That cello "scratch" at 0:30 is more epic than any other videogame theme song released this year, it's surreal how Baldur's Gate 3 achieved the highest quality at virtually every aspect, how the hell this is even possible

This song is amazing and I agree with the quality. If you want an eargsm, check out “Away” from FF16 and you might understand why that game slightly edged it’s way to #1 for me (and game awards) over this piece

@@SlowWalkthroughs 100%. The music is absolutely top notch, but so is the background. The way the mysterious gate slowly opens as the adventurers descend into the hellish caverns, completely venturing into the unknown ... the soundtrack also makes me think that they're probably on a mission of utmost importance, and who knows what they'll have to face. It's just so frickin well done, both the soundtrack and scene are downright epic and complement each other perfectly. Like I said, the main menu is frickin GOATed bro. I love this game!

Who else feels like this song is a microcosm of the whole game? With the buildups and releases etc. I feel like Act 1 ends at about 2:43, Act 2 ends about 4:55, and the final battle is 6:58.

Definitely some kind of string instrument. Low, so cello or contrabass. That part reminds me of the theme from the warcraft movie. I also love whenever the melody returns to the "Down by the River"-part. Especially when the orchestra crescendos into those BIG SWELLS. OOOoooo!
