You say they looked so calm but ironically Miku said right before this (or the song right before this) that she was very nervous. Definitely doesn't come through in the song at all though.
Miku said she put too much glitter on when making up, because she is used to appearing on stage in much darker environments. This room was so well lit that all her glitter was obvious. She mentioned all this in the commentary track to this concert.
I was really hoping you were going to finish that spy metaphor, hehe. Band-Maid be hiding bodies left and right. ;) This entire performance was exquisite.
Funny that you called banana - Akane, the drummer's favourite mid-concert snack! And surprise souvenir from US shows when Akane signed the peel when encouraged to throw it into the audience. Can't make this stuff up.
Dude don't br mad be greatful 💪. I discovered Band-Maid 2 something years ago and went this year to a show on their US tour. The only musician I knew from Japan was a Ska band. Now I learn about a lot of good ones. Regarding the acustic show you should watch the full thing. That base will moist 🤭 your ears.
It's a bit irritating that a little pigeon sings a song that translates to 'nightingale' and actually sounds like one. :) Before this performance, Miku said she was incredibly nervous, and I still don't know why. She's a great singer and has become a very good guitarist as well. In combination with her enthusiasm and willpower, there's not much she can't do. ✨🕊 _____________________ 【 _Till I return to dust I will stand alone in the dark with my pride at the end of time_ 】--- *Nemophila* - '徒花 -Adabana-' 💮
Miku is the hardest working pigeon in show business. Remember that when BAND-MAID was started back in '13, she could not play the guitar at all. And now here we are, she has no Kanami madness to hide behind, and she absolutely NAILS the guitar in this song. While singing a pretty challenging part on top of that. It's tempting to say she doesn't get the respect as a musician that she deserves (easy to think, since her MC antics do draw a lot of attention), but I saw them three times on their just-completed US tour, and everytime she did her showcase song (this or "Rock in Me") the crowd gave her so much love. Love all these women, but I might love our driven little pigeon-po most of all!
Please react "Memories of Wind and Wine" = "Dawn Winery Theme" (Genshin Concert 2022) by BAND-MAID. It's a cover song of the arranged version of Greensleeves, and although it's short, I really like how seriously they are working on their music.
In the commentary track for this, they're all making fun and going, "Jeez, Kobato, got enough glitter on?" and she's like, "I didn't know the lights were gonna make it so sparkly!" Great reaction! I love watching people get speechless or incoherent from watching Band-Maid; it means they really grasp the level of talent they're seeing and hearing. EDIT: Kobato did the re-arrangement for this one. It's pitched a half-step down from the electric version, and the other members allowed her to go to a falsetto on the last high part - apparently she's "forbidden" to do so normally. This has worked out, as she couldn't quite get "that note" the first few times they performed the electric version in online concerts, but on the US tour she was pretty much nailing it, to big cheers from the audiences. They're always pushing themselves and each other! This concert was recorded at an event space in Yokohama, overlooking Tokyo Bay south of Tokyo itself.
Yeah. The commentary version of the whole show is an absolute treat. They are all stirring each other up & giggling like a bunch of school girls. So delightful.
I have to comment early cos i'm taking Kanami to Yomiuri Land amusement park tomorrow. It has 43 attractions but it's impossible to keep Mincho Maid off of the slides.😏
This was my favorite song of the Acoustic Concert. I couldn't help but be proud of Miku, even though at the time I was only a fan of a few months. As everyone has said, she did not start guitar until after they formed, and seeing this performance showed how far she had come, not just in her playing, but her singing too. She performs this song with only the other members of the rhythm section, and without her teacher Kanami to support her, so she is both singing and playing lead guitar. The arrangement was changed up to utilize MISA's to take on more of the melody, as well as the solo. Another cool thing about this song was Akane had to step up and provide main backing vocals! The whole acoustic concert was fantastic, and definitely worth checking out.
You might also look at the Miku side project, "Cluppo." She has 4 MVs up on YT from the Cluppo EP. As with Band-Maid, I like them all, but suggest "With You" and "PEACE&LOVE" two that are quite different in tone from each other. Glad you are back. I was very into anime in the 90s and loved the music from the shows then and bought a lot of CDs of the openings/endings of various shows. Now however it's just Band-Maid for me. They give me everything I want in music somewhere in their catalog.
Great reaction as always. People mention watching the live electric version from one of their online shows. I would actually recommend a fancam from their recent US tour. The sound quality on most of them is good and as a band they are tighter after performing it mtiple times. There are also some really good fancams of their new instrumental From Now On.
They basically stripped down all the songs for this acoustic concert which makes them have a way more relaxed and chill vibe, especially since some of them are slowed down as well. I generally like my music to have some go and agression, but I absolutely love this concert. I also love that their main vocalist (this is a Miku song after all) and lead guitarist are missing in this version and it still sounds amazing. That said, Misa basically plays lead bass in this one. She usually does to some extend, but it's very clear in this version. it was a fantastic Christmas gift when it released and I am so used to the acoustic versions of some of the songs (especially the ones they put on their official channel) that I find the originals sound a bit too quick at first, especially with Catharsis (the other one you did). Someone apparently put the full show on youtube at the moment, but not sure how long it will be there before they take it down. I am still hoping for an official Blu-ray release, but in the meantime I can make due with the rip I made when I watched the stream in December and with the limited CD release they did on their fanclub. Not sure why they feel like this should be a limited experience, but apparently they do.
Others have already said… find the live electric version from one of the online shows they did. Kanami is back in play, and she’s going crazy through the whole song. And Miku has a rhythm solo! This was the highlight of the show for me at the recent show here in Maryland. 😊
Thank you for your comments. I hope you took the opportunity to go to one of their U.S. concerts. Oh, they were fantastic!!!!! Why be mad about not finding them sooner (not Oklahoma, a small joke). Enjoy them now and what they have done in the past - it's fun!!!!!
Sayonakidori, otherwise known as Nightingale, and I think that you can tell why. The lyrics somewhat inspired by Romeo and Juliet - you know, that famous Japanese couple ;) - with a melodic spoken part in English on the album version.
Miku rearranged this track for the acoustic version here. And she was very nervous about it. As she mainly plays rhythm guitar she had to employ MISA to play melody licks on top of her bass lines. Hopefully you will watch the live concert version of this song with the full band.
If you’re amazing now, Jules, wait until you hear how different the studio version of this song is!! There is a live version available from one of their pandemic online virtual concerts floating around. Maybe someone could share the link. Take care and rock on 🤘🏼🔥🎼🎸✌🏼😀
So wild that this is only three of the usual five members. But keeping the rhythm section is a solid basis for any song, especially musicians as versatile as MISA and Akane .
Hi Juled, another little heard acoustic song is puzzle. It is just Saiki and Kanami. It's a hard find, but a true gem. Kanami is singing back-up to Siaki. The song, "I've read" is about an actual event. A female Japanese opera singer was caught having an affair with a conductor. As Japan is a very traditional country the female was condemned and she lost her career. While, the conductor was barely a foot note, even his marriage remained intact.
I agree, Puzzle acoustic is great if you can find it. Puzzle is an other song where the acoustic and the live or record version have a completely different feel because how stripped down the acoustic version is and the emotion that Saiki uses in that version. It's also an other one where each version is worth checking out because of that.
The "electric" version is mad good. Miku should drop the electric down a half step so that she can hit the high at the end with more control. The electric is so spirited fast that she may be out of breath near the end. Btw, I got your illustration. It's like holding your cards close to your chest. Band Maid does that very well, Po!
Yeah, I love the original and it doesn't really bother me in this case since it's only a short note, but they clearly used some form or pitch correction/auto-tune on that one high note on the album. Her vocals sound a little electronic on that one. But she nails it on this acoustic set. That said, she did a great job on the fancams I have watched from the US tour. It wasn't perfect, but it sounded good and that was after half a show + her MC/Omajinai Time shouting. Nothing but respect for her performing this track.
@@MaartenT I think the acoustic is stepped down a bit. No piano or pitch pipe to check. Went to 5 of the shows up front, AS, LA, SD, DFW, Houston, and she nailed it every time (nearly out of breath jumping and all), but not like the acoustic, which was very present (can't goof up there).
@@JK-tz6kk They said in the members commentary (you could watch that during the streaming period of the show) that it was a step or half step down (I can't remember which). Not sure if they also stepped it down for the live shows. I also think the acoustic had multiple takes and basically took a day to record all of it, so it's obviously more produced than a full live show. The acoustic set sounds very produced but in a good way, I love that acoustic live show.
@@JulesTheHuman well fun fact. The band and the fans refer to Akane the drummer as “the gorilla” and on the US tour they just finished. There was a ceremony at every show during one of their break/interaction segments where the crowd all freaked out while Akane basically shotguns a banana and then after much coxing she started signing the peel and flinging it into the crowd lol
Let me suggest the Japanese Pop-rock/Pop-punk band SCANDAL. Since you are an anime fan you may recognize some of their songs as they have had a number of the used in anime. I'll start you off with one such song. Shoujo S which was used for the Anime Series Bleach - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X3BG6CS0PEs.html
