Bagua's Masters Meeting, Beijing 1993

The misinformation commonly circulated about the history of Shao Jiao has been bothering me for years. I'd long hoped someone would tackle the issue and Byron Jacobs has done an excellent job clearly laying out the origins and history of the art while including many historical sources. He's also got a great series on the history of the Shaolin temple that are well worth watching. I would recommend you watch this film on his channel and while you're there take a look at his other videos, especially the videos he has made on various aspects of Chinese martial arts history. This is wonderful, I had no idea this video existed! Who was the tall Western guy towards the end of the video? I saw a lot of Bagua masters that I know well. This is a great resource. Does anyone where 朱家务Zhujiawu is and if there is anything in Dong Haichuan's honor there now?

He can be seen sitting at the desk at about 0:32 (leftmost fellow). I think it's him at the close-up at 0:47 as well. Might be him at 6:45 but again, not absolutely sure (I thought I heard his name by the narrator, but my Chinese is not good enough to follow).

That looks like Master Liu Xiao Ling at 4:37. He lives and teaches in the DC area now.

Gao style sraight line bagua, is not really bagua at all. It doesn’t look like Bagua, feel like it or perform like it during sparring either. I’m tired of having to pretend like I respect it as well. I’ve practiced several different styles of bagua including Gao style and their post heaven forms are just flat out garbage. If you want to practice it fine but please let’s not act like the post heaven forms are bagua. It is just a worse version of xing yi.
