Time is running out for Dr. Jon in Botswana. The team makes every effort to maximize his time left before his departure back to the ER in the States. Reality sets in on the dangers of the Okavango Delta, making going to the bathroom an adventure. Namibia looms ahead and the expedition picks up a new guest. So far, the Tacoma, Sequoia, and the Tundra are holding together better than the team’s schedule.

You guys are a great sport. Loved how you embraced my home and seen the hospitality that we all collectively have inherently "UBUNTU". I am also pleased that you are showing Africa as it is, which is different from what the Naysayers portray us as. It broke my heart that a 13-year-old had a notion that Africa is bad and dark but there is a glimmer of hope that he first hand experienced it to change the narrative, however, there are many young ones out there globally who have not had the experience that changes that narrative but such videos do that well. Glad to hear you guys using our colloquial terms like "Braais, Sharp Sharp etc". Totally loved this journey with you guys and next time, just cater a few days more for the Port Process as there is at times unnecessary "Red Tape". But that is what we call "African Time", and after all... TIA(This is Africa) :)

We went (more than once) to the Okavango (Moremi) in the ‘60s. My dad’s first trip was featured in a magazine in SA ~1966. My 1st trip, we (dad, his wife & us 4 kids) drove in a Triumph 2000 station wagon from Jo’burg to Maun. In Maun, we hired a 4cyl SWB Landrover, with a 44gallon drum of petrol in the back & all our gear in teh back and on teh roof rack. Horribly underpowered in the thick sand a mud Next trip my dad had purchased a 1952 4cyl SWB diesel Landrover. Same story, 44 gallon drum of fuel in the back plus all our camping gear and food. Still underpowered. My last trip was ~1973. Was just my dad and myself. Dad had a 6cyl 3L Jeep Gladiator (more power but still no jerry cans). We went up to the Okavango, then on to Chobe up to Kasane on to Victoria Falls and back down to Jo'burg via Wankie. Proper adventure without the mod cons like air compressors, maxtrax, winches, GPS ..........etc etc (and jerry cans). Those were the days of proper adventure, charged by a lioness, chased by hippos while collecting water.......etc. We’d set up camp and 4 kids all under the age of 15 (1st trip) would be free to wander around and do our own thing. It is amazing that nothing serious happened to one of us. We’d have a local guide from Maun (no proper roads then)who carried a rifle & he camped with us. These days it is a hell of a lot easier. I lived in OZ in the early 2000s and had a 200 series Landcruiser (V8 diesel) fully modded for offroad work. We did about 30,000km of travel in it including crossing the Simpson desert pulling a camper trailer (and it rained, for the first time in 15 years, for the whole trip ). Not knocking what you guys do but, it is a lot easier these days & I’ve done it both ways. I just wish we’d had digital cameras and drones back in those days to capture it all.

Really enjoying the series.... However, one point: No cocunut palms to be found in that part of the world.... The palm tree in question was a fan palm, Hypnaena petersiana, that has large nuts as a fruit that are irresistable to elephants. Coconut palms are a tropical coastal and island species never found naturally far inland in places such as the Okavango Delta. In fact in Southern Africa one would have to go to the Mozanmbique and far northern KwaZulu-Natal coastline to find any naturally-occurring coconut palms.... Extra point: the only other species of palm to be found in the Okavango Delta is the wild date palm, Phoenix reclinate, which is also a culinary delicacy for elephants....

Exclusively i am very impresssed at how much work XOverland Expedition has put through this tour of botswana and namibia. I would be very much understanding if that company could establish its subsidary in namibia perhaps buy a concession anywhere in southern africa so it can adapt some of its resources to uplifting Africans who appreciate and have interest to know how to Overland whether white or black . i am not a racial person because life itself is not. Many thanks to Clay Croft and his Family while Comrade Dr John had to fly out to be other places hope see him again. So all is all settle in XOverland welcome to Africa.

As a South African i enjoy watching u guys explore africa and how much appreciation you have for Africa and its wildlife. We can not wait to see your next episode and hope it will encourage more americans to come visit our region.Yes it is tough to travel in Africa but always worthwhile. I am sure after a few months you will be longing to come back and i am sure we will be seeing you sometime shortly, as there is so much more to see. Thanks for a great series of videos and for the good work you guys are doing.
