Baldur's Gate 3 - The Mage Slaying Sorcerer (Melee Spellcaster Build) 

How would you break down that build? Like assassin 3/sorcerer 9 ?

Yes, start with dragon (fire) sorcerer, get two weapons fighting feat, use two staffs, hat that give you bonus action and standard accessories for spell attack damage. Multiclass around level 5 to rogue and get assassin subclass. After that go with sorcerer to 12. Use invisibility (spell, potion, duergar) to sneak and suprise enemies.

Something like that yes. Get yourself some early sorc levels for the start, then dip into rogue afterwards (could actually be nice to gain more lightning charges using the boots and bonus action dash from rogue), then just start balsting when possible @@Jabberwokee

Come to think of it. An idea similar this that "should" work. If you have the watersparker boots, sparkswall ring, and gloves of belligerent skies equipped, and the drakethroat glaive buffing your dagger with fire damage, you could use Sleet Storm to create a perpetual loop of mayhem. Sleet Storm every turn drops a massive radius of ice on the ground at the start of your turn, and also causes every enemy to roll a concentration check on their spells. You could do your normal turn of spells (unfortunately not hasted as Sleet Storm is concentration), probably lightning heavy, but locking down/destroying as needed. Your reaction with Sentinel will silence, and do fire damage, which will melt the ice to water. Then at the start of your next turn, watersparker boots will kick in, electrify and stun the entire pool of water, shocking all enemies and giving you 3 lightning charges. Then Sleet Storm will fire, turning it back to ice, to which all of the enemies you have attacked before have 2+ points of reverberation, meaning they are more likely to fall prone on the ice. Rinse and repeat. Add the ring of elemental infusion, and your dagger is also buffed by whatever damage type you did during your turn. Or the snowburst ring for bigger ice patches when you deal cold damage. Hmmm. Now I'm thinking of working out a way to utilise this with the "Trident of the Waves" for a build.

This would allow you to do maybe some fun dips into some multi classes if you wanted, though certainly wouldn’t be required.

Adding again, clerics being able to cast blind is another cool way to support this as well. If you could find a way to fit difficult terrain In as well, you truly could “trap” enemy spell casters in a horrific situation. Perhaps nature cleric instead, for plant growth…
