Rapidly becoming my favourite photography RU-vid channel. I really like the teaching style - oriented to a goal but explaining the steps needed to get there.
@shanemorgan5932
@shanemorgan5932 Год назад
I will admit it to everyone, watching your RU-vid channel is exceptionally beneficial to my lack of knowledge with post processing. I have a system where i will watch once and then watch again stating and stopping to write down what I feel are going to be helpful. You have made the post processing aspect of photography much more enjoyable and I thank you for that.

Man, Nick glad you have the patience to work so long on a single image, the more I look at it it starts looking more like a painting than a photograph. Personally I like the composition and the angle how you shot the image. Thor's well in Southern Oregon is a well photographed location and many images where taken from a high viewpoint, so this lower viewpoint is very interesting. I hope you can print it and is enjoyed being looked at more often. It is definitely a dreaming kind of a landscape.

This was an excellent tutorial not just concentrating on colour balance but the workflow for seascapes in general… I remember 10 years ago using multiple images from the same set creating a final balanced and dramatic image. Your video is on another level with subtle tweaks which overall can really bring a raw file to life. I must admit I still use Nik Color Efex4 choosing tonal contrast for the important parts of the image. It’s just a matter of preference. Your luminosity masks to add the the dreamy highlights works a treat. Thank you. All the best from Devon, UK

Awesome work Nick!! I have a few seascape-type shots that could benefit from this method. I am finding with wave action, it seems relatively common to get several frames where one part of the image is a lot more compelling than others. Bringing those elements in, in PS would be a game changer. Additionally, I purchased a Wacom tablet after watching what you're capable of with yours, and after Mr. Heaton raved about his. I respect both of you a lot, and really admire both of your works... One question I do have... Do you have any videos (or could you make an updated one) on how you have your tablet set up? I need some help there. I think once I get it set up completely, my workflow would be a LOT better. A couple things I am particularly interested in, is the positioning. Is it relative? Maybe I just need to get used to using the tablet, lol. Thanks again Nick, for all you do!!!

Thanks Nick; this was a very nice teaching tutorial. In the Orton effect section of the video, you mentioned matching the blur radius to the “pixel radius” of the camera. I know how to calculate the pixel size of the camera by dividing the linear pixels, say along the width of the image, by the physical width of the sensor, but how do you calculate the pixel “radius” of the camera?
@NickPage
@NickPage Год назад
It doesn't need to be exact, really it just to personal taste, this image was taken on a Sony A7r iv... which is 62mp... so typically I use a pixel radius of 45-65... Images with my R5 I usually go between 35-55... No exact science here just personal taste. The smaller the pixel radius, the more subtle the effect
