BAD BUSINESS WITH CAR SHOP 

I feel you K. I had a blown tire in Tennessee bill of 560 for road side service.

Bit different when you are taking a mclaren to a place like that, but still does seem like some sort of miscommunication

I believe some shop even want a down payment before they start the job. How did this even happen?

This is it. I make sure customers are aware of ALL costs at every step of the way. If I can call a customer on a $45 speaker they could call Kali on a $4000 engine job.

And can get in trouble with the Bureau of Automotive repair for performing work without authorization.

Fax if the price is gonna be more than what u told me , don’t do the extra work & then when I get there oh it’s an extra 4 bandz or extra 200 dollars everyone don’t have money like that to just give away

Probably need to hire more professional service staff. Millions of Dollars in your Service Bays and the guy at the Front desk looks like a Panhandler. The Kid was also Free Styling Qoutes with out an invoice to walk the customer through.

That is actually how u become broke. If u just agree and pay for everything ur money is going to be gone. And most if not all the people that u helped can’t help you because they were always broke.

Exactly right customer always has the right to what the original quote was unless the mechanic explained before doing the job of any underline cost removing motor etc And 3rd party warranty never worth it

Facts that's why they told him to take it. They messed up and tried to slide him a bill after they messed up. The guy at counter, I know a con game paper slide it was all over his face. The owner was mad because he knew they messed up.

I went back and listened to it and the Asian guy clearly said the total job was around $9K - $10K and Alex would charge Kali $4K. Meaning whatever the warranty wouldn't cover, Alex would take a loss on the remainder so Kali would only pay $4K outta pocket. Alex should've just spoke with Kali personally instead of through his employees.

Yea went back and listened . He definitely made it seem like kali would pay nothing. He said 9k , but Alex charge you 4k to help you out but you have the warranty ……… think the Alex and Asian guy had the mix up.

He said he would charge kali $4k before kali told him about the warranty. Therefore if the warranty covered the $4k why would he owe additional?

I own a few.businesses and when something extra needs be done adding to cost I email the customer or text leave a paper trail . Something much more solid than word of mouth. Any professional business does this. Sheisty ones tell u that called u and told u and spring whole different number on you when its time to pay

All in all, somewhere there was a lack of communication . I give Kali respect for holding his emotions when dude was getting hyped up. I’m a shop owner and we always get in writing the estimate especially for a big job like this one. And we call the customer every time there is a price change. Either Kali is lying and pulled a fast one on this shop or the shop didn’t do their part in telling kali about the price.

Nah i build cars. And buddies who do contractor work on homes. Whenever there is added work caught during repair or building. They confirm with the customer to make sure it is ok and a new price for repair. If you go ahead and do the work anyways. Legally the consumer doesnt have to pay. They only have to pay for the work they initially were hired to do based off the original quote.

I mean Kali probably doesn’t want to pay the McClaren repair prices… But the shop has to cover themselves better. Owner should have had call logs, emails with invoice quotes, etc…

Just cause it is a lease doesnt mean he doesnt plan on buying it. You can buy out a car at the end of the lease. On a car worth this much. A lease is a smart move to see if it is worth buying. Its pretty much a payed test drive. Most super car owners lease them at first before actually buying. Easier to get out of a lease than trying to find a cash buyer to take one for what it is actually worth.

They knew they screwed up on that repair estimate abs tried to get something out of him. Ether way they knew they were gonna swallow that repair. I run a Auto Shop and a very successful one at that. Service advisor gotta communicate every step of the way. Even when a part is need for the job. Gotta update them and inform them. 😎

A reputable shop wouldn't care.

Facts!! Kali knows absolutely nothing about cars. People with influence always try to screw small business. I was on Kali’s side when he dealt with Genesis 1.. but Kali is wrong in this situation.

Kali should ring around and get the price confirmed and go back and look after those boys for thier time and effort. Also teach them about communication skills. Its 100% a job over $10k. $7k for all that Labour and parts on a Mclaren was a good deal for who Kali is imo.
