Hi all! Today we have another build request from the livestream. This one was an interesting idea, as they asked for a Wild Magic Sorcerer with a nature theme. I was happy to deliver, and am quite happy with the result!

Wild magic is fun in BG3 but Larian removed a lot of the really detrimental wild surges. Like dropping a fireball on yourself, which at early levels is basically a TPK. Honestly I would drop int by two and keep dex at ten and respec when you get the gloves. Ice knife can be cast while silenced because it does not have a verbal component, it's a bit of a hidden mechanic in bg3 since the game doesn't explain spell components anywhere but it is nice that Larian took that into account by contrast you can cast ANY spell while silenced (and cannot be counterspelled) if you have subtle spell.

The Nature’s Snare Staff in Act 1 pairs well with this build, gives you a chance to snare enemies like the Dryad staff dose

Otiluke's Resilient Sphere in the combat footage is truly one of the Wild Magic moments of all time. Once this bloody Sphere activated while I had to kill that Bhaalist Ritual Ghost... Well, at least they couldn't push me into the chasm. With that said, I really like your build and how you spiced up the backstory in particular. It's a pity base game only has 12 levels (hopefully only for now), any of the class considerations could make good use of extra levels. It's also a pity that neither Cleric nor Druid give you any weapon proficiencies on multiclass. Clubs could be nice. Also bugs me how Druids don't get any ranged weapon proficiency at all by default, especially with their low-range cantrips. At least a Shortbow could be nice. But I digress again. Thank you for the video!

The torch suggestion was originally just a mundane torch, the magical one is extra fun! Lol Shillelagh on a normal torch is pretty good for how simple it is.

If you have Gale, build the shadow torch in Balth's quarters and that's a great club option that comes with a free summon minion. Salami is also technically a club so just equip your camp supplies 😆

Don't foget my Jedi/Sith build haha. Looking forward to the next stream! I was thinking, if you take 2 levels of Barbarian on a Gnome with the 23 CON amulet, you have every ability saving throw possible. I'm sure there's a build in there somewhere.

i don't know if sleet storm works exactly like it does in 5e, but in 5e it's one of the best area denial spells in the game. notably, a normal concentration save has a dc of either 10 or half the damage that caused it (so if an attack dealt 21 damage or less the concentration save dc would be 10. if an attack did 22 damage the dc would be 11 and go up from there.) but the sleet storm concentration saving throw is equal to your spell save dc, which at the level you learn it is usually around 15. so for the purpose of breaking concentration, sleet storm effectively deals 30 virtual damage. plus in bg3 if an enemy falls prone, they lose concentration 100% of the time, so if they fail the dex save against the ice that also ends their spell for twice the chances. the difficult terrain slowing down melee characters as well is icing on the cake. and if the spell was a true 1-to-1 replica of 5e, it would also heavily obscure the area which locks out ranged attackers as well. it literally covers every base and i can't sing its praises enough. plus as a druid (or nature cleric in bg3) you can stack it next to or on top of plant growth to really lock an area out (in 5e at least, difficult terrain doesn't stack with difficult terrain but it does stack with non-difficult terrain movement limiters like plant growth so people in both areas get 1/8 of their move speed.)

what an aesthetically fun build! I'm surprised you didn't include archfey warlock for the themes (tbf I'm only a few seconds in xD)

Part of this request was to specifically NOT use Warlock. I'll definitely do an Archfey Warlock/Wild Magic Sorcerer mix in the future

I considered that too (the build in the video was my request), definitely could be a fun idea for another character. For better theming I would take Pact of the Tome and the appropriate Eldritch Invocation. Since Wild Magic is used, might as well get more spells to trigger it more often.

Defenetly dont recommend the wild magic subclass for honor mode. if the effect turns your party into animals for 2 turns...you are doomed. but on tactician. it is hell of fun 🙂

6 levels in Druid would have been better for this build over cleric. Land druid gets Land's Stride which gives you immunity to difficult terrain, you can wildshape into an owlbear or panther in a pinch and you can access more diverse spells. Spirit guardians is good but not really all that fitting to the theme you're going for. You'll still get slowed down by Difficult terrain so giving yourself immunity is pretty good. Land's strider does also make you immune to spike growth.

You could still use druid without using wild shape, if you take Spore Druid. Sure this will have her dabble in what some would call necromancy, but this is still a Feywild Channeler with some extra tankiness.

Awesome build, I am thinking that my next run (almost done with my current dark urge run) is about a wild magic build/team. So my lead will be Sorc/Barb and the other classes will have dips for lots of Wild Magic. Does the Wild Magic chance include scrolls if you dip into the Sorc for wild magic?

I think you need to add the scrolls to your spellbook for them to be counted for Wild Magic. I'd be happy to be proved wrong though.

Hey @HoboZone. I have a concept, wich I think someone migh already have commented, but I digress. It is an interesting take on a spellsword/battlemage build, similar to your elemental gish concept. The idea would be diping 1 level into fighter for two weapon fighting. That way you can add your str/dex or spellcasting modifier (more on that later) on your offhand attacks. Then the rest of levels on a spellcasting class, like wizard, socerer or warlock. Or 8lvls into a spellcaster class and 3 into rogue (thief) for a extra bonus action. In my current playtrhoug, I am running 1 fig, 8 wiz, 3 thief and having a blast with all the utility from wiz spells and ability to cast twice a turn (while hasted) and attacking twice. SPOILERS Also, the game has some really interesting gear wich migh compliment this playstyle. For example, the ring of elemental infusion, strange conduit ring, ring of arcane synergy, among others. The infernal rapier uses the spellcasting AS instead of dex/str. As a blade warlock, you could use any weapon scalling with cha, so duke ravengard sword for +2 to charisma. Off course, picking the feat that lets you dual wield versatile weapons, limitis the build to only one ASI. But I don't think it hinders the build power. To summarize it, I present you with 3 build concepts: A gandalf-esque battlemage, using wizard as the spellcaster class, a staff and the rapier. A warlock using a staff or any mainhand weapon that has some nice passive and a bound offhand weapon, mainly casting eldritch blasts and slicing foes. Or a draconic socerer using helldusk armor and the hat that gives a extra bonus action when you damage someone with a leveled fire spell. Sorry for the long comment, but I was very excited with the build concept and synergies with certain items, that I needed to share. And I really like the way you present your builds!

The thing a usually do with level 5 Sorcerer is to pick spell I know I don't want on one of the previous levels to replace and let me pick one Level 3 spell.

Have you considered a different variant of Barbarian Druid? Ive been trying to craft something around a Barbarian Spore Druid. Getting all the Temp HP from Spore Druid with the damage resistance from Barbarian makes for a great tank. I'm not sure if you've done it already, but it'd be cool to see. A Melee focused version with something like Dual Wielding clubs with one being the strength one was my first thought for all sorts of attacks to take advantage of the extra Necrotic damage from Symbiotic Entity

My only issue with clubs is the D4 damage, but I could see scimitars being a cool choice. I'd also maybe try using Wild Magic Barbarian for extra shenanigans as pretty much of of the Wild Magic stuff Barb gets is beneficial.

⁠@@HoboZoneinstead of scimitars you can still have shillelagh on a quarterstaff and maintain it while raging. Could start with the first staff you can get from Ethel in the grove that ensnares enemies on hit. Dual wielding with a wild magic barbarian is tricky because some of the wild magic options make use of bonus actions and that might mess with move economy. Loved the video btw!

Got a new build challenge/idea for ya. I was trying to think of a build that would work well in a party of four of the exact same build. Of course items will be different between individual characters, but what sort of build has the best, strongest synergy with itself that having four identical builds is the ideal?

That's... interesting. I mean, the most basic thing I could do would be Fighter 2, Open Hand 6, Thief Rogue 4. Tavern Brawler. You get some of the highest melee dps in the game but could also abuse throwing shenanigans. Feels like that would be pretty easy to use. But I also think a party of all Evocation Wizards could be interesting if I'm allowed to have them all use different spells.

@@HoboZone there are certainly plenty of builds that would work, like your Tavern Brawler idea, but there may be better builds that play off of each other more, instead of just having high damage. A bunch of melee focused Evocation wizards would be interesting, since they could just fire off the strongest spells with abandon, but I'm sure there are other interesting interactions that could be devised, too.

Also, I know it was brought up in the build idea stream, and a few times before, on the topic of a Pokémon build, wouldn't it just be 12 levels of Beast Master? You get 6 strong summoned creatures that fight for you and you can only have one out at a time. It's practically a Pokémon trainer already, lol.

Jack of all trades on all 4, it's surprisingly hilariously honest fun and can get crazy with 4 wild magic sorc dips (I usually take Storm Sorc for the bonus action fly though). For RP nerds - the parasite literally scrambled our skull meat...

Hey HoboZone. I came up with a build that I thought might make a good video ( or at least entertain you). The build is a full party one called the dead 4. Hope you like it! Bhall’s chosen- 9 levels into assassin rouge and 3 into gloom stalker ranger. Background- criminal Feats- Sharpshooter and Ability score improvement Giving background on the character- This character would be a stealth character who hides from their enemies and waits till the perfect moment to strike. The main weapon this character would use , would be a dagger and short sword and bow ( duel wield dagger and short sword) The chosen of Myrkul - 10 levels into oath breaker Paladin and two into fighter Background- solider Feats- heavy armor master and sentinel Background on the character- this character has served myrkul for as long as he could walk. This character would give his life for Myrkul and eventually because of his devotion he is blessed by the lord of bones himself. This character would wield a short sword and a shield ( tanky but strong kinda character) The chosen of bane- 6 into knowledge cleric ( because bane is the god of tyranny this character will spread lies through that) and 6 into college of lore bard ( spreading lies through songs) Background- Charlatan Feats- alert and ability score improvement Background on character- through the art of deception this character has worked his way to the top of noble families and is not afraid to use that to his advantage. This character was chosen by Bane for that same reason. This character would use a rapier. The chosen of Jergal- 12 into necromancer wizard Background- sage Feats- mage slayer and Ability score improvement Background on character- this character embodies all aspects of death. Driven by the dark arts this once respectable sage went mad and followed jergal and his necromancer ways. This character has won over jergal as his chosen by spending years learning about jergal. The weapon he would use is a quarter staff Hope you like it! And if you decide to use this for a video you can always change or tweak it. Thank you!

Sadly I lack some of the skills to do so , but maybe if you can ,can help me with it. Ok here is the idea. An unarmed way of the open hand monk, wild magic Barbarian , war priest cleric multiclass. Tell me what you think!

What exactly are you trying to get out of War Cleric? You already get a ton of bonus action attacks with Monk already, Flurry of Blows is already one of the best bonus action attacks in the game. And if you want spells, you can't use them while raging anyway. As for the other stuff, you only need extra attack from one source and I think Monk is the best option. You want Open Hand's level 6 stuff so you might as well get extra attack from there on the way, meaning you only really need 3-4 levels of Barb. None of the Wild Magic stuff beyond level 4 is worth it in my opinion except for the level 10 feature which we obviously won't be getting here. So far that's Barb 4, Monk 6 which leaves 2 levels for Cleric. You could go with War, but I honestly don't think you'll get anything of worth. Tempest or Light would give you cool features that would synergize with the build. Tempest would be my personal choice as you'd get a way to weaponize your reaction.

idk if you know much about dnd and if anyone already said this but spells in 5th edition dnd have requirements to be cast. Verbal, Semantic and Material. so say you didnt have your hands free you would not be able to cast spells who are classed as Semantic or as in iceknifes case, it isnt a verbal spell so you can cast it even if you cant speak like say underwater of in the silence spell. Sorry for mansplaining

I do know about this yes. I was theory-crafting for DND before BG3 came out (just not for YT). War Caster was my nemesis. I just didn't know Ice Knife didn't have a verbal component.

@@HoboZone not sure 🤔 I was thinking about how cool would be to just stay invisible while my zombies fight for me, especially as a duergar since they have the invisible cantrip and you can stay invisible the whole fight, but i don’t know if this is possible.

@@HoboZone I like to play the rogue as solo because I don’t really like to play with companions so I thought having temporary zombies would be better.

@@jose3g20 This is totally possible. But I just don't see how Rogue could help this playstyle. I would go full Necromancy Wizard. You get all the best spells and features for summoning zombies and other creatures. And you could even pick up greater invisibility down the line as well. You could start with rogue for stealth expertise and go for 11 levels of Wizard, but you'd lose a feat and delay all your other features by 1 level. I'd personally stick with just wizard.
