Honestly it's him and Shadowheart that have such great reasonings to get with Dark Urge. Shadow for the Amnesia and the Dark Gods control over the both of you and for Astarion it's that urge to do great violence to satisfy the urges while being controlled by their masters.
It kinda sucks that they are all like "Why didn't you tell me??" Astarion is the only companion that acknowledges your Urge and tells you to play your truly vile hand. "Don't deny your true nature" or some such.
Not if you pick certain dialogue options. He will approve of you murdering people 'cause you felt like it, but he's disturbed and eventually tells you to resist it if you act unstable and incapable of controlling yourself. If you tell him things like "I killed Alfira bc she annoyed me" he'll think "oh that makes sense" but he won't have that same attitude if you say anything that implies you don't have control over your own body/mind. I don't think he ever told me to embrace the Urge in my playthough. I was playing as a Resist Durge and I straight up told him I might be going insane, he said something like "yikes, uhh, take care of yourself!" Later I romanced him and he had some surprisingly encouraging things to say. Basically, he doesn't care if you kill people for petty reasons, but is disturbed by you acting insane, or possessed. Probably because he has experience being a meat puppet for Cazador himself. So, it makes total sense for his attitude to be different with a Resist Durge than his attitude towards an Embrace Durge. Because Durge becomes more and more insatiable the more they deny their urges - meaning Astarion will be less on board with you embracing it the more you progress on the resist path.
@@adnaP_esreveR You can still get the "don't deny your true nature" line without embracing the urge. His attitude is like that from the beginning. That's the reaction without context (without actually seeing what Dark Urge looks like) The "uh, do take care of yourself" line comes after he sees that you are actually ill/possessed by something outside of your control. (Lines about looking pained, sick, spasming, and twitching line.)
@@mjf40087 I didn't mean to imply that. I wanted to say that he wants you to embrace it if you make him *believe* that's your nature (telling him you killed Alfira because she annoyed you, or avoiding the "I'm going mad/I'm possessed/I'm cursed" lines), but tells you to resist if you outright *tell him* that you can't control yourself. (Which is what *I* did because I was roleplaying a Resist Durge who was very disturbed by their Urges and wanted to warn people about them ASAP) But a Resist Durge will probably change Astarion's mind at some point especially if he's romanced - the cutscene where Durge tries to kill their lover literally looks like some exorcism shit (except you don't have a priest nearby so you just wait the demon out) so I assume he'd understand quickly that Durge is being forced to do things they may not necessarily want to. I think an Embrace Durge might also be able to get the "concerned" dialogues from him if they never make any effort to look like they "have it together".
This scene feels like it was made for Astarion. He has experience in this, it has the same energy as Yuri guiding Natsuki through her panic attack in ddlc and I love it
about two whole centuries old, and about two whole centuries worth of involuntary mindslave-based torture. That's what has crafted this falsely non-chalant & seemingly tired attitude. We're gazing at an anxiety filled & emotionally taxed-to-the-deep-red man who despite everything, somehow has enough left over to care and love DUrge. If that isn't beauty, I don't know what is.
Oh, I absolutely loved this. Your Dark Urge is gorgeous. I can't play the game on my elderly Mac so I'm living vicariously through everyone else's videos.
You know, it would be funny if you let him drink you to death then when this scene comes around you get the option to quip back that he owes you a death.
i love how this is even more proof of exactly how sweet astarion can truly be. & btw, your mc is hot af, this couple may be just too dang gorgeous hehe
1.Astarian 2.Wyll 3.Kharlach You truly feel how much each character loves and cares for DU. Astarian's is the sweetest and most understanding to me though. and besides Lae'zel these three seem to be the only one's you can come right out and say that you love them when begging not to kill them.
I think this is because he is on a very similar boat. Or was, before he got infected. Not being able to control your body is something he knows very well and really fears. Makes sense that he'd be understanding. Resist Durge X Unascended Astarion was a very heartwarming experience for me. Highly recommended.
What’s hilarious is if you fail a saving through when he has you tied up you try to bite him and he says something like, “no, we don’t bite without permission,”
Yes it's the requirement for this scene. The butler (Sceleritas) tells you that you must kill her, he also says if you do not kill her, then who knows who you will kill instead.
Never got this scene in my durge playthrough😢 something else must have taken priority it really pissed me off bc it says that it happened in my journal. Thanks for posting this
If you pass the checks with the butler does anything change? The one that has a disadvantage if you are romancing the companion and the other deception one?
How do I get this to trigger? I refused to kill isobel and spoke to her about it but nothing yet. (spoilers are fine Ive finished a playthrough with a custom Tav)
I've sped ran to this scene about 11 times now. Have you freed Nightsong? Sometimes it activates before freeing her, sometimes it doesn't. However, for me, 95% of the time I had to free her. After I did I would teleport to Last Light Inn and Isobel speaks to you immediately, once speaking to her you can take your long rest and boom. The scene should pop up.
@@kaynnoir I haven’t freed her in this playthrough yet. The quest marker for Isobel still exists saying kill her, when I talk to her I can “break the truce and kill her” or talk to her the same as any other character. Hopefully freeing Nightsong later triggers it bc I’m not reloading back 5hrs of progress 😭
Im almost done with my first play through... i was planning on romancing gale but after seeing all this murderous durge shit i actually think this will line up perfectly with ascended astaruon ❤️
@@Ginsdarkangel fuck yeeeaaahh. I heard a rumor though, not sure if it's true, but someone said it might make you hurt the dog? I'm not that far into this playthrough yet and hoping it's just a rumor cause I'll be sad as fuck if it's true. (Mine is a Drow and I love it lol)
@lenkagamine1104 What?! No, not the poor Dog :( He's such a good boy. I do things to get Astarion's approval. But hurting a dog I couldn't 😭 I hope it isn't true. But I've become obsessed with Astarion. One of my friends gifted me Baladur's Gate 3 on Steam. So I'm gonna be up all night on my pc, lol. I've been simping for him all day with some friends on Discord.
guys, i got to this scene but instead of astarion the butler showed gale :( i have rejected this man every chance i get, always choosing astarion, is there a way to keep the approval rate with gale to a minimum?
@@ladyalicent705 i just finished my first playthrough with a romanced astarion and good durge (good samaritan paladin). didnt have it in me to be a dick so i waited to pick gale from the portal once i had a established relationship with our pale vamp.
Astarion = Jareth = David Bowie Isn't that funny how they've spelt David Bowie in 3 different ways but they all sound and look the same on each character? I'd be confounded if I weren't a language student. Note: I am a language student of 2 foreign languages (not fluent in them yet)
@DreadGB that might help a bit... all I can process from this question is that they *MIGHT* be trying to say Astarion looks like the character Jareth, who is played by David Bowie. Otherwise... English isn't their first language. That's all I got from that... 😭
@Call-me-Creeds Mostly correct, it's a negative jab at myself being a language student as well. It's more so Astarion's mannerisms reminded me of Jareth. Jareth being played by David Bowie. It can be disagreed in my massive lack of knowledge in: whatever Astarion is truly supposed to be as a character. Also, being a native speaker of English does not mean I am a professor level of writing and speaking English. It would definitely help me in life and in applying to this response of people understanding my joke. Also, I have killed the joke, breaking it apart here. But was it truly a joke if no one understood it? No. It was not. An unfunny tragedy for the 3 of us.
In responding, I only leave myself to be further attacked by disappointment. Not being more entertaining or mutually meme'd on. A situation that I cannot pull myself into feeling anymore than a failure. (Pity seeking, another situation I will fail to recover from) ... Why did I even try to be funny? I just wanted to make others laugh.
Would anyone please tell me when this scene is going to happen? I know you have to spare Isobel (what I did. I told her about it and then left). I have a romance with Wyll, but that scene won't show up.
