I think you'll genuinely enjoy a lot of B1A4's vocal performances, especially the ones before two members left the group (one of which was the lead vocal). I highly suggest you watch their cover of Eternity in Sugarman Season 2 that they performed in 2018. 💖

Siyeon's video might be bad but she's actually one of the few idols who is really good at singing she has a good technique most of the time .

Sandeul and DK are one of my favourite singers in kpop ✨ But the first guy from TXT obviously didn’t want to just make the belting, he wanted it to sound very “growling”, that’s why it sound painful 😅 I can’t say that someone in the compilation was bad 🤷‍♀️

I think often people like to compare Siyeon to classically tained vocalists. Which leads yo people getting angry at eachother. She is a metal vocalist. They have different techniques, some can be harmful to your voice if you are not trained properly. Before her company, she was in metal band which proves her experience. Someone critisizing her techniques from this trained perspective isn't saying she is a bad vocalist. Metal vocalists have always been stylistic. Classically trained vocalists couldn't use metal techniques without proper training either, doesn't mean they are bad vocalists.

Taehyun already showed different types of vocals styles and for this song he used the stressed tone if u all blindnessly complain about Taehyun and txt vocal skills go and watch the videos where they already showed their skills and Taehyun proved he is a skilled vocalist even in their debut era in 20 cm high note and many more and about this vocals he already mentioned he is taking good care of it

i feel like you didnt give taehyun and siyeon any grace for the fact that theyre singing very different genres from the rest of what you considered decent to good belting, because those two you considered bad are doing more of a rock/punk rock that its intended its a bit scratchier lol

For anybody that doesn't know, Siyeon's belt in Break The Wall was not intended to sound clean. It's a more rock themed song, so of course a clean belt wouldn't fit.. To add further context to the concert they ripped this clip from, Siyeon had literally just finished crying moments before. She had been belting absolutely fine, in fact, they had to watch the concert for a whole 1 hour and 50 minutes to get that one clip of Siyeon. If you don't believe me, watch the full concert for yourself, the full concert was re-uploaded, it's called Dreamcatcher Apocalypse 2022 World Tour in Seoul. In Siyeon's case this creator intentionally (possibly maliciously) chose that specific example when they could have shown her many other belts in cover songs she's done like Aladdin's Speechless (where it's widely regarded as one of the song's best covers), Shadow (Dark Hole's OST where the main rapper of the group also belts), Bon Voyage as I've mentioned, BOCA to name a few if you wanted quick examples. There are so many examples of Siyeon belting well especially live and throughout that specific concert, you literally have to go far out of your way to find something and intentionally misconstrue it. If you don't believe me, I encourage you to go look it up for yourself and watch.

"bad belting" doesn't mean bad sounding. it's just unhealthy and can cause strain on their vocal chords over time. it's sometimes even preferred for more rock sounds to have a strained belting sound.

Eunji is and will always be something special Girl body all her seniors at debut with that note in I don’t know at 16-18 (idk how old she was but idols be young so lol) with a smile on her face

This creator obviously has something against Taehyun. In his career, a singer will have moments when they don't sound perfect, but you are only pointing those out for Th, when he literally is an amazing singer that slayed this belting technique many times

EXCELLENT baiting technique, you're driving engagement, but have managed to avoid getting nasty about it. I've seen kpop fan videos in this genre get vicious and they could take notes from you on this. I'm not being sarcastic, I really wish they would, it is scary out there. It's very obvious that these clips are being judged in a specific framework. So I can't get offended because the rock style that Siyeon is famous for is not appropriate for that context. If she belted like that in most opera or musical theater settings, it would be bad. Of course there's some where it would work, but the vast majority are not rock. I actually think this is a really interesting comparison of techniques, framing notwithstanding, and I like that the male and female sections are all in similar styles. I don't know if this is possible, but it would be super cool if you could compare vocalists as they sing in different genres like r&b, musical theater, and... idk another genre 😅. As in, vocalists who have done more than one genre and the differences in how they sing them.

5 generation: no belting

I gotta tell yall something that the first one I mean Taehyun, the vocalist from TXT who’s singing 0X1 = Love Song. He is singing in that way intentionally to convey the emotions of the song. He consulted the vocal trainers and other specialists for that attempt luckily it’s not affecting his vocal cords. And they added something so unrelated to this video, they could’ve included Taehyun’s and Kai’s actual belting instead of ruining his reputation with malicious shorts like this. Maybe they’re just expressing their hate towards TXT like this maybe?

Taehyun does not sound bad. He did well. The difference is that the song Taehyun is singing is an emo/ punk rock song hence, the scratchy/raspy belting. On the other hand, the rest of the singers are belting while singing pop songs and ballads, which requires a certain type of belting which is more distinct and clear.

These are quite nice examples. On the topic of belting, I'd like to suggest you check Vanessa Amorosi. She's an amazing belter (I'd say she's relative to Sohyang); yet, she's incredibly underappreciated.

The first one isnt bad belting, hes vocal frying and doing screamo(common rock and metal techniques) to add flavor to it (similar to when singers scream instead of belt in order to add feeling)

Wait, before you all start agreeing and hating on idols please read this!!! All of those belts were great. Everyone saying Taehyun was bad… guys he was using head-voice. When singers belt, they draw air from their diaphragm and their pitch and breath is longer, smoother, and a clean flow, this is chest-voice. Now, Taehyun and DK were using head-voice. With this, they sing more through their throat/upper torso, maybe even their nose, and they draw breath from their lungs rather than using their diaphragm. This makes the sound more raw, with cracks, and more gravelly, but it’s all intentional. Honestly, a lot of people consider both types to be belting, but if you take that approach then you need to understand that there are different types of belting and belting techniques. Usually a bad belt is characterized as shaky, unstable, short duration, flat, and/or off tune. His wasn’t any, but it was only gravelly, and again intentional. Taehyun and Soobin even mentioned how strained their voices were from doing gravelly head-voice, but it was how they were supposed to sound since the album was more rock than pop. Belting can be punchy/intense or smooth/resonant/light; It all depends on the technique and style which can be different due to genre. Just cause someone hits a high note doesn’t define their belt as amazing and perfect. It’s not about the note you hit it’s about the execution. Each idol executed very good and different belting styles. can you react to Jay Chang's singing? I'm not well versed in what counts as good singing but i believe he actually has really good control over his voice and does well with high notes e.g in Over Me, Love Me Right and more recently Dangerously
