Deku has always been the best friend that Bakugo could have ever asked or hoped for, but his pride and obsession with proving that he was strong blinded him and made him start pushing that very friend away (the fact that Bakugo allowed Deku to call him "Kacchan" even from the start shows just how close they truly were, as I think we all know how poorly he would have reacted to someone else giving him a nickname like that and using it in public). But here, Bakugo proved just how strong he truly is. Physical strength is one thing, but to be truly strong, you have to be willing to be weak and vulnerable even in the face of the people who matter the most to you, as it shows that you trust them to be there for you even at your weakest and most vulnerable. Bakugo did exactly that here, by having this exchange with Deku not in private but in front of all of Class 1-A, he laid it all out in the open, both the good and the bad, and admitted to his faults and mistakes, which must have felt like drinking bile to someone as proud and arrogant as Bakugo. And it took watching the best friend he'd ever had try to shoulder everything on his own, and driving himself towards his own self-destruction, that led to Bakugo finally realizing and admitting how badly he'd screwed up, and showing just how much he was willing to risk to get his best friend back safe.

@@reesebellei790so you think the guy who uses fire powers being related to the guy who uses fire powers is a good twist? also how many times is AFO gonna come up with some convoluted strategy, And why make a cast of 20 characters if you’re just gonna use 3 throughout the story, it’s the Naruto paradox, I rather a smaller cast that all get time to shine rather than a big cast of missed potential, like with JJK, that show understand stakes and using characters to full potential
@@ragnaricstudios5888 Right because hisachi midorya is related to shoto, and kota is related to manuel, how insiteful. Also dabi had major forshadowing to having something to do with endevor and with the theorists and tropes (not bad writing) that was predicted, not most the other tropes. AfO is meant to be a more mysterious "man in the chair, mafioso" villian so his vaugeness does work. Also the bigger cast helps broden the world, and most have their moments either in the main show, or spin offs like vigilantes or team up missions. Also dissagree with jjk (only wathed anime, still overall like), I mean yuji dies, has no relevance to story, nighteye and midnight die carries more weight. Half the main cast dies in mid way point, meh, a few big names and a bunch of random's die in first arc, we see the pain and repercussions more. Also "no stakes" not only unoriginal, but false, just overshadowed by a few things that people overreact to, like how their are only a few conqurors haki users in one peice, but it feels like more.
Did you notice it? Deku was leaning against the one guy (Kirishimi? still learning their names) but it was only when in the arms of his childhood rival/best friend, did he finally let himself succumb to exhaustion.
i mean i would too. id be hella shocked if someone who ive followed and followed but always hated me apologized for all the torment theyve caused me for years
For those who say this character development is trash rewatch the show it makes this so surreal he was a guy that never let his emotions show and was more egotistical now he’s more empathetic and more mature and I like this development a lot! W character development Hirokoshi!!
This honestly came out of nowhere, and its what made it so wild and unexpected. I knew bakugo was slowly changing, but then he dropped all this. Still feels unreal
The scene that made so many people drop the show, Bakugo swallowing his pride and casting aside his arrogance and apologizing to his best friend, and the Bakugo fans were like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOW DARE THEY RUIN BAKUGOAT. those people really missed the point of this scene
Are you serious wtf? So him not being angry for 2 minutes and apologizing is ruining him? If anything it makes him better. Of all the stupid things to drop the show over.
I think...it's the most genuine apology ever written. And honest. It sounded like Bakugo meant every word he said after realizing how much he's felt since he and Izuku were kids.
Really? It's one of the most well-earned antagonist apologies to me. It's obvious the story was leading up to this with Bakugou's character, were you just not paying attention?

And my biggest gripe against this apology and Bakugo's development in general is the fact that he wouldn't be saying any of this if Deku didn't inherit OFA and get into UA. Bakugo's character arc starts and ends with Deku. Even after this apology he has to force himself to be nice to Deku, something the little idiot tells him not to do, again reinforcing his toxic behavior. Not once has Bakugo been called out for being an ass, his relationship with Deku is Stockholm as hell. And they have the nerve to claim he's Deku's best friend? That speaks more to Deku's bad writing but still.
@@javorislittle312 Deku and Bakugo have a unique relationship in that major developments in their characters involve each other. Would Bakugo have changed if Deku hadn't gotten a quirk? Maybe, maybe not - Maybe the path to being a hero would change him more than you think. Would Deku have gotten One For All if Bakugo hadn't been in danger? Again, maybe, maybe not - It's kind of useless speculating about because it isn't the story. And if you think Bakugo is only apologizing because Deku has a quirk, I think you should reread the manga. Bakugo didn't hate Deku because he didn't have a Quirk, he hated him because he believed Deku thought he was better and he hated that Deku offered him help. And I would argue its bad writing to make a character do a complete 180 turn after one applogy. Character development is slow. And Deku's attitude towards his lifelong bully IS strange, but that's kind of the nature of shonen protagonists. Strong, full of light, and a little delusional - Deku breaks his arms for 3 straight seasons and throws himself into near-death experiences for strangers. I don't think Deku is "Stockholm", I think the bullying just didn't affect him nearly as much as you think it did.
@@PseyechoSamurai This just comes across as one-sided. A bully dumping his issues on his victim, just like in their last fight. You never get an insight on how their dynamic made Deku feel all these years. Bakugo bullied him for basically being handicap and Deku never addresses it. It's the worst aspects of the Nice Guy trope, and this lack of insight is why he's no longer popular or interesting in his own damn series.
@javorislittle312 I agree with you, I like mha but what's keeping me from loving it is the writing, it's not very good tbh. I've been waiting for this moment but it didint make me feel anything, it was poorly executed and rushed.
