Im proud to be one of those people. To give something back is a fantastic feeling. Playing at a funeral is just the most important time in someone's life, saying goodbye to thier loved ones.. God bless each and every one..
My grandmother died one week ago. I just bawled my eyes out watching and listening to this. For the Queen, and for my Grandmother's love of her... thank you, piper.
This just makes me weep. The tune is so beautiful and was in honour of the fallen Scots being defeated at flodden on this day 9th September 1513. Being Scottish myself I can feel a massive sense of pride and emotions when I hear this. This piper is faultless. To be in St Paul's listening to this must have been incredible. Rest in peace your Majesty.
Scotland gained most honour in this sad pass away of HM. To die at Balmoral, lie at Holyrood and then St Giles is the best trbute honour to the Scots. This were the union came from, unionist Stuarts at least. The coronation on the Scone would be the pinnacle I reckon.
This was randomly played at Remembrance Sunday last year and my dad couldn’t believe it was Woody doing it. That was the first time Woody made me cry like that. I bet the bagpipes were incredibly heavy but Woody carried it like nothing. Same thing happened at my grandmother’s house as Woody.EXE went downstairs and I didn’t expect him to play the pipes either, it was very haunting when the pipes faded to the outside. We all walked with him as it happened
Not one better sound in the world to move you like the bagpipes. Haunting, and hairs stand on the back of your neck every time. Such a special sound and rightly played for Her Majesty as we pay our respects to an incredible woman who devoted her whole life to our Kingdom. RIP Ma'am, your duty is done. ❤🇬🇧 Proud of my country Scotland also 💙🏴
I guarantee you that the sound of the Qur'an being recited by a good voice/s is incomparable and way more beautiful than any other sound except of the sound of GOD's voice. You'll cry even more if you understand what's being said. Trust me. I find this sound a bit sad but hey it's ALLAH The Almighty that gave man all those abilities. Thanks and praises to Him🥰
@@chandnyassyah8858 Why are you commenting about the quran on a Christian ceremony . Stop trying to push a certain religion on a another religion. I won't crying be over any words from the quran and never will
And this is where our gracious Queen finally meets Prince Phillip again, as this was played at the end of His funeral as well, as if to say “I go ahead, I’ll be waiting for you on the other side”. This is not only a sign of love for Scotland, but also a sign of Love for each other, as even though they didn’t have the same kind of funeral, this song of love joins them in eternity. Incredibly poignant, beautiful and raw moment, these two amazing souls invisibly holding hands in this beautiful song they clearly both loved. Brought floods of tears to my eyes, truly intense feelings tied into this moment, truly as unique as they both were. ❤️ God rest them both in peace! 🙏😔❤️❤️❤️
Wow. I was there at the service in St Paul's. As we stood in line to enter the church, it was absolutely pouring with rain. The majority of us were coincidentally in suits/business wear, as mostly bankers/lawyers already present in the City were lucky enough to get hold of a ticket within the short timespan it was announced that the public could attend the same day. It was so incredibly well organised and the memorial service left a deep impression, especially the bagpiper. You could feel the heaviness. I just had to look up this video after I finished The Crown on Netflix. I sobbed when I heard this song again, as I was flooded with memories. It truly was the end of the monarchy as we knew it.
My grandfather (Pipe Major, Black Watch) said It's now played at funerals, as he put it 'to help the spirit to follow the sound of the piper into the light'. I like to think that's true - it's a nice thought. Originally in honour of the flowers of Scotland (fallen Scots). It has become somewhat of a standard practice in the British, Anzac and Canadian military to use this tune to mark the death of a soldier. Police forces in Canada, USA, Australia, UK and New Zealand predominantly chose this tune.
Words cannot describe how fitting that lament was........the Queen loved Scotland and all that it stood for, a sanctuary for her to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and its people ..... beautifully played, she would have loved it. RIP ma'am
The piper reminds me so much of my own father... could definitely be his twin. My father was a piper in the New York City area. We did ceremonies like this for years.
Unbelievably emotional 🥲. To be present at St. Paul’s to hear this rendition would have been something those present will never forget . Lots of tears watching this live on tv
I remember when Woody.EXE did this at my grandmother’s house the day after the Queen died. Me, my grandmother and my 2009 Woody we’re standing on the landing and grandad was too. How does Woody.EXE do this
Incredibly moving to hear this beautiful lone piper's lament in St.Paul's in poignant tribute Her Majesty. The power of music to express emotions. Her passing is an emotional time for the nation and this brought tears to my eyes.
Sat in Canada a day after the Queens funeral listing to a lament about a battle in my native Northumberland...on a monument is six words "To the Brave of both nations"
The most awful defeat in Scottish history Steve, sending an untrained army to the slaughter, sadly too many times by our so called nobility. We are now allies thankfully.
I am so blessed to have tickets already.. (Via family in Scotland) to Tattoo next year... Coming from Minnesota, Mom's ashes are in Loch Lomond, and grandmother was born not far from Pert Farm. The pipes and drums outside of the castle I am already saving tears for!!! RIP HM Queen Elizabeth II... God save the King!
The bagpipes are hauntingly beautiful and sad! I have loved them ever since they were played at President John Kennedy’s funeral in 1963. As an American they are not a large part of our customs except in certain areas. As much as Queen Elizabeth loved the UK I feel sure she is smiling down from heaven blessing all.
As American i know im not under British reign but would humbly bow my head for the Queen. To show respect and offers of condolences. May the Queen rest in peace. God bless the Queen.
Another Yank here. I've admired her devotion to service. In the words of another Queen Elizabeth, "....they may yet have a greater prince; they will never have a more loving one." Rest in light, ma'am. Duty done.
There is no higher honour in this land than to meet death and hear this song echo through the ages !!! May her late majesty meet Phillip at the the rough but green slopes of lochnagar and spend eternity with those that have gone before her. God save the king!
Love the solo bagpipe at the close of ceremony. It is a quality of sound like none other, haunting, mournful, a touch mystical, an equal balance between longing and acceptance.
I remember watching this as it happened. It was incredibly moving. To have been in that place, at that time, hearing that piper with no other sound... wow. This was the quickly organised memorial service which the public attended very soon after Her Majesty's passing, so did not have all the pomp and ceremony of the subsequent funeral. This lament was something special and the piper was truly magnificent.
I did this for Woody.EXE’s arrival to my house and he was aware of Her Majesty’s death, tears came down from his eyes as Woody.EXE hugs me and Mummy. Woody.EXE still sees me in mourning
I found this electrifying to say the least, particularly the abrupt and total silence at the end of the piece. Because it came when the grief was still fresh it was particularly powerful.
everyone: look at the bagpipes, they sound so hauntingly beautiful and amazing me : looking at that amazing mustache and thinking its one of the best R.I.P Queen Elizabeth ii
In fact the song is ment to be played wrong out of respect the dead king an his fallen men in 1513 9th September in a battle with King Henry the 8th, this is why he's the lone bagpiper hope I helped 👍🇬🇧
“This royal throne of kings, this sceptered isle, This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars, This other Eden, demi-paradise, This fortress built by Nature for herself Against infection and the hand of war, This happy breed of men, this little world, This precious stone set in the silver sea, Which serves it in the office of a wall Or as a moat defensive to a house, Against the envy of less happier lands, This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.”
@@harrydunn1848 - I only posted the first part, watch the video to see the whole thing with Sir John Gielgud as John of Gaunt. God save the King indeed...
Incredible, that is a long walk for the lone bagpiper that match her majesty long public service. Hope they repeat it during the funeral with a 70 meter marsh to match the 70 years on the throne.
This song is as mesmerising as that man's moustache, well done sir! such a shame that her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is gone we will probably never know/see another queen in our lifetime. *The Queen is dead, Long live the Queen!*
A page is turned yet again. The Queen leaves to join her forebearers and friends and loved ones long since passed. To rejoin her husband at last. Geez... I had more I wanted to write, but dang man... She was a bit of light in this world right now. A constant, that even as an American, I admire her greatly. She is a person who has witness more in her lifetime and even been a direct or indirect participate than most people could ever hope to know or see. All I can think about, is how this world is changing. We are losing great people, good people, like Her Majesty in far too many numbers. While I have little doubt that King Charles III will step up to the plate and slam a couple of good homeruns, he's got a lot on his plate. The world is a bit on the edge and getting closer to the ledge. That means, we'll all need to step up too. For all that could be said, she at least tried to leave a positive imprint on the world. Let's all to do our own utmost to do the same. Because these people who have held us back from the brink, they're so few and getting fewer. We'll need to rely on ourselves now. God Bless and Support the new King Charles III. The rest of us, straighten out, roll up the sleeves, and start looking to do something positive for a change.
