If this is like any other LN, as you get stronger, you are also become smarter in a sense that you can remember entire book with a single glance. The same way with Superman with his super intelligent or Omni-man with the same abilities. So understand a different language is easy.

AFAIK, it was around this point that Kumoko bothered to start learning the language, though there she did it via her multiple personalities' teamwork.

To be fair, causing a diplomatic accident was kinda the point. I guess they were like "This guy is stupid but relatively harmless, they would not try to harm him directly because they know it would cause a massive diplomatic incident...a monster, however..."

Yeah, that's not a plot twist, that's literally what happened.

Not that far off. He was sent there hoping he would screw things up and give them a reason to star a war. That's why they were prepared with multiple allies with a moment notice to launch an invasion.

Its just a mistranslation. The guy said "mushi" which just means bug. Most Japanese words aren't very specific in their meaning.

Spiders & tarantulas are widely misunderstood, they are pretty incredible creatures. My grandfather on my mom’s side apparently had a tarantula (A Choco Golden-knee i think) when raising my mom. I thought about getting into the hobby, but I don’t have the time or space to care for a tarantula. While we see them as big scary creatures they are actually not high on the food chain. Check out Exotic Lair’s channel he’s got a ton of spiders and some are really beautiful.

@@SeriouslySirius1066 No time or space for Tarantula, that is the worst execuse i ever heard. You need 0.5 m^2 and mostly 1h per month. The only hassle is starting and periodic maintance aka cleaning. Temperature, moisure are easy to keep in check.

@@remigiuszrutkowski9527 I don’t have space in my room and I preferred it in my room where it’s out of the way of my toddler nephew. And I don’t have the time because I trying to work on a number of things all at once (I’m also lazy). Besides money is also another thing, I don’t have funds to buy a spider because I’m spending that money on art supplies and school expenses (art school is expensive). In the future I would like to own one but now is just not a good time for me.

Often when the term "insect" is called or in this case from a Noble from different country who hold power in church, the "insect" means people beneath them, ready to be step on like insect. At least that is what I get from reading many LN where Nobles in Medieval Times often call peasants, slaves and anyone beneath them as Insect all the time.

she is neither. this is the kinda show where childish simple affiliations dont exist. she is just a survivor. good and evil is irrelevant.

Plenty of dumbfuckery been on display in today's despite a wealth of information at everyone's fingertips. Plenty of opportunity in a medieval fantasy world to find a dude too dumb to live to cause an international incident and give your alliance an excuse to start a war.

I mean, real life humans have worshipped statues they themselves made... it's not out of the question that people could worship an unintelligent creature, but her behavior goes against that hypothesis.

It plays with and breaks down a lot of the ideas in the genre. Twisting a bunch of story cliches and tropes is a good way to present them in new and entertaining ways. Also, the VA is amazing.

This is what happens when a show pins all it's hopes on the writing around a single character.

I'm guessing that to others it will simply look like she is pointing at her eye while opening her mouth (maybe making a hissing/"reeeee" sound), that combined with the fact that they believe her to be intelligent might convince them that she is threatening him in an “I’m watching you” kind of way or simply ironically asking “me ?! nope, get lost”.

@@RickyThurd It was a good reminder that her recollections of her past life, before she was reincarnated, painted her as a shut-in that wasn't good around people or in social situations. Unlike in a lot of Isekai stories, going on a bunch of dangerous adventures didn't really address her social awkwardness or shyness.
