Big D&D meme & sounds like a meme within the office also. Halflings are honestly amazing though. Lucky is an amazing trait. Personally Forest Gnomes are one of my favourite races in general.
Glad to see there will be some story involvement with Gnomes and the music box is a nice touch. Definitely going to be a Deep Gnome just to get max reactivity out of the race haha
Don't simp blindly kid. Always trust but verify first. Baldur's Gate III is so far ahead of every other game ever released, even the almighty RDR2, that no other game will be able to be a 10/10 after its release. All these devs saying "oh please don't compare us against them", are just lazy/incompetent. The only game to eclipse them will be Starfield of course. Since Starfield will be the first 11/10.
Always find it nice he says game director for these over I am the CEO and game director. Every CEO I have to work with never misses a chance to remind you of that title, regardless if it’s relative the topic of the role they did in a project.
Never say never, but I wouldn't count on it as unlike other RPGs, BG3 has a lot of reactions to one's race and introducing new ones would require a lot of additional voice lines.

Played DOS2 a ton. Race mods for that game are notoriously finicky. Larian is pretty good at long term support with DOS2 and I'm hoping they will do the same for BG3. Even if it's just quality of life tweaks, they don't tend to do huge expansions and paid DLC as much.
@davidwilks4123 PS, I'm not a kid. No stranger to games being overhyped and under delivered. I remember Fable's hype train as it was happening and Oblivion's promises of intelligent NPCs with schedules and goals that, in reality, lead to a few random thefts and murders.

@@davidwilks4123 Its definitely a great looking game, but its not really ahead of its time. Its where it should be, which is the best thing for it. Id say that its gonna be great, and even ground breaking, but I dont think that its going to be above any pedestals we have. But I could be wrong too. Ill have to wait and see.
@@davidwilks4123 It's not laziness or incompetence. Not every triple A title can be a RDR2 or a BG3. That's what makes those games stand out from the rest. It is okay for triple A titles to not push the envelope and just be fun, average games. Those games also have a place in the industry.
And just like an actual table top game in multiplayer you're going to get sidelined by the bard player trying to use his special bardic dialogue in every conversation web possible, and you're going to get sidelined when the Rogue inevitably starts a fight with the town guard, and that Druid that just wandered off that you're not going to see for another two hours? That dude is on a vision quest.
I'm super excited for Baldur's Gate III because I have been wishing to play DnD for a couple years now, but never could because I was/am friendless lol
I think the reason Half Elves were picked the most was because of their stats. +2 charisma, which is used for a lot of the classes, and +2 pick another stat so you can build them for specific builds too. Very useful
@Adurnis even humans? Makes sense to make sure all the other races are balanced though, cause when planning out what race should be what class, half elf was like the top choice for 6 classes.
@AstralBelt Hot take: they're all hot. I don't know what it is, but Lae'zel is working it. She's got that "I'm the best you'll ever have" confidence going for her, and I respect that.
I love the Dwarf design. 1. Their posture, standing as tall as they can 2. They are broad as heck 3. Male or Female they all get beards! These are the Dwarves I know and love! Side note: Strength based Dwarven Characters can jump further than they can run :D
Any STR based character can add further move distance with their jump. I can't remember if it's 2.5 or 3 ft of extra jump per modifier of STR but basically with 20 STR and jumping before you use the rest of your movement(including vertical movement) adds 25% move distance total. For this reason alone I say don't use STR as a dump stat for any class, but it also lets you throw that strength based dwarf just a _little bit_ closer to the enemy for his turn. Also you pick up the subclass barrelmancer by default with STR above 14. TLDR: STR best stat in game and I will fight with my superior strength on this.
@@ghosteyes2708She's gonna have a much better experience than me, then. Because I've invested in my first gaming PC for the launch of Dragon Age Inquisition, and...well...😂

As I grow older sometimes i think "ok, thats it. Gaming isnt fun to me anymore. I dont enjoy it anymore like i used to. Games cant catch me anymore, cant draw me into their worlds." And then there are games like this and BOOM i feel like a kid again and my love to videogames is renewed and my enthusiasm restored ❤.
This sums up my feelings exactly. I feel like AAA developers have gotten complacent, and we're used to seeing the same game engines over and over again, and it doesn't capture us anymore. Then a true gem comes along and it's all new again.
Same, I stopped buying games because I play them for 3 hours and get bored, nothing makes me feel like it is worth my time, then I played Baldur's Gate EA for 8 hours straight without even realising, I can't wait

Well technically Lolth & the Draw were essentially banned from Elven culture, so having them as a separate race makes a lot of sense, to me at least, also thank you for making us buff, typical gymbro does appreciate this very much 💪💯🙏
i noticed that they mentioned that for half orcs, but the thing is, dragonborn are powerhouses too(+2str in base rules), so you would hope they would have had buffed out models anyhow.
Man i bet working with these devs would be so fun, i just love how much they enjoy their work. I will continue to buy and support everything Larian Studios makes.
Baldur's Gate 3 is going to be one of those games that sets a standard, similar to what Elden Ring did when it achieved great success. I've been playing the early access version for the past few months, and although I haven't completed the game (only about 25 hours in), it's one of the best games I've played all year. I can't wait for the official launch!

@@somerandomdude7785 You are correct, however for the longest time of the early access for BG3 they were not available as a playable race choice nor were the Gnomes or Dragonborn...they were added late in the testing cycle and many were concerned that they would not be added at all.
@@Assusto CDPR hadn't had their game out for 3 years in playable early access. They threw the game out before it was ready. Larian has done the complete opposite. Now I never go into anything with my eyes closed, but I'll settle for a comfortable squint with BG3
there is, ive played a dwarf before, most if not all races have special social interactions depending on what race they are. Some convos can go in a completely different direction just because of your race.
Apparently there are ALOT of race specific interactions, and there are also items that given you extra bonuses if your a specific race. (So id imagine the D&D staple, dwarven war axe, will make it in the game) They said race is THE most important decision about your character, since you can always change class but not race.

They can't release this game, it's making other AAA studios look bad. Think of the money you're making people realize they wasted on half baked AAA titles!

@@davidwilks4123 Sorry, that last reply of mine was a bit mean (hard not to be when surrounded by all the hate on the internet!). Glad you're excited for all those games, I ain't "blindly simping" anything, not sure what gave you that impression, but BG3 looks to be much more my thing than Starfield (which I doubt I'll ever play, personally). This game is gonna break new ground for the RPG genre, I can feel it. Excited for Larian to finally get their due when BG3 is inevitability in talks for GOTY.
I hope they buff half elf and humans since they got the biggest nerfs. Human martials essentially get no racial features and half elves are literally just elves with half their features now.

Essentially if you've played D&D before you've most likely know how most races are, but of course this is D&D we're talking about so Tiefling is 100 always good guys and humans are dying race because nobody played them.
Yes I am so ready now. Orcs are my favorite race in all of anything and I can finally at least halfway be one! I was so sad for the longest time seeing no Orcs anywhere on the playable races screens
For the humans I hope that there's more they're hiding from us, since all races can choose their stat modifiers once the full game comes out, humans would be the obvious weakest race to choose for all classes.
Oh man Lizzid Peepel would be the best. I guess you can roll a low INT and CHA Dragonborn and pretend it's one. The Gnolls probably not so much, though it would be interesting to have unique Gnoll reactions for the 2 Gnoll events in Act 1.
Please put Humans (and other races) back to PHB specifications. Ditch Civil Militia (it kind of forces all Humans to be soldier-like which from an RP perspective is so far removed from what I want to play on my Wizard for example), and ditch the encumbrance bonus (there is no logical reason why they should have this as it is strength based). Give Humans back the versatility that makes them Human. I heard Larian were fed up of everyone selecting Human pre-release so could be why they nerfed them so badly. For a game that has gone to such great lengths to capture RP elements and be true to D&D - tampering with players choice on how to play the game (by penalising racials) seems really unfair. Yes they may miss a lot of content that Larian have spent a lot of time building in for other races - but that should be player choice - not the choice of the Studio. At least make racials a toggle option so they can go back to playing a more authentic D&D experience with regards to race.
