Raphael:" What could you possibly do to me?" Player:*nukes room* flies in like an owlbear from the top rope, SMITE, SMITE, SMITE *takes breath* SMITE, SMITE, SMITE!
The fact that I've found someone else who has used the phrase "owlbear from the top rope" (mine was in regards to Halsin laying the verbal smackdown on Kagha lmao) makes me so happy.
@@KhangNguyen-ij4xh Person A: *Yeets bomb, it goes off, knocking everyone outside the Tiny Hut flat on their arses* Person B: *Flies out of the Tiny Hut at the right moment to not take any damage, unleashing their Holy Eldritch Wrath on Raphael with all the force of Hulk after downing 55 Monsters* Person C: *Grabs the Mop*
I play as a Druid, so I’M the Owlbear from the top ropes. Fun fact - illithids and vampires are not immune to being frightened by owlbear rage cries. Cazador fight had me in tears laughing when he tried to run away against the invisible barrier of the platform
I DID NOT easily defeat him, took me like 7 tries if not more. Never dumping dex on any character again, not having initiative kills even the strongest characters :C
The funniest Easter egg about this fight is that if you cast silence on Raphael, his solo in the song disappears. Meaning he is canonically singing live as you’re fighting.
Friendly reminder that 1 round equates to roughly 6 seconds in real life, meaning that this guy basically fly to Raphael, drink Pot of Oil and dunk him 6 times all within 6 seconds before Raphael can even react
Raphael, still confident after the runepowder nuke: "♪ No more deals, it's over! ♪" Paladin: "I was thinking the same thing, buddy. SMITE! *...SMITESMITESMITE!!!* " And the song lyrics literally end on his death. *PERFECT* XD
@@patientfirbolg3299 its a bug that larian confirmed to be on the "to fix" list already, so abuse it while you can. If you add Cleric Warpriest you can use warpriest charges, too. for now they just focus on fixing stuff about quests/dialogues etc before they touch combat which has a plethora of issues going for it
@@patientfirbolg3299 It doesn't. Its bugged in bg3 and using it is pretty much an exploit. It even says in the description of the passive, that other sources of extra attack do not stack. PHB 163 the warlock's eldritch invocation Thirsting Blade doesn't give you additional attacks if you also have Extra Attack.
He'll just get sent back, but probably forced to respawn as something lesser. (Honestly he's an incredibly low CR for a Unique Devil, usually they have to be above pitfiends. Who are endgame monsters.
Everyone talking about strategy and builds and stats, but can we take a moment to appreciate how this man TIMED the fight with the music! Explosion at "Down come the claws" and finally killing Raphael at the very end of the last lyric!
Use a scroll of invulnerable dome on the group. Then use the illithid ability that pulls enemies into group. After that have hope use her favor of God and select the damage option. That kills most of the mobs and leaves Ralph for your team to beat.
@@cooller8888 you can buy yourself one of the henchmen, make them lvl 12 cleric, cast divine favor, grab the weapon, dismiss. in fact you can do that with every party member to start dual-wielding the thing on everyone :)
There's actually a better mace called the Deva mace which does 4d8 radiant damage. If you steal the items from that house of the gods (can't remember the name specifically) but its down in the basement, you get cursed. Remove the curses and you fight deva's. Do a long rest and go back to where you killed them and you can pick up their mace.
I had 3 Barbarians, and I fought this a bit early. Honestly it was easier than Gortash, mostly because Barbarians don't really have much holding them back in this fight.
Gortash is easy as fuck with how much throwable (something Barbs are good at) grenades his room shits out. The only thing holding me back was his shield, but I brute forced his ass anyway.
Ahhhh, so that's how to use the dome of invulnerability! Time to use up my stack of hundred flammable, highly explosive barrels in the bag of holding then...
That opening move my Yurgir was the most sensible I have seen him do in my close to 600 hours of playing BG3. Usually he would just attack something then go invisible. But here he actually did something useful.
I didn’t even get a chance to save the sister. Yurgir was before my party in the initiative order and he killed her in one hit. Still, it’s crazy how OP paladins are.
I couldn't save Hope in this battle. Yurgir hit someone and took 20hp from her as collateral, then Raphael nuked someone else (a summon) with his pillar-of-souls-buffed-AoE and took the other 70hp from her.. as a collateral. And I reloaded 3 times. It was specially funny because the rest of my team just waddled through the fight. "Hope is a feeble thing", I thought to myself
you gotta place one party memeber near Korrilla before fight starts and that will change his AI Yugir has insanely high initiative so RNG is not in your favor
Also if you don't mind not getting any Yugir lines, If your Hope survives she can actually banish people without them being able to take saving throws. First time I won against Raph without min maxing I would always pop Yurgir and one Cambodian out of existence and they don't come back btw.
I did something similar to this in my fight, I ended upsomehow still having the runebomb after getting rid of the steel watch in Baldurs Gate. Ended up dropping the magic shield like yourself and just tossed it into the center of the room. It dropped 3 of the soul pillars all at once. Hasted Karlach and my main character and just wrecked him with 2 paladin/fighter combos of 4 smites each. It was glorious.
With all the buffs I had on my guys when I went into this fight, it felt almost a bit too ... easy? I mean.. I did manage to persuade Yurgir by sheer luck (DC 30 is pretty tough, even for my 24 charisma Tav), so that helped. Still... I committed the ultimate n00b-error and cast Hold Monster with the same dude who had cast Globe of Invulnerability the round before - forgetting about concentration and all that. So I had to make do without invulnerability for the rest of the fight. However: Once I had Raph locked down like that it was "just" a matter of unleashing berzerker Karlach on him and have my sorcerer Tav go nuts on him as well. Didn't manage or try to save Korilla (didn't even know that was a thing, but with this game, I'm not surprised you can do it). But ... she had made her bed and clearly stated so before the fight, so I don't think I would've tried even if I had known. All in all, the way from the Archive to the Foyer, trying to avoid/destroy those pesky hellfire-boulders almost felt more challenging than the actual fight did. Perhaps I should've done it earlier and not on level 12.
I could do something similar when I was on my war domain cleric/paladin multiclass, I used celestial haste from that one legendary bow, then started the dialogue, once it was my turn I had that executioner ring to guarantee a crit, popped that with a lv 6 divine smite, then used lv 5 on the crit reaction, and used my bonus action to cast it again in a loop till i ran out of actions
To understand how broken Pal5/War5/Fig2 is, remember that you can cast Disintegrate a total of 7 times in a turn (4 against the same target) just by removing your clothes.... and that still does less total damage than smite on a 5/5/2 build. Balanced game is balanced.
@@BufusTurbo92 Illithid power Freecast is/was broken. It says it resets on long rest but it didn't - it would only reset every time you changed your equipment. Removing items in combat does not cost an action, and your camp clothes provide no benefit in combat.... Time for strip-poker BG3 edition. Freecast removes ALL resource costs including spell slots _and sorcery points._ That means unlimited quick-casts/multi-casts making action and bonus action interchangeable for sorcerers and gives unlimited spellslots. Slap on Haste and start the green beam laser show.
I do consider myself a power player, which means I just take some simple concepts and resources and try to make my best with it. When anybody asks me whats the difference then to a min-maxxer, I'll just show them this video
Damn. I really wanted to save Hope. Then I realized that I'd left the Orphic Hammer at the Elfsong with Laezel. No matter. I don't have anyone that can attack six times in one turn. She'll probably be weeping for us more than the other way round.
I used Hope to get cleric's legendary weapon cuz you can call her god to give her weapon once in a lifetime. Use this and drop the weapon later :D it's really good, provide you with aura buff that heals every turn
@@horizonblack8351 I don't like hirelings, it's cheating to me, they are not immersive and just not suitable for roleplay. I use them only when playing solo tactician, cuz you need those buffs and you can't afford casting them yourself and waste your spells you need in combat.
@@cooller8888I use them in camp. It's perfectly sensible to hire a few expert enchanters. If Withers happens to run a reincarnation temp agency, that works for me.
I know this vid has been out for awhile but I got to share this, if you pickpocket raphael and give him around 66k coins or above and use twist of fortune move, its a one shot KO and created several explosions that lagged my game. this video brought the same laughter
You could save Hopes sister? I need to replay the fight. He was cakewalk for me too. Slow on Gale is all I needed. He cast slow on 7 creatures including Rafael and flew back to the room. All Cambions ( your first priority) have 80-90% chance and Rafael himself had 49. I didn’t even need overpowered spells. Even Tasha’s laughter worked twice on Rafael.
Raphael:"No more deals, it's over! The final ac..." Tav : [chucks mysterious object into the center of the room] Raphael: "What is... what is that supposed to be?" Rune Bomb: "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!" Raphael: [cough] Apologies, it seems I misspoke. Perhaps we could negotiate some sort of agreement?
I feel like I DEFINITELY knocked out her sister during my fight, hoping that they could reconcile and all that fun stuff, but it still said that she died for me. I thought, "Oh well, guess she just dies," but you say she can be saved?? I already beat the game. It's far away at this point. ^^;
“And now, down here come… the… claws?” (It was at this moment that Raphael realized pissing off a roided out Orc Paladin who had previously killed the Avatar of an actual god might have been a lapse in judgement)
When I fought Raphael literally everyone except my party died. Korilla was murdered by the big man when I recruited him and in Rachael's death blossom he fucking murdered the big man and hope. I was just surrounded by corpses and it was such a narratively twisted moment for the House of Hope that I didnt even bother reloading to save her. It was just a bitter fight.
I used runepowder barrel too, but sadly I wasn't able to save Korilla nor Hope... they both perished... I was too lazy to reload and fight again, so... RIP dwarf sisters 💔
There is a bug. Lvl 5 pal gets extra attack per action point. lvl 5 warlock with hexblade subclass gets extra attack. These buffs shouldn't stack, even the game itself says it, but they do, so you get 3 attacks per action point. And vl 2 warrior gives you action surge for one more action point. So, he got 2*3=6 attacks, which is not impressive actually. I managed to pull out 12 in one turn without anything bugged with monk/rogue/warrior
@ewe_e- if I had to guess: 3 rouge subclass thief and at least 2 monk and 2 fighter (one of them at least 5); 2 attacks for class at level 5 4 attacks from fury of blows/thief extra bonus action 2 more attacks with action surge And if hasted 2 extra attacks normal plus extra 2 for the action surge
I'm currently stuck on this fight. Only Gale has the dome spell and always moves last in initiative due to -1 Dex mod. My party is wiped first turn before I can destroy any pillars or set up. I'm playing on Balanced and my party Level 11 Tav Warlock, Shadowheart pure healer, Karlach and of course Gale. I feel like I'm softlocked as I can't make any changes and have no way to get an upper hand. Is there any way I can get past this fight without reloading to before I enter House of Hope?
Tip: Use scrolls. Use black hole if you have. Use slow on the cambions on your first character who get the turn. And run away if your caster has low constitution. Slow at high level can slow up to 7 enemies for 10 turns. My Gale cast it even to slow Rafael and then flew as far as he can. He only then case non-concentration spell and flew the f&*k away. Hope has overpowered banished that will 100% banish one cambion permanently. Else she should cast bless and heal as bonus action. Keep her in back so as to keep her concentration. Your damage dealer should then first destroy the Campions ( they have nasty ‘ drop weapons’ ). And then pillars.
@@dova-oj1kt Thank you for the advice! Unfortunately I dont have black hole or slow in spell or scroll form, I've chosen spells like Shatter that do damage to multiple enemies and spells to keep Gale alive, like Mirror Image, Mage Armour etc. I've kept him as an Evocation wizard. I've thrown myself at the fight over and over with no luck, my setup and RNG were not on my side. I ended up reloading to before I entered House of Hope to get resources and prepare so I'll keep your strategy in mind~ (^^)
Not sure if you are still on this fight or not, if you aren’t then congrats! I’ll still leave some advice for others who are passing by. If you have an Elixir of Vigilance you can have Gale drink it at the start of the House of Hope and it’ll last until you long rest (and I don’t believe you can rest during this dungeon anyways). There’s also, of course, plenty of initiative boosting gear. You could put something with a good passive buff in his ranged weapon slot since a wizard isn’t going to be using it. Other general tips, clear out the minions first with whatever area spells they aren’t immune to (avoid using radiant damage unless you have the globe up because they reflect it back at you), necrotic spells are great for this like Spirit Guardians or crowd control spell like Hypnotic Pattern. The fight is much simpler once it’s just you and him, it lets you focus on single target control spells like Otto’s Irresistible Dance and you are much less luckily to get overwhelmed. Fire resistance is bypassed by some of Raphael’s stuff, but is still very helpful for the minions. Best of luck!
Man, imagine this, but with a dual wielding Paladin. Level 11, with 3 attacks minimum from dual wielding. You'll be smiting everything like a divine blender of death.
5 pact of the blade 5 paladin 2 fighter let's you easily attack 3 times per action + adrenalina rush, same building he's usino in here actually, with a potion of haste for the extra lulz
the paladin one for sure i know and i know it doesnt work in honor mode. its level 5 warlock with pact of the blade. level 5 paladin, and level 2 fighter wyll's build looks like a pure level 12 sorcerer with storm sorcery subclass gale also appears to be a pure level 12, of wizard. hard to tell which subclass but it doesnt matter too much its hard to tell but it looks like karlach is a lvl 3 thief rouge, lvl 9 wildheart barbarian? could be a third multiclass in there instead of level 9 barb. the paladin blade warlock build will not work in honor mode as you will not get the extra attacks to stack but the other 3 should work fine
Why does every end-game build look like it has 100500 attacks per turn when only fighter gets improved extra attack and the rest of the classes are only upposed to have 2, well 3 with haste. What is going on in this game
