I noticed that I didn't explain the part on infinite status mode too much in depth in the video, so I'll go over it here in a comment: This occurs at 20:39 in the video. By picking up a dead companion in turn based mode, then leaving turn based mode and reviving them in any way, the character will get permanent status effects on their character. This is very useful by making spells that last for X number of turns last forever, including Enhance Leap, Feather Fall, Invisibility, Darkness, etc. However, you have to be very careful with it, because if you get stunned, paralyzed, or other negative status effects, those will also be permanent until you enter turned based mode again to be able to remove them. If you enter turn based mode at any time, the effects will start counting down again like normal. You can do this glitch at any time, as long as you picked up your character in turn based mode and revived them.
I notice in patch 6 that this no longer works but don't see anything about it in the patch notes. Would it be too much to ask to see if I'm just doing it wrong? Don't know what I could be doing that is messing it up though...
Thank you for including the glitchless route as well. I almost always find those routes more fun to play even though the tech behind glitches is interesting in it's own right.
Amazing tutorial, I got so stressed out about completing a legitimate run that I stopped playing altogether. This is really helpful to circumnavigate that stress!
Hey! Something that helped me get through playing is saving a lot! I go back to different saves if the battle doesn’t feel right or if I made an error in dialogue.
You can run a tb monk first level fighter for defense fighting style or cleric tempest aoe spell and sanctuary both gives heavy armor and shield the range attack is returning pike from goblin camp or any throwing weapon. Always keep one party member away from the rest and ungroup them so someone is always alive. Tb at level 5 gives really high hit chance and you can turn your brain off with the damage it gives. Ac is 20 with underdark heavy armour if fighter 21. 16 or 17 ac with starting gear with a shield. The stat spread is 16 wis 15 con rest into dex for 16 dex. Tb at level 5 to get 16 con money is used on potion of giant str for 21 str until long rest. This build has usually 90% hit chance with 2 attacks 10+1d6 damage hits by level 5. With monk level 6 it does 1d6+2xstr mod+wis mod+1d4 damage 3 times. 2 feats are tavern brawler and heavy armor master for -3 damage last 3 level after monk 8 is rogue for thief sub class enjoy 4 attacks a turn doing 1d6 + 2xstr mod+ 1d4+wis mod and heavy armor ac 20+ and ignoring 5 damge from every non magical hit with just adamantine splint armour. No resources if you use flurry of blows its 2×(1d6 +2xstr +wis mod + 1d4) all resources back short rest.
Finally got the Nautiloid jumps down, made a non honor mode character and saving at particular points to keep trying until I get these consistently. Many thanks.
your guides are the only reason i pulled off an honour run, thank you very much for helping me get the trophy and golden dice, seriously all your videos were very helpful although i'm on ps5 so i had to adjust a few things as i couldn't get the throw glitch to work but with a little patients i got the others to work, my finish time was 8hrs and not sure what minutes(at least that's what the save file says
For anyone reading this, there are a few parts where your run could end either because of rng or not doing it correctly. You can savescum (at least it worked for me when i tried it) by using task manager to close out of your game. ALT+F4 still causes your game to complete an exit save. Task Manager essentially crashes your game, so the exit save cant be completed. I dont know if there are risks to corrupt your save, but it worked for me the few times i needed to use it.
I cannot wait to get started on this! I want to hop skip and jump through Faerun, whistling all the way to Baldurs Gate, and yeet Gortash off a bridge! Thank you!
Thank you!!! Also for anyone who wants extra security for doing the silent library in case you need to recast something, if you stand as close as possible to the barrier out front before you enter, you can destroy the portal/barrier with fireball from out side the barrier. It will reach. It will take a few casts, but worth the extra time if you're not trying to go super fast and just trying to not die lol.
Perfect timing, i just tried this yesterday and had a feeling i needed to rebind something for the Nautiloid skip. Gonna reattempt today :D your speedruns are awesome
Omg, thank you so much for making this tutorial! I definitely died a few times at the nautaloid wall jump but did eventually make it through! And I finally get why my shadowboxing was not working. (my initial node had reset after moving a box more than once)
Amazing! I followed the guide and I'm now in act two. Great guide, the only issue I had is that I couldn't replicate the shadowboxing glitch. I don't know which part I did wrong but after a few tries I ended up doing the other route. Edit: I now know what I did wrong after looking up a Shadowboxing tutorial. I was TOO fast at moving the box, moving it before the animation started.
I'm interested in completing Honour Mode, but, after two complete playthroughs (and already beating the game on Tactician, legit) - I would prefer to get the Golden D20 (or maybe even an actual achievement(?)) without another 40 to 70 hours of my life gone.
Thank you for the glitchless. I only think you should SAY what you gonna do before doing and waiting a little, cause i was doing step by step (like seeing what you was doing and doing myself) but i got seeing by the enemies in the mountain pass cause i didnt used fog cloud fast enough. Other than tat, supreme work. Waiting the next 2 parts.
bro u are brilliant, idk if i will be able to do all the honour mode with the glitches and etc, i alr maked the 1 arc but ik that its the easy one, well i hope i can cuz i dont want to pass 200 hours to beat the game in honour mode ahah, and 1 more thing, u should create a discord would be awesome
Thanks a lot ! going throught act1 is quite easy actually . I have already started going through act2 just watching your speedrun, but i am strugling quite a bit just when you are meant to split shadowheart and your main character to end in the prison. can t go past that point, always end up with the main guy staying in the shadowfell, and then when i go back to the map, tp to the road to BG waypoint end in a game over. seems that split up is quite crucial so i can't wait to see your next video . Cheers mate ! PS: i have been consistently reaching that split point below 10 min or so, so i am not too far behind 😉
Just a PSA: If you fail the nautloid skip and land in the middle, simply exit to menu and continue the save that was created. It will automatically tp you on the right location.
Auntie Ethel in act 1 sells an invisibility potion that can be helpful in act 2 during the silent library skip, if you don't mind scrounging around for gold and don't care about major time losses. I haven't tried pickpocketing it, but that may work too.
So I couldn't manage to do the jumpskip like you do in the video. I always got stuck inbetween the walls, no matter how many times I tried.. BUT I was able to do a second wall-jump just like the first to get to the platform. which means I can't jump again to get to the transponder on my first turn, but all I have to do then is end my turn and jump on the next. for anyone who doesn't plan on speedrunning and just wants to use this for the honour mode achievement.. this might help :D
Quick question. For glitches such as infinite leap and feather fall, do they persist if I were to save/quit and load the save? Doing these when the vids come out and was wondering if I need to set it up again when part 2 comes out. Loving the tutorial btw, great explanations all around!
@@ChronosReturnsI swear I did exactly what you did but my character didn't get the infinite status effects. Is there a more in depth explanation of what causes that to happen?
@@SAVAGENEDVED The only thing that needs to happen is your character needs to get picked up while your are in turn based mode. Then when you turn it off and revive them, they should have infinite status. Anything else should not matter.
I feel crazy but I cant get the initial jump in the nautiloid to happen I have no idea what I could be doing wrong as I am starting from the same position and I have path is interrupted message only.
I personally suck at doing glitches in ANY game so ill be waiting for the glitchless version to come out😂 but im still gonna watch these tutorials cause why not😅
I will need to do a lot of testing to see if the Shadowheart Bear Goomba Stomp will work, if it does, the Act 1 route will change to also recruit Lae'zel.
@@fenrisares a goomba is the brown hazelnut looking enemy from super mario. because you kill those by jumping on top of their head, many other video games call killing enemies from midair a goomba stomp :D
You can also download achievement enabler, mod fixer and them " cheat - longbow, cheat ring" to 1 shot everything in the game and be invulnerable, while still getting achievs, but ofc that will take like 3 hours still
The jumps are not patched, they're generally just pretty difficult to perform. There are additional guides on speedrun.com for Nautiloid skip and other difficult jumps as well.
I thought I addressed it in the video, but seems I cut it out, but yes, if you enter turned based mode again, the cooldowns will turn back to normal, which is used in some parts of the run.
did the run glitchless for act 1 and loved it but i wanted to try nautiloid skip. haven't been able to skip fast enough which is wild because im mashing right click and the game doesn't skip as fast as im clicking.
My issue is that it doesn't even start to jump on the first glitch. I've double dashed, found a place where it's only saying "Path is interrupted" and click, but I don't move. Am I doing something wrong? Has something changed? FPS is capped.
It's not just 'clicking' we're spamming both jump and action constantly really quickly. By doing it this way it will buffer the action to execute the jump to make it happen, rather than doing an invalid jump.
when i tried part 1 yesterday, everything went fine. but now when i try to do the node fling, it doesn't turn to nighttime. what am i doing wrong here?
For this, you need to be spamming both jump and action, not just pressing jump once and trying to click the action. For keybinds, I do Z and Shift + Scroll Wheel for the jump and actions respectively.
You should upload part 2 and 3 in quick succession for them to work larian hotfixes stuff daily a well designed guide with bugs can be outdated upon release ı am afraid
I'm not too worried about this, a lot of these bugs / glitches are slightly intended by how the games physics engine works, and these have existed since the game have come out. I believe that as long as they don't impact standard play, they most likely won't get patched out since these are very niche circumstances. I'll try to upload the other parts when I can, but it takes a lot of time to make a video like this, and I don't have too much free time, so I'll be working on them when I can.
What caused the infinite status? Is it because you cast it after you get revived? But that doesn't seem like it. I just assume that it has something to do with the death interaction. Does it also apply to other buffs as well?
It's due to getting your body picked up in turn based mode. This makes it so the game still thinks you're in turn based mode when you get revived, even though you no longer are, which is why if you turn on turned based mode again with infinite status, it gets removed. For other buffs, it does apply, so any turn based effects will become permanent that way as well. This includes both positive and negative effects lasting forever.
I put about 400 hrs in honor mode ive died 2 times to thorm and more then i can count in act 2 i made it to act 3 and fell through an elevator before the raphael fight hopefully i can still get these dice
im not sure if its just me but when I try the initial nautaloid jump even with the 'not enough space' part gone nothing happens. is there anything specific im doing wrong?
Just double checking, it should only say "Path is interrupted". If you're still not getting it with that, the main thing is spamming the jump action, which is done with mouse scroll wheel described beforehand in the video.
I am tryibg on Xbox and don't know it's normalnie or not but when i Save and Quit to main Menu i see Difficulty: Tactician (botton right) When i load game and check difficulty is Honour
Hi, is it possible to do the wall clip on ps5/xbox? I haven't subscribed to anyone in over a year. You're breaking that today. I eagerly await your glitchless tutorial and it's certain to gain a LOT of traction in the console community if made console friendly.
Hi! Thanks a lot, for wall clips, I'm not entirely sure since I don't have a console to test it with. It might be possible but I don't have a console to test it. I'll try to get a glitchless run and tutorial out some time in the future, after I finish this tutorial series. I believe you should be able to doing it maybe with a turbo controller that allows you to spam a button rapidly, or possibly mash a button extremely quickly. Otherwise, I believe there's only one necessary wall clip in the run for Act 2.
just asking but you chose those backgrounds right?... what do you do with the rest of your skill proficiency. i mean you can still pick stuff there but you never went in there?
For backgrounds, I believe I showed them in the video, with the choices being Urchin and Criminal for the stealth boost. For the rest of the skill proficiency, those do not matter as none of them are relevant to this route as we don't go through any of those checks, so it's not necessary.
Hi - in the nautoloid no glitch route, we don't pick up chromatic orb (instead, longstrider) - but then we need fire chromatic orb for the shadowboxing, so if you could help me understand that part of the process, it'd be helpful.
Shadowboxing is a glitch, so if you want to do it, you should be picking Chromatic Orb as one of the spell slots. If you are not doing Nautiloid Skip, you shouldn't be doing Shadowboxing.
@@ChronosReturns Ohh thank you - I thought it was just the glitch to get out...I should have kept watching 😅 This is literally the best BG3 guide I've seen so far, thank you thank you thank you!
my real question with nautiloid skip is that i can't make the cutscene skip at the same rate as i am clicking my mouse. for example i am hearing the clicking sound in game for the right mouse as i try to skip cutscene but it doesn't keep up and skip as fast.
Wouldn't it be worth getting Gale at least recruited (or playing as Gale) so can do the sacrifice at the end to surely speed things up rather than having to do the final fight? I'd read that his sacrifice at the end of Act 3 can count to the Tactician/Honour Mode achievements (unlike his Act 2 sacrifice which doesn't).
Technically you can do a lot of things with this route. I believe that you could technically do the Gale ending for act 3 to count, although I've heard mixed sources on whether or not it counts as a completion, so I guess you can if you want to. Otherwise if you want to have additional safety, recruiting Gale and Lae'zel who appears at mountain pass are always options, just slow since they add extra dialogue.
@@ChronosReturns Nice video anyway, having seen some of the more recent speedruns I did wonder how certain things were achieved. Looking forward to seeing how the Ketheric Thorm strategy works.
Yes, some people have been able to do it on console, there's a few differences though that you might need to figure out but the general route should still work.
So when I relocate shadowheart the box breaks and everything but the character icons on the left only blink away for a second.. And when I long rest shadow heart stays dead so I can't teleport to her. What am I doing wrong? The box broke. I checked her location. She is on the ground in front of the mountain pass area and seems perfect.
That means that the node wasn't correctly set. Even though Shadowheart might be 'at' the mountain pass, that's not quite the location. If you're on top of the mountain for instance above the mountain pass where you can see it, that is too high.
