In 1839 counsellor of health Dr. Ernst H. B. Ritscher founds a hydropathic establishment in Lauterberg, thereby laying the foundation for this small town as a health resort in the Harz region. 75 years later, in 1914, the citizens celebrate their health resort anniversary with a big parade. Meanwhile, in 1906, the curative bath has been awarded the title »Bad« [Bath] Lauterberg.
The historic silent film document conveys the holiday mood in a German spa town at the end of June 1914 on the eve to World War I. Spa guests and residents celebrate the festival with parades, dances, demonstrations, promenades and lots of music. Bad Lauterberg shows what it has and what it can offer. A little later therapeutic business came to a halt because of the war and could only be resumed after its termination.
