I WAS THERE, SO HAPPY I CAN WATCH THIS NOW, AND FROM A NEW ANGLE. It was fantastic, electric, the crowd sang every song so loud, glorious. Anyway, thanks for posting.
Thank you SO SO VERY MUCH for sharing!! Sadly living in rural Australia 🇦🇺 I don’t have the budget to travel to seem them …. But this means I can live vicariously ❤❤❤❤ Love the songs new to Live performances. Also fantastic to see Alice performing with her Mum & Keren … always a FAVOURITE ❤️ XX 😘 XX❤
Wow, thank you for recording and uploading this. I am so sad I couldn't go to the shows. I enjoyed "Only your love" and "Last thing on my mind" the most - I don't think I've ever seen them perform these songs live. Love those tracks from what I think was their best era. Of course I would have loved to see them sing Only your love with Jacquie, but well. "Love, Truth and Honesty" was also amazing. Definitely like the hits from the 80ies and then 90ies the most, they were unique.
@@triadafillos1 Yes, and it makes me sad. The Jacquie years were my favourite Bananarama era, I was obsessed with Pop Life, I went crazy with the Only your love and Long Train Running videos - and just wished I'd seen them on the 1989 world tour (but they skipped mainland Europe...).
@@egonhuber4649 the same here. Fir me the pop life album is the best but also the most underrated and overlooked Bananarama LP. For me this album together with the True Confessions and the Bananarama LP has showcased the real talent and the creative force of this group
@@triadafillos1 Totally agree with you. I love "True Confessions" so much. I was only 11 or 12 when it came out, but I remember playing the vinyl over and over again. I even loved "Do not disturb", hehe. And I remember belting out "Ready or not" all the time, what a great track. And yes, I also agree that Siobhan must have been the strongest creative force in the band. Siobhan brought genius, Jacquie brought voice, I think.
@@triadafillos1 I love Jacquie, she has signed things for me and sent lovely letters. i am so glad she is healthy again. i think sara can be a bit of a bitch sometimes
Some comments show disappointment with the vocals, but honestly, this is Bananarama. It's never been about the vocals, their singing skills have always been average. Even when they were a threesome with Siobhan - check out the live performance of Robert de Niro's waiting on the TV programme The tube on YT. Or the interview where they sang an a cappella version of Michael row the boat ashore. Not impressive, but authentic. I think with Bananarama it was always about attitude, a mix of post-punk and DIY and camp that was fascinating and relatable - and of course their catchy pop songs. They stood out in the 80ies and 90ies. I think Keren has retained some of that charisma, but I realise that Sara lacks the energy that she exudes in videos like Venus, Love Truth & Honesty or Love in the first degree. And I miss the camp... bring back the half-naked gay dancers, bring back the silly, but iconic DIY dance moves, bring back the total 80ies and 90ies feeling, girls. 🥰
It was a great setlist and I think they sang quite well - it is more about the fun of the songs and singing along with them, than about singing quality. I will be very happy if I am as fit as they are in my sixties.
I have loved the ladies since the start but its really hard to say anything slighty negative without getting so many hate messages. i had a great time but lets be honest, Siobhan was always the best singer and the amount of prerecorded backing track on most of the songs was too much. i dont know where Keren gets her energy , sara cant keep up. Saying that i wouldnt in my 60s . i feel this is the end . the fun and campness has gone, black miserable album sleeves . i think it will just be festival appearances now on
@@jezzeruk69 Yes, I think you are right. I enjoyed the 2017 reunion tour the most. I travelled all the way from Switzerland to see them with Siobhan in Brighton and London. The gigs were amazing, pure nostalgia, and just generally they are just so much better as a threesome. I then went back to London for the two Masquerade shows, and it just wasn't the same. I guess I will have to stop dreaming about a Pop Life tour with Jacquie.
Fantastic upload!🎉🎉🎉 I was in the very back row at show 1, 3rd April, and a very party pooper usher told me "not to film this entirely" - thanks to where you were, glad you were out of reach of such staff. I know they were just doing their job, but hey, I wasn't intoxicated or rowdy - deal with those patrons first!
Saw it last night and my phone died. Great atmosphere loved how they used Atomic, Lost in music and You spin me round like a record. Great to see Only your love again.
I was there. Never seen such an engaged crowd at the Palladium before, and it was great fun. It was hard to tell what was recorded and what was live though. There were definitely some invisible backing singers and an invisible guitarist.
Very nice !!! Their voices were amazing especially on “ Only Your Love ( the best performance of the night ! ), Preacher Man , I Heard A Rumour “. Atomic not that much . I wish there could have been Siobhan and Jacqui as guest artists to join some of the songs . But amazing 40th celebration! Congratulations Ramas
As much as i love them , i couldnt call that rendition of Only your love "live" It was a nice surprise but heavily prerecorded, sadly they cant perform those songs as a duo . very lipsynced
@@jezzeruk69 It would be nice if there wasn't so much prerecorded, I agree!!! I wold love to see them have maybe 2 live backing vocalists to help out as well. I love these two but I miss the band at a trio, with both Siobhan and with Jacqui.
The cheek of Alice coming on for 3 minutes wearing Jacquie's preacher man mesh top and bra. She probably had to hand back her uniform like when i got sacked from Tesco for falling asleep in the loo for 3 hours
Weds or Thurs? I was there Weds night and though I loved the show I did feel Sara was rather statuesque in that she hardly moved whereas Keren seemed right in to it.
They are undoubtedly GLORIOUS and I could never willingly criticise these icons…. but…. I have to ask where the production values are…? Very disappointing, but cheers for posting… don’t feel quite as bad as I did fot not going.
I am a huge bananarama fan. I have all their studio albums and still play drama and viva and masquerade. But seeing (and hearing) this isn’t a great experience. They just walk up and down the stage. This is not performing haha. Sara’s voice is better than unexpected though . Keep the good stuff up though and thanks for sharing this❤❤
Great footage, well commended but again Sara and Keren do it on a shoestring budget. No brass, lead guitar percussion and no backing singers but they.ve never given a F### if i didnt actually know them, Id say that looks like a Karaoke down the pub. I worked at PWL so i am qualified to make comment.
I often wonder that. I would have imagined they were pretty well off , from writing there songs and steps ets covering there music. and the eclusive tour t shirts were awful and boring
for me these rather poor live vocals are the biggest proof that Siobhan had always been the most creative force in the group, pushing things to perfection. The live tour they did back then in 2017 was vocally so good, I was so happy for them back then, because they proved that they can perfectly deliver on stage. Singing their songs in this bad way is a big pitty
Totally agreee, siobhan was the best singer by far . the amount of miming over prerecorded track on saturday when i went was ridiculous . Harmonies without siobhan, or jacquie just cant be done
I went on the Wednesday thought it was great. The energy in the building was fantastic. I love them as a threesome but this is the line up they want so there you go.
@@MargauxHemingway that's true , but they had Jacqui, she did a great job with them, a successful world tour and one of their best and more creative albums of their career "pop life". And most importantly she fitted with her low voice the vocal harmonies of their songs. They could have kept Jacqui or auditioned for another singer who suited the group
Rather a dull entry from them , would of been better coming out a disco ball or through the floor, you can’t help feel it just isn’t the same without Siobhan Fahey
@@rickyparrilla2426 When she did the 2017 and 2018 Bananarama reunion tour, she wanted to record new music with Keren and Sara. They felt what she came up with wasn’t good enough. Siobhan disagreed. When the tour was over in 2018, she reconciled with Marcella Detroit and revived Shakespear’s Sister, made new music and went on a reunion tour. After that, she’s done very little music related.
@@rickyparrilla2426 I did a big ole RU-vid public playlist called Bananarama Reunion Tour of their concert performances, if you liked seeing the three of them singing together.
Sadly I agree with the last comment of your post. Not on the same wavelength. They look tired and a bit can't be arsed which is a shame as I like the nanars!
@@kevinadams5588 their age has nothing to do with weather they look like they don't want to be there which is the impression I got from the video. They didn't seem in sync either. If singing live they sounded pretty good.
