Just a quick correction, just so there is less confusion about it. Prepared Spells in BG3, at least in EA, can‘t just be swapped out during rests, but anytime outside of combat, so when you know you‘re gonna be talking so Someone you can swap in „Charm Person“ and swap it out for something useful in Combat afterwards.
I've REALLY been enjoying my druid player character. Flexibility is such an important strength in a game that's constantly giving you ability checks and environmental challenges. Being able to scout areas as a cat and squeeze into small spaces is tons of fun. Access to long jumping, flight, a lot of area/control spells really let you manipulate most fights. Spikes can cheese like half of the battles in Act 1.
Prepared spells in BG3 dont need a long rest to swap. You can just do it outside of combat. Essentially, you can use whatever spell you have access to in non combat situations
Have watched this, the sorcerer and warlock video and its been a massive help. I played as a rogue in a Tabletop DnD campaign but have no idea about other classes. Wanted to go spellcaster this time around and i now face a common problem where i love aspects of Druid, Sorcerer and Warlock making this choice so hard. Will be playing with 3 friends so need to have decided over the next few days. Whatever i choose i cannot wait to dive in BG3.
Druid is the class (along with paladin) that I know the least about just from it being not chosen at my table and me not being into them, BUT I have seen some silly melee builds with spore druid in the min max groups I follow and it is tempting to give that a go at some point. Moon is interesting in BG 3, and one that I thing has gotten some of the most changes from it's tabletop version. From somewhere around 2 or 3 to like 5 or 6 are literally unkillable monsters who destroy everything in their path, dropping off hard as a campaign goes on, but from what I've seen in EA they seemed to be smoothed over in the early levels, so I hope that it scales better into late game than it's tabletop version as well.
how does a wild shape focused Druid scale their power as they continue leveling? if their wild shape takes on the stats of their chosen beast form, dont get any AC from your gear, and they can’t cast spells, wouldn’t a level 2 Druid that is wild shaped feel the same as a level 12 Druid?
Not sure how it is in BG3 but in 5e you obtain more powerful forms as you level up (you can't be an Owlbear right at level 1, for example), and your attacks are also buffed (like gaining magical damage for the purposes of ignoring weapon resistances)
Decided I’m going to play a lolth sworn drow druid that’s circle of land with the underdark spells. I’m roleplaying her as a circle of spider druid even though it’s not in the game by only transforming into a spider and I’m also going to take the feat that gives me the find familiar spell so I can have a pet spider too. I cannot wait until next weekend when the ps5 version is out
Circle of spores Druid also can wildshape into bear form. Only the Circle of land Druid has no access to bear form and is also limited by not having combat wild shape (takes a bonus action to transform) and has to use an action to wild shape.
Hey there...got several muticlassing ideas I find interesting because of a highly paradoxal base for my character due to their personal history and conflicts: A dragonborn dark urge but chaotic good, doing everything he can to refute his murderous instincts. So, for instance, with a base of bard, for the "lightness", but also poetry and support to his party, but not without fighting skills (college of valor), but also a love for the balance he lacks, and a love for Nature more than any deities (again, probable personal history and background..) So, a mostly bard with maybe some Druid ( dipping 3 levels?), Monk serms a really bad idea- but I liked it...or maybe rogue, to increase/reinforce some "Jack of All Trades" traits..? Almost all of my ideas are ...not recommended in the meta (but also, usually there's such a focus on tanky/deadly builds, often at the detriment of story telling...), So.. find any of my ideas interesting, or are they all just purely detrimental? Why not a Bard, but also stealthy when necessary, for instance in the form of a cat or a spider, able to spy on enemies for the benefits of the group? Also, seems Darkvision for a dragonborn will be useful...
I just completed the game last night. Land Druid is amazing. My character was a vengeance paladin. I had a fighter doing dual wield, land Druid, light cleric. Second play through gonna play a monk/thief and experiment with everything else.
I'm planning a gnome druid. I really want the sage background but folk hero sounds like it works better with the build. I need to hear play the way you want lol
moon druid is pretty akwardly designed I must admit. none of your ability scores matter. You only get to use the physical stats of your animal form. They do not stack with the ones you have in your humanoid form. And your caster scores do not matter because you cannot cast spells while in animal form. But for example there are a couple concentration spells you could cast so focusing into wisdom and charisma is propably the best you can do as a moon druid. Fun Fact. You can use the raven form to fly on a platform next to an enemy and use thorn whip to pull them down. Tossing them into the deep darkness below you. (really funny in the underdark segment)
Caster scores can still matter for saving throws so there are reasons to have them high. Moon druids also don't just want to stay in wildshape as they do get some really strong spells so unless you have a build for wildshape in particular like multiclassing with barb you aren't always gonna be an animal. The way I look at moon druid is that they are druids with access to some incredible versatility in certain situations, you can get fly when you need it, you can become a strong tank if it's needed and so forth.
@@skurt5525 How does that exactly work? Don't the wildshape scales with lvl or something? I only played a Druid to lvl 2 in early access. I bought BG3 recently so that is also the only char i tested so far :p
@@sagittariusa9012 Wildshapes should not scale as you would be getting stronger forms instead as you level up. Your caster stats always stay the same, if your wisdom is 18 it will also be 18 in any wildshape form but your STR, DEX and CON will become the shape you are using. You should get access to some other wildshape actions in the full game though as the bear should have multiattack for example.
Not to burst any bubbles, but the owlbear wildshape in that trailer was a land druid lol. You could tell because it had natural recovery charges on the UI.
my guess is that arctic makes you able to not slip on ice, maybe even grease. More steady on your feet as a land druid. Mountain might make it cost less movement to move vertically?
i wanna play warlock and/or druid. Warlock being easier for 1st time newbie i guess. Not sure to go Drow or half elf drow druid of spores, or duergar ?! (i'll go warlock with the other race)
Im torn between going full circle of spore druid or adding a few levels of necromancer wizard or a few levels of fighter to get action surge. Im most likely going full spore to unlock top tier spells
My first fully custom party (or maybe Dark Urge, depending on who it actually is) will be a Trickery Cleric of Myrkul party leader, followed his Gloomstalker (Trickery), Necromancer (death), and Spore Druid (decay), acolytes. Baldur's Gate shall rise again.
Level 6 they get primal strike which makes them pretty strong and then at level 10 they can wild shape into an Elemental which is insanely powerful. Moon druids do not fall off
I probably should've said this in the bard class video, but I hope bard gets a subclass called The Dirge, which is basically a bard necromancer. "Music so loud, it wakes the dead!"
Well, the other two Balders gate had expansions that raised the level cap. With how well this game is doing, I can’t imagine they wouldn’t want to put out an expansion or two that did exactly that.
I was reading a article that Mentions Larion Saying that it would be very hard To raise the level cap, because characters become so much more powerful at level thirteen up. I hope they find a way to get it all The Way to 20 some of the High Is level abilities are amazing
Don’t worry they said they’ll release a new one in about five or six years. Mind you they haven’t even started working on it so you might be waiting a while.
