And... I cried...🖤😭 Thanks Ryan, for taking the time to do something special to celebrate MISA's birthday. As a female bassist myself, she is my dearest inspiration to keep learning and playing. To see other people, specially musicians, acknowledging the greatness I see in her, makes me really happy 🤗 Also, this song just gets me right in my feels 💘 Great reaction and adorable drawing. Hope MISA somehow sees it 😉 Rock on, Po! 🕊️ And drink some whiskey in MISA's name! 🥃🤘😎🖤
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISA! Such an emotional tune, who doesn't get teary eyed at least once hearing this. Miku's back-up vocals are top level and Saiki's emotion just pours out. Another true masterpiece.
Happy birthday MISA🙂👋. "About us" is a love letter to the Maidiacs to say how much they miss us for not being able to play in front of live audiences due to Covid lockdowns. We miss them just us much.🥲
Happy Birthday MISA MISA MISA!!! MISA's use of chords is a major aspect of her style and she gets some gorgeous tones from her basses! Probably my favourite contemporary rock bass player and definitely at least in my top 10 ever! Cheers and thanx m8!
"About Us", in the vein of other great mid-tempo Band-Maid songs like Daydreaming, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, Wonderland, Awkward, Start Over, Mirage and Smile, is an amazing song and personal message to their fans - a direction I'm glad to see them add to their journey toward world domination. And we get to hear MISA play the vibe she so enjoys. Their new, beautiful DVD/BD/CD box set (with 100 page picture book) of this incredible concert is unbelievable! Thanks Ryan, for bringing "About Us" to your great viewers!
Misa is playing her own song that happens to fit in with the Band Maid song. You could just listen to her as one long solo if the rest of the band wasn't playing.
That's one thing that never cease to amaze me: as much as she's ornementing the song with tons of beautifull embellishments, she never ever forget the GROOVE. And as she found her ultimate drummer ... Your Misa drawing is one the best I ever saw, really, I totally love that style!
An Epic song Ryan, this is such a Emotionally sung song.. I know this song doesn't need words to show their Feelings for their fans, but you may want to see the lyrics to this song. Band Maid will become an iconic Band of Legendary Status.Happy Birthday to Miss. The Greatest Bass player I've heard in years.
this song showcases how far saiki has come absolutely effortless but full of emotions something about her tone in this one really gets me. and kanami playingi those fascniting littel bends and leads sounding almost like a sitar under the mix. not many people can write a moving ballad band maid do it again!
I have Band Maid Prime and she released a short clip of singing different and playing acoustic. Even though it's slowed down and in a different tone she still sounds great. Day Of The Maid really made me realize her improvement and the Smile acoustic. The band is just super tight and good at what they do.
My love for them was already off the charts before this song came out, but this one really elevated it further for several reasons. It's so disarmingly beautiful and sincere, and when Saiki sings "I will light your life up with my voice", what could sound trite and mawkish from others is instead profoundly moving in the context of what we and they have been dealing with and what this band has meant to so many of us who discovered them in the middle of all this. AND then seeing them just giving this song their absolute all, knowing that instead of their dream show at Budokan (having seen their touching excitement when the show was first announced) they are doing it on a basically empty soundstage...man oh man, it almost always chokes me up. They are just so very special in pretty much every possible way you could want a band to be.
MISA carries this song.... alongside Saiki. Once you realize that MISA is actually playing lead on this song and that Kanami is essentially playing bass lines it all makes sense. And then there's Akane... the heart of the band just dropping a really smooth and awesome beat throughout. It doesn't stand out but it at the same time you know it is right there as well. As far as MISA as a bassist.... GOD TIER BASS TONE brought forth by some of the most SUBLIME playing. She has such a unique and distinct style that is at the same time in your face but not overtaking the whole song. Saiki's at her emotional peak singing this song. You really need to watch it with the subtitles to REALLY get the feel for the song. I was bawling like a baby the first time... just REKT. Such an beautiful song and an amazing performance. And man, I wish I could draw half as good as you... and play multiple instruments... and sing.... keep up the good work! :)
Such a gorgeous song, and a fitting one to pay tribute to MISA on her birthday. Her playing is so melodic. Of course, the other Maids are at the top of their game here, too. Also, great drawing, Ryan. 👍
Misa not only uses the whole neck she also chooses the best method to play-finger, pick, or slap. Of course the patented Misa bounce is always present.
This song reliably brings a tear to my eye. Speaks to me on so many levels. having my wife gone for 7 months for the Air force last year this hits so deep. The emotion and power in this song is not something you can fake they truly love their fans.
this song may actually be the best demonstration of the greatness of Misa and Akane than any of their heavier stuff. Playing with such skill and touch reminds me much more of jazz players than rock/metal ones.
Kanami trusts MISA and Akane to arrange their own parts for songs. I've read in an interview that Kanami rarely changes MISA's part once she submits it. MISA has said she comes up with the bass lines in her head without her guitar, and sometimes it actually ends up being too difficult to play. In a cool interview with Miku and Kanami, on reddit regarding MISA: "- It’s impressive that its bass solo is not heavy slapping but a melodious phrase. Kanami: Our girl writes nice bass lines (laughs). Kobato: Our girl has a good sense, po, right? Kanami: I was like “This part is for a bass solo, so add something nice.” (laughs) - You asked her like that. Kobato: We basically do so these days when it comes to the bass, po. Kanami: I program or play it myself only when I really want something, but basically I just let her write."
Another side of the girls. You just sit down, close your eyes and emotion and colors come flooding in. It's beautiful. Happy birthday again Misa! And thanks Ryan for the tribute. In another 6 days will be Miku's birthday!
As you can plainly hear Miku has a great set of pipes herself. She brought Sai-chan on board because she thought she might not have the "potency" needed to carry the entire vocal load by herself. But that being said she can carry a tune with the best of them. Happy Valentine's Day. Happy 28th birthday to Our Lady of the Bass. Sacramento loves Band-Maid.
@@sacluvsBM Did you read it on her birth certificate? Some fan sites say 1993 other 1992 but there isn’t an official affirmation of her year of birth. MISA isn’t her real name either 🤷🏻♂️ Maybe we’re both wrong
I always enjoy watching your video. You don't just love music, but you can feel the respect of the artist very much from you. I'll introduce my favorite song. I hope you like it too. I hope my poor English will pass on to you. " Turn me on " by BAND-MAID
Happy birthday MISA! 🎂🎉❤️ Beautiful drawing Ryan 👌🏻 MISA became my favorite bass player and thank to her and other amazing japanese bass players, I'm going to start learning bass by the end of the year. And fun fact about my top 5 japanese bass players, all their name starts with "Mi": MISA (BAND-MAID), Michiko Koga (Gacharic Spin, DOLL$BOXX), Misaki Fujiwara (Sokoninaru), MINA (ex-GIRLFRIEND) and Miyu (ASTERISM) 😄 Thanks Ryan
One of the reasons I've been drawn to Japanese rock music over the past two-plus years is how the bass is incorporated into the frame of the song. Too often (IN GENERAL) it's considered nothing but a support instrument in western-based music, meant to do nothing but provide/keep rhythm. While still doing that Japanese bassists like MISA provide so much more which is "music to my ears." Taking nothing away from the vocals in this great song, which are spectacular, you could take the three main instrumentalists to a jazz club, play this and the crowd would be blown away. From MISA's fluid runs, Akane's great snare work and Kanami's fantastic (deep in the mix) lead parts/bends it's just such a master work. Belated birthday wishes to the badass boozin' barefoot bass beauty.
Oh, and great job, per usual, Mr. Mear on both the reaction and the drawing. It must be nice to have real talent in many endeavors. I'm still looking for talent #1. :-)
i swear someone told them you cant make metal heads cry with a song and they just laughed and laughed and laughed.. and said what again? great reaction so another great Band-Maid song and love the drawing or Misa hope she see's it
Cheers Misa! Happy birthday! Love this song so much. As much as I love their usual NASCAR level tempo in their songs would like to hear a few more like this. Thanks for the picture and the video brother!😊😊😊😊😎
Great reaction to a great song with one of the greatest rock bassists around today, a perfect birthday celebration for the ever young MISA. Thanks Ryan and also nice sketch.
Hey, what a great selection. A beautiful song, a beautiful drawing, a beautiful bassist... Thank you. And I agree with you, what an epoch bassist!. Happy birthday MISA! 💕
Such a beautiful song with amazing vocals. Saiki's (and Miku's) tone and range really give this band some unique versatility. Here's wishing the lovely Misa a happy birthday!
Love your reaction. When you smile listening to their music, it puts a smile on my face, too. Now that’s a real reaction video. 👍 love your drawing, too.
Happy Birthday wishes to our amazing barefoot bassassin. They convey genuine heart felt emotion better than anyone around through their music. I can't wait to go see them in person one day.
Yes happy birthday Misa , from your Australian fans, who love all that you do and are! And Ryan, really cute drawing of Misa. She would love it. Her playing in this song is astounding.
I can only agree with your message to MISA. Also my way how I hear this kind of music today has changed a lot thanks to her. There are certainly some great bass players out there, but until today I haven't come across one that stands out and is as important in almost every song as she is. And that in a band where neither she nor anyone else with a huge ego is at the forefront. I'm certainly raising my glass today and toasting to her. Happy Birthday MISA!!! You're an amazing musician and from what I've seen so far also a great person. 🍻 _____________________ 【 Our rock never dies ever. Forever! 】- from BAND-MAID 'Manners' 🕊
This song when it came out its a constant reply for 5 days hehe. Great song and a timely offering from the maid in this pandemic. Yup thats the barefoot assassin. As a bassist myself misa is a new inspiration. Shes a hell of a beautiful monster on that bass.
MISA is a fantastic bass player - please remember that bass is not the only instrument that she plays. Guitar was here first instrument. Then in another band they needed a bass player and she made the switch. That said she reminds me of the Steely Dan AJA album cover.
could be the best bass player on the planet...plays all three styles beautifully...don't know any other that can...MISA is a superstar...sorry flea..she did learn from you..but now at a different level
And again you proof to be a great man, that takes the time learning about a band, a member and give them a great solute on a special day, thanks again man..😀
It is a wonderful song, you would never know how different this is from everything they ever played. I find it is a sad song after you hear about what it was for, the fand left behind.
It’s funny, when your note about listening to that transition popped up I had just listened to that section four times before letting it play through. Haha!
I've said it many times Misa is the sound of Band-Maid, take her away the whole atmosphere would be be gone. Now that the job of any good bass player but she something special.
Ryan! Greetings from a country who is starting to feel the new Corona's latest Omicron-fed wave. Compared to what is happening in other countries, our numbers could be considered as ridiculously low, but the whole country is taking measures. But no lockdown here. This great song by Band Maid is therefore still so much in touch with present problems. But Japan will very probably be the first country to recover and Band Maid will still be able to tour abroad in the second half of 2022! Some people away from Japan will start asking questions why Japan is shouldering this bleedin' pandemic better than almost everybody... This song could be labeled "The World Woes"! By the way, have you noticed that Misa is wearing a ring on her right hand? And once again Kanami is entering into her comfort zone! And when she is not she is always looking at the rest band with a caring eye! Would you believe that although Akane is branded as the prankster/jester of the band, Misa is well known for her dirty jokes that Kanami has a hard time to understand? I am an undying optimist and I am sure we will all meet one day in this beautiful country for an unprecedented blast! And I do not care how ole I will be then! LOL Take good care of yourself (ves)! Best regards, Rober-tGilles
I'm a fan of Japanese band maid. I always enjoy watching it. Thank you for the reaction! Please also react with glim spanky…もし良ければグリムスパンキーのリアクションもよろしくお願いします😅
I'm sure you're just testing us Gary-san but there must be a fifth string as one string is mounted to the machine head on the lower edge of the head stock - just like the real thing! And who could really count the strings across the fretboard at the speed Misa works them!
Great reaction as always, love the drawing as well!! Not sure if you were following the lyrics or not, but if not, it is worth another listen with them on.
