Another symptom is if you don’t have an external leak, check the motor oil. If it has a weird tint to it, not like usual motor oil, and it has a higher amount of fluid in the engine block, then your water pump is leaking inside the motor
Good question. It depends on how bad the pump is,.the thermostat is close to the radiator when vehicle is cold so its still possible for heat to radiate as the coolant gets hot but will take a lot longer.
@@Motorcarnut oh I see. I'm currently having a coolant leak but car is not overheating and heat is strong. Some say it could be the water pump, hoses or radiator. Would u know anything about leaks?
Without the car in front of me that’s tough. Can leak from anywhere the coolant travels. Best thing to do would be to park the car on a dry spot of ground overnight and next day see what location underneath the car is leaking on the ground. That would give you a starting point.
@@Motorcarnut ya that's what I did and it turned out to be on the passenger side kinda between the middle more on the back side. I'm taking it to my mechanic tomorrow to perform a pressure test, hopefully its just a hose..
@@Motorcarnut I had a leak and filled up 2 times in a day. The second time I filled up the coolant stopped leaking and levels are still top. It’s been 3 days since my top up..any idea what this could be?
Could it be water pump if car over heats while in park ? Don’t see a leak but it look like my coolant in reservoir never moves at all and my fans won’t turn off
