I always feel so deficient when I see your garden. I could only hope to have mine look similiar. From your first video walking out of the apartment to your home site to today. James, you and Ness rock. Hope to stop by again on our next visit.
What a wonderful update and collage session! The yard is looking very good, with no signs of drought at all... Those little button bananas look like they will burn calories... Little work to get to them, bite-size and low calories to enjoy... It's evident that your social lives are not suffering, haha (a good thing!)... Ok, looking forward to the next DIY project episode, I'm sure it'll be special... Between your channel and Texas Filipino (and others), I'm getting a good bit of knowledge to use in our build(s)... Have a super weekend, you two! 🙏🙏🙏 👍😎👍
Very inspiring garden! I'm always learning something when I watch your garden videos. Finally, some rain and I think much more to come, great time for plants to thrive. Thanks for bringing such joy and happiness to the community, we need more of this!
OMG, bloody hell James, the garden in mind blowing, I haven’t see your show in about a year, life got in the way, but the place looks out of this world, It really doesn’t seem that long ago I watched you get up every morning, lock your gate to keep the dog in and walk along the road to start the building and drop in to the little sari sari store and order your dinner to collect on way home, cant remember the woman’s name that use to do the cooking at this stage, but her face was a part of the show then and the couple who ran the store. How things have change. An inspiration to us that hope to retire there one day🤩
Thanks so much for the kind words @willo5537. We are loving our decision to retire here. The place I used to get dinner it Tess' sari-sari and next door was Roy & Michele's store. I still visit regularly with Ness but unfortunately Roy pass away about a year and a half ago. Good luck in your retirement goals!
Sorry to hear that, I felt you were all a part of my life back then, so much has changed for me over the years since I started watching, at that time I had never been there but was in a LDR with a girl from Mindanao, we have been married 7 years now her 2 sons live here and are now qualified electricians living the high life and all are Irish citizens, they won’t go back but my wife might(MIGHT🤔) anyway 10 still years left to retirement so I will work on her, and in the meantime, I will keep up to date with what’s happening in your garden😉👍🏻🥇
Yard looks great. Looking forward to the overhaul or whatever your plan is. It’s a shame to take out nice trees but sometimes it’s just got to be done. I have some nice King Palms in my yard that might have five more years before they need to go. What would look real nice in your yard and bring some color are Red Abyssinian trees also known as Red Banana, they produce no fruit, purely ornamental. Not sure how you do it. I’m turning 60 this month and feel too old to be doing the work around my home which isn’t close to the many plants and trees you have. Looks very soothing and as you say you’re back where it’s quieter. I have a dream, that dream is to get out of California and has been for close to two decades. My wife now says after 20 years of saying I want to move says find a place and we’ll go knowing that I now have given up on the notion and become sedentary in my ways. Just had the roof done and now looking at the whole exterior to be refinished to last the rest of my life without concern.
That might be a native orange, I hope it's sweet. That coconut roots might cause a little problem later on on your pool, stay safe and have a pleasant day.
wow, your garden in so beautiful James. To our opinion - but we're not sure - one of the plants is the kulong kulong or kind of family. The name kulong kulong only in tagalog and only known by some peope on the islands.
Here in Kidapawan. It rains at about 4:30 or 5 . I enjoy your videos. Were far apart so there a slite difference in weather . I've already picked my mangos , and my avocado is bigger than yours but no fruit yet , everything else Is producing well. I'm 70 now soon 71. Take care.
Wow great video James and thanks Airene and I had a wonderful time. I caught the first tropical storm just before leaving Manila. Congrats on the Philippines women vollyball teams bronze metal.
That mystery citrus tree looks a whole lot like a Shiranui Mandarin (also known as Dekopon orange). If true, you are extremely fortunate as it is a very fine high quality mandarin orange, one of the very finest citrus. It’s also known as Sumo mandarin.
Here's the agent for their lot. Rendell Marquez. Cell: +63 927 350 4191 / email: rendell_marquez@yahoo.com. He'll have all the answers to your questions. Regards! Oh, btw, I was also Spec Ops, USAF, C-141 👍🏻
Your yard is looking great James. Did the Angels Trumpet make it? I found a new fruit that I had no idea what it was. It was down by the old bamboo bridge. I'm still trying to find what it is. I'll let you know if I do find out.
Hi James & Ness! My husband and I are highly considering splitting our time in the PI & the USA once he retires soon. I was born in the PI and moved to the US when I was 7 y/o and haven’t been back since. Just curious and trying to get some ideas (don’t have to give me the exact price), but what would I be looking at with the same build (mediterranean style) like yours or similar. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Hi there and thanks for watching the channel. Prices of land and building have spiked over the past few years but have probably kept up the rising income bumps in the US. With that being said, a house similar to ours using moderate to high quality materials would most likely come in between P20m-P30m today.
@@MyPIDream thanks for the reply! That gives us a little bit of an idea of what we would be looking at. I’m assuming a pool & landscaping and such would be an additional cost?Have a great day 😊
Hi Christina. Good to hear from you again. Here's the contact info for the agent for this property. He is the best to give you details and pricing from the owners. Rendell Marquez. Cell: +63 927 350 4191 / email: rendell_marquez@yahoo.com Best regards!
Can’t find the appropriate place ti ask this question. I have looked into foreign husbands marrying Filipinas and inheritance impact should the wife pass first. The conclusions are as follows. The husband owns 100% of the house (in most cases). The property will be divided among husband, wife’s children or wife’s grandchildren (legal or not), or wife’s siblings. Combinations depend on who survives. What is not clear is how quickly distribution must be done. Wills can only direct a smaller portion of assets.. Have you looked into this? Difficult finding a lawyer here that specializes in estate and some want outrageous fees for simple consulting.
Hi Phil. The complexity of your question, and a great question indeed, deserves more explanation than I can provide here in the comments section. There are just so many variables to consider when it comes to inheritance and rights of expats who survive their Filipino partner but rest assured there are legal provisions in place to protect you. Continue to do your research and if you do indeed plan on entering into a property purchase here contact a reputable lawyer here with your concerns as I've found the Internet is riddled with confusing and misinformation regarding this topic. As a side note, since many of my subscribers are expats married to Filipinos and looking for property here in Batangas, I always recommend our broker/agent to assist in their search and purchase. He is first educated in law prior to building his real estate agency and has helped many of my subs with complicated situations with regard to relationships and property purchases here in Batangas. Email me if you're considering land purchase in Batangas and I'll give you his contact info.
@@MyPIDream thanks for the response. We actually are in Cebu and over the last 7 years purchased. Condo, home, pension house and vacation property. All with the help of lawyers however they do not specialize in estate law. The American I bought our vacation property from is in the position I am researching. His wife passed away 6 months ago. No will, no children but she has siblings. The research on Phil law says he must share half with her siblings. I’m 18 years older than my wife but so was he. He believes he owns 100% but I think someday soon when he tries to sell, he will be in for a shock. I don’t want to get involved but I do want the knowledge.
The likelihood he will be successful in showing property ownership is not good unless his wife holds citizenship of a foreign country and does not also have Philippine citizenship (dual citizenship) and the Philippine born spouse has a will created in the foreign country and no Philippine will. The foreign will, declaring her ownership in Philippine property passes to her foreign spouse if she passed before him will be observed by Philippine law. In such a case, the foreign spouse can own the property under Philippine law but it is not meant for the foreign spouse to pass on to his other foreign relatives. It will eventually go back using the right of succession/inheritance to the Philippine born spouse's family upon the death of the foreign spouse. This is one of the fair laws here in the Philippines respecting the wishes of the former Filipino and protecting the surviving spouse while never succeeding property to non-Filipinos for the long term. I respect this as fair to both parties.
