You would think Bhaal cultists would realize their former boss would easily rip them into shreds if they even gave impression they were trying to fuck with him...
To be fair, if you accept to go up as a dark urge, the clown says the he specifically chose you because you have "killers eyes". Like him. Or maybe it was the blood all over you that gave it away
Maybe it wasn't all the blood but the fact that this Tav was literally the shiniest person around. Grossly incandescent, even, to quote a different game.
I mean his voice was a big factor in me refunding the game haha. Sounds like knives on a plate. The most ear piercing sounds to come out of a speaker I’ve heard. Props to the voice actor, I think he did well but I heard one line on the beach and skipped the rest because it physically pained me to hear it.
@@DEATHBYFLYINGCDS nah it wasn’t just that. Haha. Game wasn’t for me. Good game just not for me. I really hated movement on mouse and board so I switched to controller, then back to mouse and board for the UI. Some big performance issues as well. Might check it out down the line when I’m more in a mental state for a slower paced game.
@@DEATHBYFLYINGCDS To be fair, while the NPC is something that you can avoid having in your party. If you make X choice you'll really only be left with him (and a select few) While I don't personally find his voice annoying, there are a few characters that annoy me anytime they're on screen. It's like watching a TV show, and a main character is super annoying. Astarions voice at least to me is mildly annoying, but fine if I don't talk to him often. Well Written Character, very well voiced acted, and when he says something sarcastic I chuckle, but goodness gravy is it too much sometimes.
what's really funny about this encounter is that if you are a GoO Warlock, you patron directly tells you it doesn't like Dribbles. mind you this is one of the only times in the entire game where you get any information from your warlock ,and it's that Cthulu doesn't like clowns
It's the same with a fiend. Who would have thought the thing that mysterious evils from far reach and monsters from lower planes have in common is a dislike for clowns?
@@ethanduncan1646 Barbarian is pretty amusing for the simple fact you can bypass even needing to roll for dialogue to make people slink away a LOT of the time. Make sure you are half-orc though. It is the combo that allows that to happen.
@@NoyokiYou might think that with the first time he approves, but when you push Astarian on stage he approves again! Wyll has a bit of a mean streak to him.
@@YourLocalCopiumDealer Wyll just likes seeing Astarion uncomfortable. You will ALWAYS get rep with one if you poke fun of the other. ALWAYS. Astarion likes poking at Wyll too
I always love watching these vids where everyone's characters look badass as fuck, and then you have my character who basically has on rags and sandals. Really makes me contemplate where it all went wrong.
Barbarians and Monks are among the few classes who get stronger the **less** clothes they wear. When you need to draw on your full strength, rip off your clothes mid-battle with a Sailor Moon-style transformation! I grant you advantage to Intimidation because nobody wants to fight a buck naked lunatic charging at them with murderous intent.
heh, reminds me of a Pathfinder session where our ranger literally could not hit the guy on the floor directly at his feet. Just miss after miss after miss after miss XD
@@Arkyliereminds me of my 2e session where we had this drug crazed goblin. He was prone, drunk, and we had a party of strictly rangers. We all spent 3 turns shooting arrows at him and after the ninth arrow in a row missed at point blank range our best ranger decided he was going to throw his quiver at him. We rolled to hit and he succeeded. He rolled damage. (1D4 +strength improvised weapon) he rolled a 1. Barely Enough to kill the dying, drug addled goblin. When we realized his strength was 9… so he did 1 minus 1 damage… with the 9 arrows around the goblin and the quiver full of arrows strewn around him we all 3 just sat down next to the gobbo and retired our career as rangers.
@@maikbaumann1250 bruh best character is hands down Shadowheart, then the narrator (yes you hear me right), then Karlach, then Lae'zel, then Astarion. Get your priorities straight!
For a modern equivalent, this is like some guy in the crowd walking around in full tactical gear with an M4 strapped to his back and a clown saying “Hmm what a wonderful volunteer!”
This is just reminding me of how often in Skyrim I'll marvel at how various people don't react to my character in a realistic way. Random thieves trying to strongarm me despite my armor, magic, heavily armored follower, and floating minion made of fire, just as an example. Or the way certain townsfolk react. I'm looking forward to seeing if BG3 has a more immersive vibe to it, since the devs seem to have gone out of their way to account for player choice in so many little details.
@@ArkylieWell there is one thing that actually gets very annoying, very fast and can lead to npc's literally running to their deaths. They react to undead summons and I believe elemental summons and druid wild shapes too, and by react, I mean they shit their pants, shout at them about not belonging here while chasing after them, and quite often, running to their deaths in certain areas. Thankfully, there is a mod that changes it so you can either have them only react verbally (though there is only a small pool of dialogue) or simply not react at all. Aside from that, I believe the only other kinds of interactions are class and race based in dialogue, such as being able to roar at people as a barbarian, giving you advantage on an intimidation check. It's pretty cool, but the first one I described just gets tiring very quickly.
I dont like clowns because of poltergeist with the clown doll trying to eat you movie es it and of course spawn movie the only clown that i would like is homey the clown in living color bit thats about it
I've been experimenting with the power of Withers. He lets you reset the *base class* for any character, including the premade members that in character creation have locked classes. This actually leads to special interactions, such as Karlach having unique dialogue options as a Druid, and having people talk to her confused about her Infernal Engine Tieflingness with the oaths and powers of Druidism. Also everyone has unique lines for when they use Vicious Mockery. I'm certain some characters would have different options in a situation like this based on base class.
But what I don't understand is even if I change the class, I am stuck at lvl 1, it doesn't auto update to the previous level you were at, at least for me. Maybe it's a bug, I am not sure.
@@Topaz542 no that would be Witcher 3. Unfortunately while the map, game mechanics, level design and graphics are spectacular, the story is lackluster and I am not impressed with the content of the game. But the game does have replay value because you can choose different things during different cutscenes and the ending will change.
@SahilP2648 thank but uhhh.. don't speak for me? Tbh I didn't like Witcher 3 and besides I didn't say "the best game in a long time" I said "best game I'VE played in a long time" thankie 👍
MASSIVE jokes on everyone who doesn't appreciate Astarion's voice. His VA, Neil, just got an award for best supporting performer for this part, and it couldn't be more deserved.
I LOVE ASTARION I LOVE HOW HE HAS A FEAR OF CLOWNS HES SO SILLY imagine a vampire that’s killed hundreds and kidnapped just as many and his biggest fear isn’t the sun but clowns
D&D rules for adventurers in town _specifically state_ that you can't throw the first punch. You've got to let the cultist attack you first, and _then_ you get to tear him limb from limb ...in front of an all-ages audience. Actually, it's best to not think too hard about some things. 😅
@@jd2792 There's a lot of "evil" creatures working in the circus, being perfectly civil and professional; a mummy, an ifrit, some redcaps and the leader is a necromancer. The dog doesn't stand out at all in that crowd.
@@Lightice1 Mummies aren't always evil aligned. back in 3.5 a Mummy was the only Undead capable of having class levels in Paladin, because Mummy alignment was Any Lawful.
Hearing Dribbles say, “Praise the Absolute” out of no where on my first playthrough threw me off so hard I had to pick up my jaw from the floor. Such a fun encounter.
I accidently triggered that scene in my playthrough, I was laughing for like 5 minutes straight. The way he says that, with that awkward look afterwards and that Larian made it possible to do this is just pure gold
I'd already examined the clowns beforehand and seen they were doppelgangers, + already had Dribbles's torso and hand on me. Still sent poor Karlach up on the stage cause she was so excited for the Circus :') I don't think she'll be takin me on more Circus dates.
Can’t wait to get to this point. Long story short, hated being Druid. Switched to bard. I found I used charisma a lot and I think I genuinely enjoy bard more. The different class interaction options are funnier than a Druid’s too. I am starting act 2 tomorrow. Hopefully I get to act 3 later this week or the next.
Dude, the rogue/ranger multiclass is so over powered. Deception, perception, lock picking, trap disarming, duel wielding, and animal related rolls have advantage, and like 8 modifiers. I can roll a 4 on a lock picking roll, and get 14 from modifiers adding 10. It's so funny because in the thieves guild in act 1, you can disarm everything and steal from them without anyone even noticing.
Really? But druid is the most fun class imo transforming into animals to scout and survey the area, shapeshifting to an owlbear and dropping yourself on enemies and killing them with your weight, spamming moonbeam to melt every enemies, using spores to make an undead army. Shame you dropped it, to each of their own i suppose.
This game is a masterpiece and I have scarcely anything to complain about but GOD DAMN CAN * O N E * RPG FIX THE TAILS CLIPPING THROUGH CAPE BUG PLEASE ITS 2023
i am so so glad that i took astarion with me all the time in my first playtrough lol. at first my party consisted of me, astarion, schadowheart and wyll. then i switched wyll for lae´zel when i realised how strong she was and after that i switched her out for karlach because i though she was hilarious and equally as strong, if not even stronger... so since the middle of act 2 till the end of the game my party consisted of me. astarion, shadowheart and karlach. now i am in my second playthrough and besides karlach (because i want to romance her instead of shadowheart this time) i am taking two characters with me that i didnt really used that much in gale and wyll and even tho i actually like them both (yes even gale) it just isnt the same without astarion in your party haha
Astarion's great because I can become genuinely emotional over his past traumas while still being entertained by him getting mauled by a dog or annihilated by a sun cannon
@@SonicBoyster If the options of gameplay are 10hrs of extra content or no extra content, there is no reason why you wouldnt pick the prior option. If the other characters were as reactive of their envioroment there wouldnt be an issue, but that isnt the case
@@SonicBoyster No, it has a "I wish I wouldn't be forced to replay the game several times to get some of the content when the rest is pretty much the same. "
This whole video is pure comedy. Astarion's reaction. The random dark urge narration that ultimately goes nowhere. And the delivery of "praise the absolute" really ties everything together
A very strange, likely corrupted blink dog. They are usually lawful good fey puppies that can teleport and are as smart as the average human. They also hate displacer beasts with every fiber of their body and usually attack on sight, which is odd considering just 20 meters from the stage, there is a caged one. And well, lawful good. So definitely corrupted in some way.
I kicked Astarion out on my very first playthrough when he tried to bite me, but I have to admit I do love his sarcasm... I'll make him my best buddy on the next playthrough
Saw a few comments where people were wondering what armour my Tav and companions were wearing. Here it is: Tav: Flawed Helldusk Armour, with no dye. Obtained by giving the extra Infernal Iron to the smith Dammon once you've reasonably progressed Karlach's story. If you've missed this chance, you can get the unflawed Helldusk armour by progressing Raphael's story. Astarion: Spidersilk Armour, with "Red Dye". Obtained from Minthara. Shadowheart: Adamantine Splint Armour, with "Bloody Plum Dye" (although Lavender dye looks great too). Obtained from Grymforge in Act 1. Wyll: good ol' Padded Armour+2, with no dye Also I'm compiling all the Astarion cutscenes/notable dialogue I get in this wacky playlist here, which will be updated as I go along the second playthrough: ru-vid.com/group/PL_pb-Hz17m9787olQp7BmowBMBRLDnZ7A
Ok, but how did you manage to get a stable framerate for this scene? Because my game keeps reverting to a PowerPoint presentation with each step i take in that town.
@@opo33333 idk about that. When I looked into it, I saw some people reporting the same problem with some pretty beefy setups. Rivington and the Lower City have just been Stutter Crazy for me.
@@dmsviola1 I've heard switching to Vulkan and turning shadows to medium helped some people with stability in the city. That said I can't confirm, as I haven't had any issues (other than in the camp), on my admittedly very medium range computer. I think it's just a PC thing. As much as I like PC games, it's kind of annoying how so often it's just a total coin toss on if something will run well on your setup or not.
@@dudeofbro3510 In this case though, Dribbles has been murdered and replaced with a Doppelganger. @@BlackPsionic The difference between a changeling and a doppelganger is that changelings have free will and can choose what kind of person they want to be (as in morally). But doppelgangers can *only* be evil because they cannot be anything else. It's like their "programming", of sorts.
