Baler PTO conversion; Converting a 1000 rpm PTO to 540 rpm John Deere 535 baler 

We didn't convert to 1000, we converted from 1000 back to 540. To adapt the driveline we used a 1000/540 adapting coupler.

would it be the same in reverse ? as I have a 1000 tractor but 540 baler?

I think you would have to cut off too much. Of course you could cut in the middle and weld it but why.
