Great video… you are right on by turning on the heat on to load check a water pump. I had a water pump changed on my ‘98 Jeep Wrangler because the heater wouldn’t put out heat. All of the impeller blades were completely gone with no leaks , bearing noise, or engine overheating. Please keep up the good videos!😄

I think I’m having the same problem on my 02 ford econoline. I’ll get a little bit of heat at first then it goes back to cool, it blows on all 4 settings but that little bit of heat is gone really quick. We’re you having something similar happening?

jus found out my water pump was bad 2-3days ago i addressed everything in my cooling system and that was the last part i didnt change i ended up overheating my car a bit and parked it up then ordered it and did the job 3-4 days later moral of the story replace everything when you want to do a cooling system on a car

The best way to know your car is broken is to check the emblem or badging. If it is a Chrysler fiat vehicle. It is probably broken.

Hmmm... my Tacoma was covered with Toyota emblems and guess what? That junk had so many issues we called it the Lemona 🍋 It spent more time on the dealership's lift than it did in our garage, lol. My Jeep? Zero issues. My wife's Rav4? Water leaking down the inside of the windshield AND the rear hatch. Worse part is trying to get Toyota to stand behind their useless warranty.

Man trust me i agree on so many levels. My radiator hose broke my 2013 200 and replaced this. Then after four days of driving my damn serpentine belt slipped off. Mainly for coolant getting on it. Replaced that along with the idle pulleys and tension pulley. Get like 10 blocks from my mechanic and no my water pump needs to be replaced. Im so sick of Chrysler cars and once I'm back on track im going to get me something else. Being there only car in the household and paid off. The misses wants to keep it, for what? I should've followed my first instinct and traded the crap in fir a newer model of a different car maker. Trying to be the good fiancee and not having the misses argue with me. But Al the money I've been putting into getting this fix, that fix in a short time frame. I should've just got rid of it period

Interesting...my car was starting to sound raggedy the other day, a shop said it's the water pump and you talking about the heating system I was thinking my heater core was bad because it's not heating but could be from the pump.... thanks!!!!

Thanks for this. I just recently started hearing that same noise. I'll put water into the water bottle and within a few minutes it'll leak out and that's with the engine off. When the engine is on it doesn't leak out until I reach home . Now I know what's going on. Thanks

During the cold months sometimes when my engine temp is normal I don’t get any heat unless the motor is above 1500-2000 rpm. When I stop at a light it goes cold.

@@gabegarcia7779 This pump is belt driven. Most likely the belt will be thrown off the pulley and all accessories on the front of the engine will no longer operate. Before that occurs, engine coolant will be lost trough the shaft seal causing the bearing to fail and loss of coolant will cause the engine to overheat. Probably, the shaft seal is already leaking or will begin to leak in the near future. The leaking engine coolant will expedite water pump shaft bearing failure. On some vehicles (rear wheel drive vehicles), the radiator cooling fan is mounted to the water pump shaft, which will begin to wobble as the bearing fails. A wobbling fan can create a hazzard by hitting things such as the radiator.

Mine was working but you could see the belt wobbling on the pulley. I replaced it before it really failed and caused a bigger issue.

There's a weep hole on the bottom side of the pump that will usually start leaking coolant once the seal behind the bearing starts to go out. I've had bad water pump bearings before with no signs of leaking.

Do you know why when it's damp or rainy out, and in the cold mornings in the dead of winter... I hear a noise ...like.... errr...rrrrr..rrr speeds up when I give it gas...even goes away. But within a few minutes, it's gone. On dry nice days...no noise at all. ( I do need to replace my belt..old cracked.) Thank you for your terrific videos! 👍💪

It can be caused by two things. 1. It's getting moisture from some where landing on a belt or pulley and will make noise until eventually drys up once the engine runs for awhile 2. You got a bad belt or pulley. Belt can be old n make noise. Pulleys have bearing and make noise like squeaking or griding if the bearing inside are dried out. But from the info you provided I say it's just moisture. But wouldn't hurt to replace a belt.

My niece has a brand new Elantra Hyndai she got in 2022 but its a 2023 and its been a year yesterday and now she said she went to Auto Zone for a diagnostic and they are saying its her water pump thats the issue. Its it too early for this? I have an Infiniti and never had a water pump issue so Im not sure what to do.

I assume my WP is shot, new one just came in I’m just waiting for seals and timing belt to do the full job. It’s a 1999 Miata, the coolant is low when cold and overflows/boils/gurgles when hot. Also started leaking onto the crankshaft pulley. What are the chances my head is warped? I just bought the car a couple months ago and I’ve been replacing everything I can but I’m constantly having problems. Any insight would be much appreciated 🫡

I had my check engine light come on and off within like 2 hours time. This happened 2-3 weeks ago.. I scanned it right when it happened and it came up with a code for “super charger sensor” then disappeared… Nothing noticeably different while driving what’s so ever.. but a day after the code popped up and went away I start hearing a weird clanking/grinding like noise only when idling, As if one of my pulley went bad. I tell this mechanic that looked at it yesterday exactly what I just explained right.. So he looks at it and tells me that my supercharger was the cause of the noise, as well as the supercharger pulley tensioner.. I have another guy look at it and without even taking it apart he looks, listens and tells me within 5 mins that it’s my water pump pulley that is bad. He’s 1000% sure not my supercharger. He said I would’ve had black smoke coming from my exhaust , loss of power along with some type excessive whining; in which none of this I experienced.. What are your thoughts? Any and every opinion is very appreciated

Yup replaced mine twice for noise. Jeep water pumps must be crap. Never in my life have I had them fail in such a short mileage. Had over 200k on a ford original water pump, an unknown amount of miles on an old Chevy original water pump, and I know I put 130k on it when I bought it 🤷‍♂️.

My Heat is not working... My car is overheating extremely quick... The coolant is not like little bubbles but like pushing back up out of the radiator valve or whatever where you pour the coolant into. Do you think this is my thermostat or water heater or I pray it's not a head gasket. The fan is real loud when it's just sitting idle. I'm so scared it's a head gasket. I'm a new single mom and because of a injury I literally can only drive to make money for me and my girls. Every second I don't have a car is a bigger chance I'm going to lose everything for us.😢

My car would sometimes do that but then afterwards the temp gauge will spark RIGHT back up past the temp where it was before I meshed down on the gas. The longer I do it the hotter it gets. I had the temp go almost past the 3rd quarter mark when I was merging on a highway.

That, or the engine could have cracked. Get underneath and check it, there's no other way if you don't have the finances.

Yup, start it up and go underneath and with a light, see where its coming from! They make die as well you can add to coolant to help trace it down. Could be a hose, thermostat, water pump or etc.

My dodge charger r/t (2006) automatically pushes heat out of the core when i turn the engine on. So if I test my pump by turning the heat on I wouldn't know for sure. I'm going to try it and see bc my car has been overheating and I've already tested the T stat. It's not the T Stat.

Quick question man need urgent help so I replaced my radiator and oil cooler cause my car was overheating now it fixed it but when I gas it and go fast it starts to over heat but then it’ll stabilize quickly . Also my AC doesn’t work hot nor cold but I fixed all of that I also changed the thermostat and still it gets hot at times and rn I went to go get food it was over heating I’m curious maybe it’s the water pump? Idk what else it could be tbh

Water pump mine did that all last summer, water pump wasn’t leaking or making noise, but I’ll be damned it stopped overheating and now it’s doing it again and I’m thinking it went bad again because I never went a whole year without it overheating again so I’m back to replacing the water pump again luckily it’s under a lifetime warranty with oreillys so it’s a free replacement

BMW 325i started overheating out of nowhere. The only way I was able to drive home was to turn the heat all the way on and kept the engine cool enough. I checked under the car. No sign of leaking. Coolant only disappears when the engine is running. Any ideas?

if your water pump fails it shouldn't get coolant in your oil unless you over heat it and blow a headgasket

@@dutchplanderlinde3456 you're right. Even though Chevrolets don't have an internal water pump that, when it fails, it spills the coolant into the oil - like some Fords do - a blown head gasket can always ruin your day much in the same way.

Check the temperature. If everything is fine it should be working as it should .The temperature should be steady at about 195 and stay there .

I do not believe so I have never heard of somebody getting an error code for it usually check it for leaks, odd noises, or bad heat out put like he was talking about.

Labor alone is at least 1k, parts if you get OEM, which you should, is another about $700. You’re getting timing kit, water pump, thermostat, oil gallery gaskets, and a few other things since the water pump is timing chain driven and you’ll already be in there

I'm an honest troll. The seal consists of a rubber seal on a porcelain base. If your running just water? There's no lube for the seal. The bearings go out, coolant is a lubricant. Its call glycal.

Thought it was my tensioner, or idler pulley squeeking. Because of no weephole coolant drip. No loose radiator fan or water pump pulley play at all. Spent weeks trying to diagnose this because my fan shroud is 10" wide, and I need to dump coolant out, and remove the upper & lower radiator hoses, and AC lines! Even a stethescope won't help with the big metal radiator fan spinning. So after spending $60 on a new tensioner and serpentine belt, I find out it's the waterpump bearing that can't be individually replaced because (corporate greed?) And it's another $80 - 100 for a whole new water pump? (Hey let's all continue to vote Republican in order to fuck ourselves as consumers. It's the American way 😃). Thanks for this hack, tho! Taking my belt off again for the 10th time in 3 weeks to spin that waterpump pulley to confirm that it's not a fan clutch bearing. Then buy a big adjustable wrench to replace my pump. I just look forward to getting rid of the squeek. But needed a new tensioner and belt soon, anyhow.

The logic here....democrate gets elected prices and inflation are out of control but you feel like Republicans are the problem lol and you make a water pump video political? If the same logic has been used on the vehicle you may just take it to someone.

@@GingerBear519 The other thing is that you can tell.l just had the same problem with my old w203 mercedes. Heard a rattling sound coming from the front of the motor. Took the belt off checked everything like the tensioner pulleys ect ,and they were not loose, so by the process of elimination I pulled the water pump and it had a worn out bearing ...there is no weep hole and there are 17 bolts of different sizes holding it on....that's why I wished it would have been something else that was easier to replace ,but it just didn't work out that way ...why cry about it ? Old parts wear out ,that water pump was 20 years old ,it did its thing now it's time to replace it .Now I remember why I watched this video too
