This is the fandom who sees slapping your son once (twice in the manga) as genuenly irredemable but if you cause the deaths of hundreds of thousands directly and indirectly and show no remorse or regrett for it then you deserve to bee seen as a innocent victim who has done nothing wrong just because you where slapped once as a kid. Im actually happy that the leauge got completley clownd on and exposed as the losers they are. Hell Overhaul and All for one tecknically got better endigs in acomplishing what they wanted even if it didn't go the way they wanted it to.
Ever since the ending dropped things have been chaotic lol My opinion of the ending is that it exists I guess? I wouldn't go as far to say that the final chapter satisfied nobody but if someone told me they got almost nothing from the chapter I would get it I hope the final volume patches things up a bit
These are all great takes. Having been on twitter and being exposed to the brain rot of the fandom and their projected fantasies has damaged my faith in human cognitive abilities. So hearing some actual good takes from fans that paid attention and respect the series Horikoshi gave us is really a breath of fresh air, Thank you. I really enjoyed the ending over all, I do wish we got a strong confirmation of Deku and Uraraka, because I think they both deserved that win by the end and it had so much organic and healthy build up from the start. Most Shonen don't usually have great couple development in their series so having Uraraka and Deku together was a nice change of pace, though it seemed pretty implied by the end it would've been nice to see it outwardly stated. Plus I think it's the only plot point left unfinished. Uraraka's subplot of not bottling up her feelings felt unsatisfying for me personally and getting her to confess to Deku would've given that closer. Other than that, I am really impressed with how well Horikoshi managed to wrap everything up. We can always ask for more but realistically it does have to end eventually and that being said I think what we got was good. Going to still miss it a lot though.
My biggest issue with MHA (and I'm aware this is just personal taste rather than necessarily a flaw in the writing) is that Deku got powers despite the framing in episode 1. We show off Deku as being 'worthless' due to not having a quirk while being determined to still become a hero. We get his copious notes on other heroes' strenghts, weakness, and styles. We see how Deku runs into situations he is outclassed for because the core conceit of his character is wanting desperately to be a hero. And, then we kind of throw that initial conflict away by giving Deku a quirk. It stops becoming about Deku proving his worth without a quirk into becoming about Deku proving he was worth granting One For All. Which is fine. It's still a good thing to explore... it's just not what I wanted the story to be about.

I loved the video guys. The fandom is fully of such bad takes and it is extreamly rare to find someone thst debunks them. The mha subreddit has devolved to constently crying about Deku not being the new symbol of peace, sexualizing the female cast and posting pics of Deku blushing at girls to prove that he is straight. The only thing they talk about how they hate Bakudeku shipers. I don't ship it but calling it victim x abuser in like every post makes me think that none of them have watched past episode 1. I like to think they are ashamed to be part of the fandom and are trying to prove that they are "not like the other mha fans". That or they are just secretly homophobic.
I want to add my disagreement with the quirkless hero things, my disagreement, is in the statement that knuckleduster uses drugs to fight villains to compensate for his quirklessness, I don’t think it’s because he was quirkless but it was the fact that he was old, the reason is because when knuckleduster encountered easerhead, eraserhead though “he’s quirkless, he’s just a tough old man” and eraserhead doesn’t know knuckle takes drugs so he think’s it believable for a quirkless person to just be that strong naturally even without drugs and about the stain killing part again i don’t think that matters because stain was able to fight both deku and todoroki when he wasn’t intending to kill them and in the sports festival a pro hero said that todoroki was stronger than the average pro hero showing that stain is as strong as the average pro even without his intend to kill and the thing is whenever someone says it isn’t possible for quirkless person to be hero that statement has a ton of problems and plot inconsistencies because any quirk user with a quirk that doesn’t enhance speed, durability, or strength usually compensates with physical attitude for example mirio one shotting all of class 1-A including people like kirishima, endeavor tanking hits from high end hood whilst being flung through several buildings or shigaraki’s insane speed even before gaining afo with him keeping up with gigantomachia for several days. I think the point of all might telling deku it isn’t possible to be a hero without quirk is because all might is a pseudo reflection of hero society, where it’s glorious and fanatical on the outside (Buff Might) but hide’s a dark underbelly beneath (Small Might and his self destructive mindsight and need to maintain his invincible image) where it simultaneously says to go beyond your limits plus ultra, but also puts down others for their own limitations due to thier quirk or lack thereof in midoriya’s case, and one for all sorta of serves as metaphor to midoryia delimma of if a quirkless person can be a hero especially after we find out that only quirkless people could’ve safely wielded one for all making it even more obvious that’s the answer to that question as one for all sorta embodies the quote “If’s there’s will there’s a way to achieve” Plus Ultra and all that.
I just don’t agree with that knuckle duster reading. Aizawa saw him scrap for half a minute, he doesn’t see all the other absurd things that man attempts. Also just basic scene understanding, the drugs are being equated to him bulletproof vest in their purpose. Which to me pretty clearly reads as a regular guy using everything as his disposal to win. Plus all the other points against him still stand. Stain intentionally fights in alleys because it’s advantageous of him. If Shoto wasn’t a hero he could’ve just shot off the glacier he did against Sero leveling several buildings but beating Stain. So once again Stain only functions successfully because he isn’t a hero. As for the Mirio and Endevour that’s missing a pretty obvious point. They wouldn’t have been able to win those fights without quirks. Without super speed and invincibility being buff wouldn’t be enough to defeat class 1a. If all Endevour could do was eat hits the high end would have easily killed him. We see the pinnacle of a quirkless very strong young person fighting a villain, it’s Mirio vs Overhaul. And he does pretty well at first, until he gets stabbed in the gut. I agree saying quirkless people can’t be heroes is treated as wrong in the story but not because they actually can fight super villains, but because what makes a hero is much more broad that than. In mha team up missions there’s a very nice chapter about how Melissa and Dave shield due to being quirkless and having an extremely weak quirk make support items because that is also heroic. Plus ultra does say to go beyond your limits but mha also regularly poses that you can’t lie to yourself. Look at Kirishima, early on he expresses his desire to be a flashy strong hero like someone with a super strength quirk can. He still becomes a great hero but one that acts primarily as a shield and protector. Or how Deku wants to be just like all might but doesn’t because that’s a toxic goal in a myriad of ways. You can be a hero, but trying to be a hero in a way that is actively harmful to your strengths and life is not the way to go. If mha was genuinely posing the lesson that quirkless people can beat big scary villain fighters by doing enough push ups, it’d probably show us a genuine uncontested case of that.
@@trashiki I don’t think the time aizawa seeing knuckle fight (half a minute) matters, as aizawa is an extremely good judge of a character’s strength as he is a teacher or will soon become a teacher. Shoto fighting in an alley wouldn’t limit the speed or durability of his ice glaciers, like having more ice wouldn’t magically make his ice more durability or faster and stain was able to slice through his ice and evade them with no effort, also stain was stated by grand torino to be holding back against the student’s and i quote grand torino “a hero killer who was playing around with you” also stain tried to be a hero before when he was younger and even got accepted into a hero school are we saying that stain isn’t smart enough to know that he’s incapable of being a hero. I never said mirio or endeavor would’ve won those fights without they’re quirks, i’m saying that if a hypothetical quirkless person had the strength to one shot kirishima like mirio, tank/endure hits from highend hood like endeavor or the speed to keep up with gigantomachia for several days like shigaraki then I don’t understand why a quirkless individual couldn’t be a hero, maybe not Top 1 but a pretty strong hero. I haven’t read team up missions, so I can’t comment on it and i don’t even know if it’s canon or not. I think the message with kirishima is that in order to be the best hero or best version of yourself that you could be you have to play to your strengths and to not constantly compare yourself to others, not necessarily about “lying to yourself” I think the reason why mha never showed an uncontested case of quirkless individual being a hero is that A: it would make dekus beginning conflict about wether or not he could be a hero pointless if a quirkless hero already existed B: it emphasizes that deku will be the last person to wield ofa, due to how rare quirkless individuals are or will become.
To be honest I didn't watch mha past season 1 so my opinion on the ending is painted mostly by a video made by the RU-vidr asarathaHS who made a three-part mha retrospective and that video was 3 hours long and pretty convincing for me so I'm curious about what you think about it. Luffy has a specifically debilitating weakness to swordsmen in the Pokemon style of type disadvanteges. Nagatoro/Uzaki/Komi/Takagi/DressUpDarling are incel bait for losers. Vegapunks speech was bad because he didnt directly say the WG were evil and responsible for everything (Morj) Usopps speech about wanting to live in Wano is a character flaw thats going to be overcome in Elbaf. Reveals in supplemental media should be counted in critiques of the source material (Vivre cards implying Queen could be Frankys father).

"Yeah, that's just being adult". Look, this is cool and all, but Class 1A was not just some highshool class. These were war veterans that literally bled together and nearly died together. The idea that they would drift apart as regular college graduates is laughable, and puts into question whether they were family in the first place.

Which I take as they can still meet up just not to the degree they’d like. Especially because heroes time off is probably pretty random. Also like, their friends are fine, it’s not like Deku is a neglected pet. As for the armor, why are you assuming they only started working on it recently? They funded it themselves, and they weren’t even out of high school when the series ended. AND they were helping with relief from the war. So getting the money took a while, based on the 8 years and the fact that a way less stable prototype was only affordable by literally all might, it was probably obscenely expensive. Not to mention we have no idea how long it took to make the thing.

They have literally a TECH WIZARD QUIRK USER in the UE academy. This is a guy who defeated Quirk Satan in their universe and was protege of the greatest hero of all time. Any excuses like "It was just too expensive" or "war relief" are laughable. Deku is one of THE MOST IMPORTANT AND INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE in Japan at the time. Start a Go-Fund me for the guy, I'm sure tons of people would fund him. Ask Hero Academy to fund it. And other ways....

So I naturally assume they meet up when they can as friends with extremely busy jobs do. Or should Tsuyu decide “nah I won’t help with the flood that just broke out, I wouldn’t want to be labeled a bad friend.” They are heroes so they prioritize heroics in their life. Hatsume literally did help make it, as did Melissa, it still took a long time. As for why not ask the public, well again they couldn’t right away because y’know Japan was destroyed and in a relief period. As for like idk 3 years later, they’re pro heroes with large salaries they wouldn’t want to put that on the everyday citizen. From my perspective that’s a perfectly believable response and amount of time for what his friends did. If you think it should’ve taken a few less years, uh sure go ahead and think that. Seems like a pretty minute critique.
Luffy having known what it’s like to be alone when he met Ace is some sus writing. If he was raised by Garp then what child would say something like that? I always felt like Luffys mom actually died similar to Usopps or Sanji. Sanjis entire back story and character parallels Luffys so why wouldn’t Luffys mother also parallel Luffys? He’s also the type to randomly talk about his mother only when it becomes relevant just like Ace and Sabo. Idk it’s just one single line but it still has me acting like a schizo about it.
Most of these opinions seem to come from actual children (Who can be forgiven for having them) and people who definitely never actually read any of it and just check out the final chapter to make fun of it
for the deku should or shouldnt need a quirk. wasnt his issue or why he was bullied was because he didnt have a quirk? his low self esteem was a part of his problem sure but it was rooted in the fact his peers all had quirk and he didnt. The reason he was rewarded by all might was because he stepped in to save bakugou despite not having a quirk. So it makes sense why people think deku should have been quirkless.
That’s the same as the Deku should’ve been Batman critique. Mha could’ve been about a guy with no quirk sticking it to his bully and showing how cool being quirkless is. But by chapter 3 readers should be able to tell the story is not going that way. A criticism that completely rejects the entire story is just saying you wanted a different story, in which case go read one.
Also I want to add that the fandoms biggest issue has always been the rampant PROJECTION of their own emotianl hangups which is very annoying. Can't wait for more of these.
"Deku becoming a teacher is a good writing, because he still helps people". Cool opinion. But the ending invalidates it, by Deku ACCEPTING the armor. He never wanted to be a teacher. He wanted to be an pro-hero. And he never foegotten that dream, because the moment he got the opportunity to become one AGAIN, he jumped on it, OVER being a teacher. Perhaps if he rejected it. Perhaps if he chose didferent path over becoming hero again, it would mean something. But he didn't. Or if he was part-time hero in his spare time ALONGSIDE his teacher job, and the armor just allowed him to do it better. But this way.... He passively lived for 8 years, finding something else to do to cope with his lack of powers, until being handed literal Deus Ex Machina AGAIN to become a hero. And also, REALLY??? A teacher? Not an activist? Not someone who helps people with weird quirks? Not someone who wants to change hero society as whole for the better? Even a firefighter or working in an orphanage seems more like appropriate job.
Deku is essentially the equivalent of an athlete that becomes unable to play because an injury so they coach until they’re healed. Not their dream job but it’s related to it, and takes use of the skills and knowledge they’ve developed. Mha has the very obvious theme of anyone can be a hero and heroism comes in many forms. Teaching people is a form of heroism you are helping the next generation grow. Just like singing is clearly shown as a form of heroism that brings people smiles. Not to mention how it ties into the all might dynamic. The final way Deku copies his mentor is by copying not the symbol of peace whose burden is too great to bare, but copying Toshinori the teacher. Finally a non toxic form of emulation.
I'm fairly certain Deku didn't just ditch his teaching job mid semester to be an active hero again, I'm sure he did both. The beauty of him being both a teacher and Pro-Hero is that he takes a direct approach to improving society by being a Hero while also taking an indirect approach to shaping the next generation of Hero's by being a teacher. He embodies the deeper meanings and lessons of the story by being both.
Deku accepting the armor doesn't invalidate anything. if deku is willing to eat hair to get powers why the hell would he be against wearing armor. It doesn't invalidate deku just like all might wearing armor does not invalidate him. Some of the heroes deku idolized had hero equipment the idea that it unvalidates deku is dumb makes no sense. All might his hero he wanted to be like is a teacher deku has no reason to think teaching is a issue. Nobody was saying any of this bs for all might.
