Dark Urge tries to kill Astarion (romanced - extra choices) 

I see a lot of people asking me these questions so I'll sum it up: This happens in Act 2. It can happen early or late, it depends on your progress and choices. As the dark urge, your butler will visit you to give you a quest to kill the moonmaiden. After a few days, if you haven't killed her (being unconscious or kidnapped doesn't count as killed), your butler will visit you again to tell you to kill your love interest. My camp outfit is called teal slimfit outfit Astarion's camp outfit is called Comfortable Ashmeadow Outfit

"We ask before we bite" The fucking irony and also character development in that line 😂

"I'd rather be the only dark power inside your body" AYO 😂 that caught me off guard

One of the only characters that fights for you. Truly fights for you. Even when you try to kill him, even if you decide to indulge in mindflayer power and it changes you, even if you try and break up with him to protect him. He still fights for you. Protect this man at all costs.

“You’re cute, you know. In another life, we might have been friends”. I think he’s actually talking to the urge itself here. You had him are already beyond the point of being friends at this point in the relationship. He literally views you and the urge as completely separate people.

meanwhile gale has no idea how long that cursor lingered and how close he came to being the sacrificial lamb 💀

I feel like Astarion is the peak way to play an evil character in a party. He may be down to do bad things but he’s still a great friend.

This is so precious. Astarion has experience with having his body used violently without consent, and his deep concern and want to help you with empathy is really present here.

Probably the most appropriate romance for Dark Urge, brings out the better qualities of Astarion, he supports you when dealing with messed up desires and understands them in a way the others can't

I can't get over the fact that he is constantly flirting with you but refers to yall relationship as "friends"

Nearly all of Astarions lines make me either laugh or cry I can't, I relate too hard to this beautiful, complex, lovable bastard, it physically causes me pain xD

Bruh I think I went through like every dialogue option with Astarion- I literally could not help it he has so many sides and you never know when that one choice is gonna hit you with something HELLA sweet- oooor something incredibly painful. My heart.

"you will let me know next time you need tied up" & "i'd rather be the only dark power inside you" just killed me, i unfortunately picked different options so i didn't get them in my playthrough, but those lines alone are nearly enough to tempt me to reload & do it all over 🤣

this teared up a bit. 2 plays and Astarion just blows me off because I do good things for good people, and have to manipulate the bad people to get anywhere. But he is the only one who can come close to knowing what the dark urge is like, and the way he just takes care of it like it's nothing is just disarmingly wholesome.

its the way i was avoiding durge bc one i didnt see the customization button and two, because i thought i would only be able to do evil options. i honestly feel like the story becomes smt we can attach more ourselves more too by having our character be complex, by NOT giving in to the urges. that first kill as durge that we couldn’t control made me feel so bad tho haha

Remembering the durge first imagined Astarion as a "pretty corpse" when they first met makes 1:34 so much more fucked up. Hearing that exact phrase repeated, but in such desire context, it no longer feels like a shocking intrusive thought; it's an obsession constantly festering in their mind.

I've done 3 playthroughs as of now (just coming to the last couple of fights in 3, thinking of doing D/Urge on the next). My first playthrough was with Astarion. He's actually spoilt me for anyone else. I start new playthroughs thinking OK I'll give someone else a go this time, but when it comes to the point of choice I simply can't. He's just such a well written character and if you go the good route he gets such a brilliant, well written, redemption arc. Even his ascension arc is well written, he's just less himself afterwards. But the game is set up to favour the redemption arc - same way it does for Shadowheart not killing her target. None of the other characters come up to that standard with the closest indeed being Shadowheart as she also starts out being on an neutral evil route (albeit with a kinder take on things). She can come across as gentler and its less obvious but its still there, in Act 1 she has little time for you playing hero or doing nice things for folks and can make some cutting remarks about such behaviour. In my playthrough she didn't kill her target and is supposed to be on the good path, but later in another place she lets 2 people die (I didn't interfere and let her make her own choice entirely on both occasions). So I'm not sure her redemption arc is much better than Astarions when pitch comes to toss, but almost everyone likes Shadowheart and thinks she is a good person. . Astarion isn't gentle except to tav sometimes (and except when he wants something lol), he can be vicious and cutting, but in his case its learned behaviour from 200 years of misery and torture and nearly all of it is a prickly shell of self defence and coping mechanisms. Doesn't matter what he did or didn't do prior to becoming a spawn, whatever it was he has paid full price for it many times over. If he suddenly turned into some angelic creature mid way through Act 3 I'd know for sure I was being played, but he doesn't. He is still the same sarcastic, sardonic and amusing person who is my lover and who can be gentle and astonishingly caring sometimes. Compared to the rest of them being all serious (and slightly boring) most of the time, I really prefer him and he's always in my party. By the end of it all hes still not 'good', but hes trying and sometimes he totally succeeds (Karlach wants to smooch him which tells you all you need to know really rofl), not sure what else you can ask of someone in such a short space of time, after all you've only been with him for a few weeks at the most.

I am really struggling with deciding wether I should or shouldn't play (evil) dark urge on my first play through. It seems like the most fun play through when romancing Astarion but I have also heard that it's best not to play dark urge on the very first play through...

We're playing a COOP session with 4 players and one is Durge whom haven't romanced anyone. We just set free Nightsong and pushed unto Moonrise, when long-resting after a fight our Durge got a cutscene of them waking up and seeing Withers on the other side of the campfire but then the cutscene just abruptly ends after 3 sec and I wonder if that's this is "our" version of that since he didn't romance anyone so Withers is then the logical target if the butler wanted someone else. I just wanted to see if that's plausible or if we just got a bugged scene.

I think one of these lines is cut out now - “Whatever it is that’s controlling you, we can fight it. I know that better than anyone.” I just did this scene and it’s not in there 😢

When I started playing this game, and didn’t know his backstory, I thought Astarion was just an ass. However, as the game progresses and you learn of his past, is just heartbreaking. I think is the best written romance in the game (followed perhaps by Shadowheart’s) . Which is why helping him do that horrible ritual later in the game is the most terrible thing that can be done to him. Here’s a man desperately trying to defeat the darkness that has enslaved him for centuries. Letting him become that same darkness is plain evil.

Are you using a mod to get all the different clothing options? If so, which one?

weird, when I select the option 2 'madness will take me and I'll try to kill you against my will' astarion doesn't say that line at 4:45, but he says that he can now put alfira's death into perspective. the same thing he says when picking option 1.

When he says you could have told him about it, does he says this even when you do tell him? Like from day one, you can tell him about your lost memories, the urges, he can see you talking to withers about your urges, he can see you talk to Ethel about it too, he can see you do the urges and how you react to it etc. does the game acknowledge all that and hes just referencing you trying to kill him in this moment?

Can't relate, as soon as my demon butler told me what had to be done, I murdered the moon maiden. My urge is plenty sated so I never had to be forced to kill my partner. Scelaritus never did any of this for me
