to my phone. It's always updated can play through speakers etc. The waze app works well to warn for cops road hazards etc

They will just be on a separate switch.

I need to get the plow wiring installed but I have done it so many times it doesn't really scare me. I will get it done some night.

Those connectors are pretty good. I have used a lot of them. They have single, double, triple and quad. Maybe even more. They seal good. I did have trouble with one. The pin pushed back and didn't connect when I connected them together. I just unplugged it and pushed the pin back up and it worked fine. Just something to watch for if something isn't working.

I hate how we can't buy 5000k led lights anymore. They call the 6000k-6500k lights pure white light but they're blue tinted in my eyes. I bought some 5000k light bars for a jeep I built a bumper for 4 years ago and wish I wouldn't have sold it.

Don't really know what these lights are. They came with the bumper so I guess they are cheap china lights. They have a bluish tint but really put a nice light behind me.
