The team camps near the Skeleton Coast and continues their offroad journey to Windhoek, Namibia.
An ongoing tire issue is rearing its head, and the punishing roads are taking their toll on the trucks, and the team. Fuel, food, and water are quickly depleting.
The search continues in the vast Namibian wilderness for the Lone Men of the Kaokoland, and the team bids farewell to their new friend.

Ya know, I personally would have swapped in a spare and kept the sidewall-plugged-tire in reserve as a spare. I'm interested in your reasoning for risking a failure of the sidewall and being truly down a tire. I'm envious of your adventures! Great series so far!

Funny enough, Namibia overall has best roads in Africa, gravel and asphalt included. Better roads than the UK and few other 'developed' countries. Its just so vast and untouched that these beautiful roads are usually less travelled.

Something fascinating about the desert elephant. Remember the elephant in Botswana were very destructive as they are in many parts of Africa, pushing over trees and peeling the bark off trees. There was no visible damage noticed where you found the desert elephant, they practice conservation, by eating leave and not damaging trees. There is a secret exposed by scientists in the Kruger Park, South Africa. Trees communicate with each other chemically. They found this out by studying kudu, the kudu browsed in the direction of the wind, this caused the wind to carry the chemicals released to blow backwards. If the chemical blew forward, it warned the trees ahead and their leaves turned bitter. Noticed how giraffe will eat from the one tree then move to the next, the leaves turn bitter to preserve the trees. Think of an onion’s chemical defence, it makes you cry for somebody you don’t know. Another common reason for animals moving against the wind, is to smell predators.

Great series. Spectacular landscape. Good to watch you teaching your sons how to prepare fore the future-Until at 29:09 you show Eli without a seatbelt on a gravel road, while discussing the poor state of the road. You are in the vehicle that had a sidewall puncture with multiple plugs in it, increasing risk of tyre failure and roll over risk

That camp at Puros brings back memories.. we where stuck there for 2 days cause we couldn't cross that river due to high rainfall elsewhere and all the rivers were in full flood. After 2 days of waiting, we were able to cross it. Some of our vehicles didn't have enough fuel left to turn around.. plan was not to stay in Puros camp. But what a fantastic camp it was.

Great video! It is an incredible part of Southern Africa. Next time you need to come through and focus only on this area I rate. So much more to see there and experience. Feels like you rushed through it. Interesting factoid about the desert elephants of Namibia. They are also savanna elephants. The elephants in the the bushveld areas will break trees and bushes to get to their food where as the desert elephants will gently remove the leaves without breaking the trees and bushes. This way they prolong their food supply.

I just ran across this in my feed. It was the accent that caught my attention. I'm a 25 year American expat in the UK and I don't hear my accent very often any more. Good job with the kids! I've dragged my boys across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe when they were growing up here. It's helped make them the good men they are now. Namibia is one of my favourite places in the world. My boys are living back in the States now so my wife have time to go overland for a loooong trip. We are shipping our Defender to Capetown in 2026 for a year-long expedition across all the southern African countries. Cheers, y'all!

Great channel and adventures, but man do they over prepare. So much of the content is about that. And you see so many youtubers just going for it in Africa without a care in the world and its more about the travels and less about the anxiety. I go out exploring middle of nowhere Utah in my 34 year old Landcruiser without a care in the world. I have tons of contingencies if something goes wrong, but one of the main reasons for me to go offroad and explore is that sense of adventure and its all good attitude, connect with nature. That's what made this channel interesting years back, the friendships, lightheartedness. Now its more about all the gear and I get that's the business model, but would love to see some more of that again! Just some subjective 1 person feedback.

Great thing with Toyota fuel lights.. they are really and I mean really on the secure side.. I once drove 30 KM with 0 range left and the light on... So there is always some room left xD.. Today I fueled up with 12km left, but fuel wise there was still like 5 liters left.. and if you average 20 km a liter that is 100 KM.. not 12 KM..

I bet your sidewall puncture was caused by a loose stone that got kicked up by your front tyre and because you lost the mudflap earlier it will happen easily. I am from South Africa and got numerous rear tyre sidewall cuts untill i made my own big front mudflaps from truck mudflaps. Can't wait for May when we start our own month long Namibia trip.
