Thanks for checking out the channel! I imagine the flounder seasons run a bit different up in New England, but they still can be caught in the same types of areas. Look for rapid depth changes that will funnel bait and you'll find the fluke!
Nice work retrieving that camera - that could have put a real downer on the day. Nice fluke! Hoping to get out next weekend, will reach out to see about connecting! Hope you get some luck this weekend
Hey Mike, thanks for checking out the video. In my opinion its tougher to catch from shore. I did a lives stream last summer with Dan Mancari to talk about targeting fluke from shore. Dan gave a bunch of solid tips in there. You should check it out....Dan's a beast targeting flounder from shore!
You mean holding flounder away from your body makes them look bigger?? Guilty as charged!! lol!! Great job having a plan and sticking to it Rich! Beautiful fish! Might be time for a bigger net, because you're destined to top that beauty with a real doormat the way you're going!!
Next video you'll see where I hooked up on a slammer blue in the backwaters..no way it was going to fit in that net. I didn't know what to do...until it bit through my 40lb leader on a jump. It was pretty cool.
Hey guys just wondering if a paddle kayak works well for bay fishing? I bought one last year and it’s in good condition works great just wondering if i can do as good on it as a peddle kayak. It has rod holders and everything
With the right kayak, and right conditions a paddle kayak can do very well in the backwaters. Just know that you will be more susceptible to the wind and currents. So...you can have some long paddles if the conditions aren't right. I actually fished a paddle kayak for all but the last 3 seasons and did well. It's just more work.
Yes, the rod is a custom. It's made by Creely Custom Rods and is called a Fat Dad Fluke Stick. It's by far my favorite rod to use while vertical jigging fluke.
When I go through the shallows like that I often let the line scope so it trails about 15 feet behind the yak...but no, the kayak has never seemed to spook a flounder in the shallows. I have caught them in 3 feet of water directly under me.
