Installation of the Bagoros Performance crash bobbins on to the KTM Duke 390, 125, 250. This is a very simple install and allows crash protection when I'm not running the crash cage. Check to make sure that this fits your bike as KTM did make some changes.

Like the video and it is well done and I do understand why you have fitted bobbins and not a crash cage. I hope your bobbins are never tested but if they are I hope they offer more protection than the R&G bobbins that were fitted to my Suzuki GSR750. I was tipped off at 60mph by a swerving car and the right hand side crash bobbin was the first thing the break off as the bike slid down the road. They are probably good for a slow speed tip over, but for my 390 Duke I invested in SW-Motech engine bars. The GSR750 forks were damaged as it slid down the road so for the Duke I am now on the hunt for some fork protectors ( axle bungs? )as fitted to your bike in the video but I can't see them listed anywhere. I am reluctant to deal with R&G. The Bagoros bungs may be expensive but when cheap mean "No good" then saving money is like wasting money. Happy new year.

Thanks. Bobbins are intended to be sacrificial and should break off if hit hard enough, otherwise they risk bending the frame, but some have a poor reputation and I've not heard much good of the R&G ones, which is why I've fitted these instead. The Motech engine bars have a poor reputation for bending the frame on the 390 - personally I wouldn't fit them and if you run the Powerparts cage with fork sliders etc then you don't need them. I normally run the Powerparts cage, which is the best option by a huge margin if you want protection and which I've tested on both low and high siding. It will go back on once I'm back to falling off the bike. The protectors on my forks are Bagoros Performance but long as suits a stunt product - I prefer to buy protection parts from a stunt products company because they have a lot of experience of what happens when the bike hits the deck and BP have a lot of experience with crashing the small Dukes. They also do shorter ones, similar to the Powerparts, but better looking. As a small company their parts aren't cheap and quickly go out of stock - I see the don't currently have the shorter fork sliders for example. Happy New Year to you too! :)

I remember you used to have the crash bars installed. What don’t you like about them, how do they compare to this setup, etc? Now that you’ve used both of the major options, maybe you could do a video comparing them.
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius 2 года назад
Thanks for the suggestion - I've already covered it in passing, but a review video would be good. I like the crash cage - if what you care most is protection then I would recommend them. The crash bobbins suit people who want some protection but also want the bike to look close to stock.

@@MotoMirius a review between the OEM crash cage and these bobbins would be nice to see! Also I’m pretty curious which parts of the bike will be touched when you have bagoros front sliders, these crash bobbins and the subcage installed. Can you make a video about this please?

Hi this is unrelated but my 2019 Duke 125 won't start and it's not the battery as it's fully charged and the horn lights work etc. And it turns over bit it's not catching and starting I have recently watched it so maybe water in the spark plug or something what do you think it could be?
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius 2 года назад
Water could be an issue, especially if you've used a pressure washer (not recommended for bikes without a lot of care). It it was fine before, it's most likely just water where it shouldn't be. Not the spark plug - that gets water in it every time you ride in the rain and it's pretty well tucked away under the tank. Give it chance to dry out and try again. Good luck!

the upper eyelet cracked on my frame, to which the engine support is attached on the right side, tell me, if you know, is it possible to weld the eyelet back to the motorcycle frame without removing the electrics?

Yes, it is normally possible to weld on the frame - but the electronics should all be disconnected - your welder should be aware of this.

Could these crash bobbins be installed at the same time as the stock ktm powerparts crash cage? Or do they use the same mounting spots that can't be shared? I have ordered the stock crash cage but I'm worried that since it's so low down that it wouldn't be able to protect the radiator if it went down.
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius Месяц назад
No, they both use the same mounting points. The stock crash cage will protect the radiator in most crashes - the bike will slide on the cage and handlebars. Of course it's still possible for something like a kerb to take out the radiator but you can't reasonably mitigate all risks.
@ntdeas
@ntdeas Месяц назад
@@MotoMirius awesome, thank you so much sir! I'm going to be practicing gymkhana in a closed parking lot for the next 5 months with my Duke 390 2021 but then I plan on taking it to track days after that. The set up for gymkhana that I'm working on putting on will be Bagoros's front spindle sliders, subcage, bar ends with lever guards, radiator guard, x-crash exhaust protector, and their paddock stand bobbins with the stock KTM Power parts crash cage. I'm thinking that when it's time for me to switch to track days that I'll get this set of crash bobbins from Bagoros in your video and swap it out for the stock crash cage then add the Bagoros ignition cover and clutch cover protectors and I'm thinking that I'll need to take off the subcage. I'm not sure how to best set it up for the track but I'm thinking that the stock crash cage and Bagoros subcage won't be allowed on a track. I'm also thinking about going with the Coober ECU, air box cover, and cat delete power kit.
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius Месяц назад
@@ntdeas You will need to check what is and is not allowed on the tracks you wish to ride at and make your decisions from there. Coober is typically a reliable unit, but I'm not a major fan of the foam type lids - they work, but make sure you inspect them carefully to ensure that the foam is not coming unstuck.

@fitz235
@fitz235 2 года назад
@@MotoMirius I ask because I'll finally be installing mine this weekend (Same cage). I'm also worried it gives no protection to the radiator. And I believe with the power parts cage installed, it blocks up the space to install frame sliders like yours in this vid which would protect the radiator.
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius 2 года назад
@@fitz235 You are right, you can't fit frame sliders. I have low and highsided the bike with no damage to the radiator - cage is just fine. I would recommend that you fit fork sliders to prevent damage to the forks and this will also allow more room to protect the radiator.

There is a taper on the left side of the bar(in the later model kit), to clear the bracket inside the frame. Just make sure you get the right kit!

How to put a tft display on Duke 250
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius 2 года назад
Unlikely to happen - you will need the right wiring loom and ECU. This is a CanBus system, you can't just connect up the wires. If you can find somewhere that KTM sells the 250 with a TFT then you may be able to buy the parts, perhaps from a crashed bike, to make the conversion. But hard for me to say - here all the models have a TFT so no one needs this conversion.
