I just bought my first one today. I’m super excited! Thank you so much for this video. It’s been the only one that I have been able to find with the information that I needed.
So I have two of these that I bought from a local big box store. I purchased them becauseI had seen they usually get the fenestrations earlier then some other fenestrated plants. This plant actually will put out baby leaves with fenestrations!! It's a cutest freaking thing I've ever seen in my whole entire life. 🪴🌱❤️💖😊
Yes the young leaves on my baltic blue plants are already fenestrating . May i point out that we can not see any fenestrating on the plant in this video. It might not be. a baltic blue?
I keep this guy outside in the summer in Oklahoma. He stays in a North facing window otherwise. Great fenestrations! It LOVES outside. By outside I mean in a well shaded area, a little morning sun and a little evening sun.
Ah! Thank you fellow okie! 😂 mine is newish to me but for the last few months I just haven’t gotten it’s vibe. I can’t figure out what it wants 😂 I’ll try parking it outdoors
I have one…got her about a few Wes ago..took some cuttings…like as always she’s in my north facing window..doing good so far…put the cuttings with golden pothos cuttings 🤞🏾
Normalize calling epipremnum ‘epipremnum’. Normalize calling plants by their true names. Even ‘pothos’ aren’t pothos! Tanner, I get why you’re doing it. This will reach a wider audience but in doing so, you’re receiving a wider audience to educate! This is important not just for research/care instructions but also buying/selling, and finally- knowing the true name of a plant means you’re not tricked or disappointed by receiving a different plant than you wanted/expected. There are pretty much zero downsides to knowing and using proper taxonomy
Thank you for the thoughtful comment! I wrestle back and forth with this one. To me, it comes down to the joy of the hobby. We have found using proper taxonomy intimidating for the beginner hobbyist just trying to find something to enjoy. This is the main reason we don’t usually use proper taxonomy. I don’t find most hobbyists care to research or sell their plants, and have seen zero effect in someone’s ability to care for a plant due to the name of it. What do you think about that?
@@tannertheplanter4213 I agree and these are valid points. I don’t mean to say that knowing the name equates to better care but there’s already such a huge amount of misinformation regarding plant care online, that knowing exactly what the plant is will provide you easier access to correct information. While in many cases plants that share a common name more or less have similar basic care needs, some times something is happening to your plant that is specific to the variety it is. I realize there’s always at least two sides to everything and that there are no hard and fast rules for keeping plants. But I DO think that the average hobbyist isn’t interested or is intimidated by this information because it’s preciously been intimidating! And unrelatable or condescending even. Social media provides such an amazing opportunity to take the intimidation out and make this type of learning FUN! Teach ‘snobby’ information with a silly dance and music in a reel and suddenly people are learning without realizing it. And, as a hobbyist as well as experienced collector, learning leads to improving your skills and skills in your hobby is kinda parallel to it being more enjoyable and also challenging in new ways because those things that seemed out of reach to you? Tanner the Planter taught me a silly song that showed me even I, a hobbyist, can do this!! This is a sweeping, wild exaggeration but… I think you’ll get what I’m getting at. I love your content as it, just offering a voice of at least part of your demographic 🙂❤️
