The Assan AG61 nose steering gyro aids in keeping your tri-gear model straight during take-offs and landing. If you fly your model on grass, dirt or uneven runways. the AG61 nose steering gyro compensates for any outside factors that causes your model to steer off track of its intended path.
**Do not use this product on tail dragger models i.e models that use a small wheel attached to the rudder for ground steering.**
In this video I will be unpackaging the Assan Ag61, demonstrate the installation and programming as nessesary. This product is available for purchase at Bananahobby.com

To change the gyro's direction, not covered, you need do the rapid left and right rudder stick movement again and hold it to the left. I found that I had to move the stick VERY VERY FAST to get it to take. But the gyro direction will reverse, not the NWS servo direction. It took me several tries to make it work.

@WarrenRC6373 Год назад
I’ll have to do a bench test on that. The manual doesn’t say to do the rapid left and right stick movement the 2nd time to correct the wrong steering direction. It just says to reverse the steering channel on the transmitter. I have my nose steering on a separate channel on all my jets edfs and turbines so I didn’t have this issue during setup.

@@WarrenRC6373 Do it REALLY FAST. I think mine did have that procedure in the pamphlet directions. Maybe I got a newer version?

Hi Warren, I have not bought this yet because I wanted to see how it connects/works. Looks simple enough but I can't tell what's being plugged into where on your video. Can you tell me what servo leads plug into the "Gear Out" & "Turning Servo?" Where do you plug the "Gear In" and "Turning In" into your receiver? I use spektrum receivers so, not sure what 2 locations you are using on your receiver to plug these in to so I can correlate them with my receiver. Thanks.

@WarrenRC6373 Год назад
“Gear in” and “turning in” plugs in to the receiver. “Gear out” and “turning out” plugs in to the gear and steering servo leads.

I have a plane with tricycle gear and no retracts that is hyper sensitive on taxi. How would I bypass the retract functionality to make this work or would that even be necessary if calibration occurs with gear down and they never go up? Does the unit require the retract servos plugs to be plugged in?
@WarrenRC6373
@WarrenRC6373 7 месяцев назад
So I did some testing on my spare AG61. Once calibrated you can just plug in the “Turning In” and “Servo out” leads. Disregard the other two leads for the retracts. As those leads tell the gyro when the gear is down so it can provide power to the steering servo. When the gear is up then it secures power to the steering servo.

I had an issue with a gyro being reversed and not moving in the correct direction. Somebody below stated move the rudder stick left and right very quickly and hold it left it should reverse. But you have to do it really fast.
@WarrenRC6373
@WarrenRC6373 Год назад
You don’t have to move it left and right quickly. Make sure your nose steering is moving to the correct direction before calibrating and set your end pints are at 💯 as the gyro may not detect full travel and won’t enter calibration mode.
@tyesai

@@WarrenRC6373 Well, all I can say is I moved the stick to the left and right very rapidly and it reversed the direction of the gyro which is what I needed for it to operate correctly. I installed it on an older Viper 70 from Horizon that I've been flying for some time.

Can't seam to get mine to engage, only a flashing blue light with no front wheel steering. my question is How many time must I rotate the level left to right to get the solid blue light and should i hold the level to my left until i get a solid blue light?
@WarrenRC6373
@WarrenRC6373 11 месяцев назад
Move the rudder left to right 10 times, hold left then release. Also verify on your transmitter that the end points for the nose steering channel is at 💯 travel for each end before doing the calibration.

Very cool! I realize this is for a nose steering trike, but any reason this would not work with a tail dragger on the rudder to keep the tail aligned during takeoff??
@WarrenRC6373
@WarrenRC6373 8 месяцев назад
The gyros algorithm is not designed for the tail dragger. Also the gyro shuts off when the gear is retracted preventing the steering servo from moving in flight. You maybe able to by pass the retract function to keep the gyro on in flight and have control of the rudder on a tail dragger. However, that’s at the users discretion and all fault will be on the user. I have not tried to use it on a tail dragger cause that’s not what the gyro is designed for so I have no experience with it.
