One thing I love about this game is how willing it is to let you miss things. Kill or don't recruit a companion? You just don't get them. Kill a quest npc? No quest. Being able to miss things really does add replayability. Especially with all of the classes and subclasses!
I got the game when it released, but im still in the 1st area. Not because its a bad game or anything, its obvious the quality on offer here. I just need to get into the mental headspace of wanting to play a turn-based strategy game. I shouldn't be groaning every time I get to the next combat encounter, and try to enjoy the combat itself or change my approach to tackling these instances instead of thinking about the amount of time it takes to complete an encounter. I know I can do it. I had to go through a similar experience when dark souls first came out. I had quit the game for over a year, then came back when I was mentally prepared to tackle that style of gameplay. Now I love souls games and never struggle as much as I did my first time trying them out.
I'm not the biggest fan of turn-based combat, but there really isn't another way to do it. Once you get used to it, it's the best game you'll ever play.
Not sponsored but thank you to @elgato for sending me out a greenscreen and Facecam Pro! Very much appreciated and it's allowing me to really push this channel in the direction ive always wanted it to go in!
It's probably the best game I have played in 15 years or more. Are there games I have put more time into, or enjoyed in short bursts more? Yes....but I have to admit the game is absolutely brilliant. My wife who is a non gamer, sudoku or crossword puzzle type person....even put 100+ hours into this game so far.
And you should play the prequels, Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate (part 2): Siege of Dragonspear, Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn and Baldur's Gate 2 (part 2): Throne of Bhaal.
That's a difficult question for me to answer because I don't know. (Edit): All I do know is if you focus on the main quests, Baldur's Gate 1 is 30 hours long. With the side quests from the original edition and enhanced edition combined you'll spend 91 hours to complete 100% of BG1.
But isn't the game some kind of degenerate, promiscuous, incloosive to the point of being silly, LGBTQ+, woke garbage? I've kind of put it in my ignore list because of well,.. I was looking to play a D&D game. Not **** everyhting with a heartbeat just to advance the plot.
What do you mean? It's a role-playing game that lets you roleplay how you want. So if there is "LGBTQ+ woke garbage," it's because you wanted it in there by your own choices. If you don't want any of that, then don't select that stuff. You wanna be a dragon dude running around with your dong out you can. If you dont want to, you don't have to. That's why it's such a good game.
