Thats just Brian's humor. I've noticed that he has an incredibly dry sense of humor( a lot like Greg) and it's really hard to tell if he's joking at times.
@AlmostaFlipinSkater I was referring to his story about being away at camp and coming back to see everyone having weird hair. The way he explained it was just kind of confusing to me
How come theres no connection mentioned between Bad Religion and Nirvana?? The punk rock roots in music was planted in the 1980s , without BAD RELIGION, NIRVANA wouldnt have their power , they would sound like any other typical modern rock band
10 years later reply; Nirvana and Bad Religion are tied by 2nd wave; Germs (Pat) and Black Flag specifically influencing Kurt; I've heard a story about Him and Kathleen seeing Green Day at a show in 1990 at Evergreen College? Probably have to double check; Bad Religion and Pearl Jam are particularly tied Eddie On American Jesus.
Favorite Punk Bands: 1. (Death Grips) 2. (Ho99o9) (Beastie Boys) 3. NOFX 4. Suicidal Tendencies (& Metallica, but they aren't really "punk") 5. (Nirvana) 6. Bouncing Souls 7. (Gaslight Anthem) 8. The Unseen 9. (Arctic Monkeys) 10. The Offspring 11. Rancid 12. Ska-P 13. (Rage Against The Machine) 14. (Flogging Molly) 15. Pennywise 16. Slayer (They are hardcore) 17. Blink-182 18. (Iron Maiden, their early work i consider pretty punky, with Paul Di'Anno as a vocalist) 19. Bad Religion (Yes, they are not the best at their craft. Very influential though!!) 20. Ten Foot Pole Honorable mentions: (Reel Big Fish), (Billy Talent), Strike Anywhere, Sum 41, The Flatliners, Guttermouth, Anti-Flag, Sex Pistols, Descendents, Rise Against, Kapitan Korsakov, TC MAtic, Red Zebra, Raketkanon, Green Day, Fugazi, (Jimmy Eat World), The Hives, (Bullet For My Valentine - Guilty Pleasure - ), (Lamb Of God), Ramones, Television THE CLASH So if somebody says 'The Clash is the greatest punk band', these are all punkbands that are better IMO. What band is punk and what is not worth debating IMO but these are punk-ish bands... the bands between ( ) are less clear punk rock, but i mostly like bands who are blending a lot of genres and pull that off very good. Beastie Boys and Metallica (and maybe Iron Maiden and Death Grips) aren't strictly punk rock but they have a punk vibe.
The more time goes on the more I consider James Hetfield to be a punk rocker; The style early on is a mesh it seems of Judas Priest other heavy bands and Punk Influence; dude was a Skater he broke his wrists two seperate times in the mid to late 80s
Jimmy Eat World Hives both skirted PR style they had the spirit just normal dudes i think in another decade or context would of been for sure; Television definitely by style mix and just the bravado of improvising songs like that
Slayer is another band like Iron Maiden where they appeal to both crowds Punk rockers and metal heads are supposed to in theory my stupid world hate Each other's guts but the PRs I knew know listened to Maiden and Thrash the drum timing is just about exact different crowds different walks but I like Bruce dude is like fuck punk rock me irritatingly thinks man your band is absolutely that so strange to see it from different pov
Find the Sound 1981 Adrian Borland that album their first album is just something you should hear songs like Heyday and Missiles are hits total underdog
