Badminton Footwork -The Lunge!! Why you've got more to give than you think... MOVEMENT BASICS
The badminton footwork for the lunge has got a lot of attention from coaches but not many coaches stress this ONE detail that can change your entire game for the better 🏸 👣
It's a basic change of intent, but it acts like a cheat code that can unlock a whole new level in your badminton!! 🌍💫
The usual points have been covered:
- Lunge on the heel, this acts as a brake
- Point the toe in the direction of travel to reduce the risk of injury (rolled ankle)
- The racket-leg actively receives the ground (active muscles)
- Hold an upright torso where possible to assist the accuracy of the stroke or shot
- The non-racket leg is brought in as a shock absorber and helps you recover quicker
In this video I explain how improving your lunging ability makes covering the forecourt lot easier, it opens up a new level of tactical options in the rear court because when you're closer to the rear court, you are onto the shuttle more immediately 🏃♂️💨
In a game where travelling forward is far easier than moving backwards, help yourself as much as possible!! 🧠
I hope this video helps you go up a level and improves your badminton performance.
Keep your eyes peeled for a long overdue 'Skill Development' series also in production 👀
