G'day James, Thank you for joining us. We enjoy that part of Bali too. We always find the lads at Nichols great to deal with so i am happy to recommend them as never had a issue and their bikes are always been good to us. Your in a great part of Oz, been to Holbrook a few times passing through, I'm sure that's where the Otway Sub is located but love the old town. We usually stay around that area anywhere from Kartika plaza to legian. A few hotels we seem to enjoy being the 2 of us is Yulia Beach inn,Sol (Kuta beach club), Febris and a few others. You're right about Holbrook being the "submarine town" - the HMAS Otway rests proudly next to our main street. In early March we have a big event called "Festival by the Sub". It's a great sight to have rock bands playing next to a submarine - only in Holbrook!

Officially to ride in Bali, you need a current motorbike licence from your own country and in your country then apply for a international licence which is a book in 10 languages that shows what licences you hold and licence to drive in a foreign country if that country allows you to drive. I'm sure you can rent a bike in Bali if you hold no licence, people will rent you a bike, just be aware if you get pulled over you will be fined and if have a accident, you won't be covered for insurance. If you hold a Indian motorbike licence you can apply for a international licence in India. Saying that , I'm sure plenty of people in Bali will rent you a bike if you don't have a licence. Just understand for Indonesia law and you get pulled over you will be fined and if you have a accident you will not have insurance. Hope this helps.

Hi Micheal, Yes you can what im aware 75% sure off, But you would need to take the public ferry to Nusa Penida not the fast boat as they only take people. (Personally i would leave it on mainland and hire a scooter on penida for your stay but thats upto you.) \ Every 2nd store sells fuel (Meaning could be a clothes shop but have bottles of fuel out front ) They will sell anything in Bali if it makes a dolla, for your scooter or there is service stations around. Distance no issues as you rent per day and pay daily flat rate, i know $5 USD goes along way for fuel as they are cheap to run. Hope this helps

@@BecMattAdventures Thank you for your reply. I will play in the area from Kuta to Canggu for two to three days, and then transfer to Uruwatu. Uruwatu will then go to Nushaduwa, Nushaduwa to Penida, and Penida will stay for two to three days before going to Ubu. Ubu will return to Kuta. These trips will take about ten days. I know that the daily cost of renting a motorcycle is $4 to $5. I would like to ask how much the fuel cost for this trip is. Is my itinerary reasonable? I would like to hear your advice

@MichaelJordan-z5r your trip sounds good. As to cost of fuel. Maybe $20 usd but just a guess, depend on how much you use it. As for trip time and length looks good. Have a great trip.

@MichaelJordan-z5r we only use this company as well when we go to Bali, we have nothing to with them other than rent a bike off them, they have always been good to us. Hope this helps.

We bought ours over there but pretty std run of the mill style paid $15 to $20 AUD, As for better quality not 100% sure sorry, I know theres a couple of shops carry a big range near Legian food court central helmet handicraft - Jl. Sriwijaya, Legian Look them up on google maps, DZAKY HELMET - Jl. Sriwijaya No.22, Legian Kuta helmet - Jalan raya Kuta- Just around cnr from bike shop. As to custom , there's a few custom helmet shops but not sure if they are any good, some bad reviews, So you might have to do more research on that. Sorry we carn't help you on that. No not at all, The requirement is to have a bike licence in your own country and hold a international driver's licence when you hire a bike, saying that alot if people come to Bali and don't have it and still hire a bike, but that's upto them. I'm going to say Yes you need a License to ride a scooter in Bali, Meaning you need a Motorbike License in your own country and then get a International license from your country, Which then allows you to ride a scooter in Bali, To get insurance to ride a scooter you need these requirements to be covered if anything goes wrong. Saying that there are a lot of scooter rentals will rent you a scooter with no license but be warned ( you run the risk of getting pulled up and fined, Worse if you have a accident your not covered for medical and your liable for any damage to the bike and repair to other bike if you hit one even if your not at fault) So that's the reality , Yes you do need a license and Insurance (Recommended but you need to meet those requirements) BUT I'm sure you can just go and hire a bike with NO License but it's at your own risk. Yes in a polite way, We class ourselves Tubby westerners, If your not then you can choose any bike but if your like us then recommend a bigger bike. We see 2 bigger people on a scoopy and its scary and dangerous. Hope this helps. Thanks for feedback.

Been rumours of it but nothing official, like everything in Indonesia alot of talk but very little come to fruition. Too many business would get affected and be too much push back. Official rules are to have a bike licence from your country and a international driver's licence and when riding wear a helmet and be fully clothed. Hope this helps. Thanks for feedback.

I believe it's 50cc, pretty much every hire bike is 110cc + for rent in Bali. Hope it helps.
