My mechanic has a set of tools to remove old ball joints and tie rod ends. It's something like this one. I recently had ball joints and tie rods replaced and that tool made it easier to remove the old one.
In the time it takes you to get the ball joint separator out I've already hit the knuckle with my big hammer, popped out both tie rods and torn half the front end apart 👍
Bought one like this but it won't reach over the tie rod. I ended up using a sawzall on the tie rod bolt to make it shorter but then when reinstalling the thing spun and I couldn't torque it. Is there a better way?
@@toolsforwork the stud on the tie rod couldn't be tightened down all the way because it spun as I turned the nut when I tried reinstalling it. Normally you could put a wrench over the top part of the bolt before I sawed it off to get the tool on it. I think I ended up using pressure from a jack to tighten it or something
Jam a big driver or pry bar in and whack the outside eyelet sideways while levering..it deforms the eyelet taper hole for a fraction of a second and releases taper pin..quick simple no special tools...works 95% of the time
Uhhhh old tie rods dont get resused especially when its cut in half soo why are we worried about the threads and not beating the ever living shit out of it??!
отличный съемник, но гайковертом не пользуюсь, чтоб не срезать резьбу. просто затягиваю ключем рожковым и если не стрельнуло то помогаю съемн ку молотком подбивая по съемнику с той над концом пальца с той стороны где резьбовая часть шаровой/ наконечника упирается в съемник

Easiest way loosen the nut enough to become lose so the nut is a little higher than the joint thread and hit the nut down. Loosen the nut fully and it should pop straight out. No need to waste money on r fancy tools
@@toolsforwork worked in auto repair and heavy collision for decades and always used a mini sledge... When you hit it the metal flexes causing the hole to oblong and spitting the joint out... Most cars have a flat spot to strike...Next time you do one take note of it
in the amount of time you took to get that tool beat it in there and then find sockets and thing to get that out ive done got that side replaced and the other side out. jeesh time is money but doing it right is always a good way to.
Don't yall see where the tire rod end is broken off,he's putting it in da trash,so THRERS NO NEED TO PROTECT DA TREADS,,he's gonna have plenty of treads on da new end rods
If the objetive is to preserve the threads then that a fail hitting it with a hammer works just fine if actually hit it with any measurable amount of force
Tool is a waste of money. Just put the nut back on bolt until the bolt is flush with the top of the nut. This will protect the threads, then hit it with a short small sludge hammer. It should pop out fairly easy take the nut back off and remove tie rod end or ball joint 👍
