I remember the wild magic Gnome Sorcerer that was geriatric at the start of a campaign that's still running. We chased a boss down his escape tunnel in our second "dungeon" ever, all still level 1 or two. He cast mold earth or some acid spell, rolled on the wild magic table, "cast fireball on self" the DM took a moment to consider because he was standing in the middle of almost the entire party. DM realized only one guy would live and says, "You cast an illusory fireball, and everyone almost has a heart attack"

Played the game by myself as a good playthrough, and with my friend in coop as a... selfish? one. Didn''t really care if our choice was good or bad, if it was useful for us, we went with that. Needless to say, we had about.. 4 team members left at the end because we decided that Shadowheart is less useful than an army of Shar worshippers, so they can take her away, no problem ^^ And yes, I was also a Wild Magic Sorc, which resulted in.. interesting things. Like casting a globe of invulnerability on a boss, so they could not attack us, and we could not attack them. Twice. In a row. So we could easily just focus on the adds for 4 turns ^^

From what I understand is that one of THE builds for Astarion is 3 Rogue/9 Monk. Idk the subclass for Monk, but for Rogue the choice is Thief because in BG3 Thief Rogues get 2 Bonus Actions

Did you know you can cast plainer binding to Rafael? I kept possessing him until he cleared out his minions and then I jumped him.

@@valekstormhowl4999 covering the place in silence also helps. The air mirmidons can create a vortex that deals damage to those that stay inside while also silences them. That, along with the silence spell and giving one of the silencing weapon from act one to Laezel that has been buffed with haste.

Ahh good old wild magic, the source of many shenanigans and TPKs. Had a session recently in an ongoing campaign where we had to team up with an evil wizard to deal with an undead infested ruin that held an artifact both him and the party were after. Got through most of the enemies, were just finishing up and getting ready for the inevitable fight with him that would come after when our sorcerer cast chaos bolt....and summoned a whole ass unicorn which very quickly trampled said wizard to death. Honestly one of the most entertaining subclasses in BG3 too imo, seen some wonderful chaos in my playthroughs

Fun fact, been playing DnD 5e for years. shortest adventure was 3 minutes (playing over discord and roll20). I played a wild magic sorcerer and blew up the party in the first encounter with fireball. We all were still lvl 1-2 and did incinerated instantly without saves because our hp was so low. Best achievement of my career :D. And reason for my ban in the Adventurers league to play wild magic sorcerer. I know technically they can't ban me from playing the class but the DM's would not play with me if I pick it :D. Longest played character I got is a lvl 20 fighter with legendary/wonderous gear and a ton of boons. Played him in hard mode, dead is dead no resurrections. it was fun and he still lives to this day and hates chult. :D

29:15 I say this as a fan of the franchise, but Pokemon is infamous for "the illusion of choice" in their games. what with things like: Character: "Hey [Player Character]! You should go do this thing! [Yes] [No] and then you pick "No" and the conversation devolves into the character going "Aw come on, please?" over and over ad nauseum until you finally hit "Yes" or you'll be talking to the leader of an evil organization and they're like "Mwahaha! Join me child! And we shall conquer the region!" [No Way!] [Sure, Sounds Good!] then when you pick the second option the villain is like "Oh, you think you're funny huh? Well I HATE COMEDIANS! HAVE AT YOU!"

I mean i can stand by its game of the year credentials right like it was probably the best thing that came out in 23 with a few arguments for like exactly 2 other games that doesnt excuse the state of video games in general where larian can just re release the same game theve been making every 4 years since divinity original sin 1 with updated graphics and a legitimate d&d branding over just trying to rip it off and everyone worships it cause you can get intamate with a vampire or a bear

I've learned everything I know about DnD through memes. And if the wisdom of memes has taught me anything, it's that Fireball solves all problems. In fact, it was through this universal truth that I discovered that the game is somehow unbreakable. You can ruthlessly murder every single "critical" NPC, and still progress through the game, albeit not "normally". How the developers built a game around truly complete freedom of choise still blows my mind.
