Thanks, guys, for your genuine reaction. Right before the start of the song, Saiki stepped out into a spotlight and spoke (t-shinji, trans.): "We were supposed to meet you today. For the first time in a year, we thought we could meet you all, those of you who could come to see us, but we can’t meet you in the end. I’m sorry. Even though it’s not my fault. We have been having days of turmoil for about a year. In the beginning, we were very surprised because we hadn’t experienced it before, and we had no experience of not being able to meet others in person. We were sad, but we found we shouldn’t be sad in this situation. When I saw you masters and princesses on social media, you were more depressed than us, and we thought that’s terrible. We Band-Maid have been thinking about how to cheer up all of you in the last one year. We truly wanted to meet you at Nippon Budokan, but it’s impossible because of COVID, so let’s wait for the day when we can meet. And in the last one year… or in the COVID pandemic, we have become more eager to cheer you up, and we Band-Maid realized again it’s important to give our songs to you. That’s why we wrote this song for Budokan. We made the album also in the pandemic, so it might have a little similar feel, but this song is planned for Nippon Budokan, and we really want to give it to you masters and princesses now. Budokan is not our goal but just a stepping stone. We will perform at bigger venues, and we promise we will bring you there and give you even better songs, so let’s keep it up a little more. This is our present for you masters and princesses. Please listen to it."

As Wayne has Mentioned "About Us" is a love song to the Maidiacs. Or as Kanami told me later specifically "Me".😏

Kanami was playing both acoustic and electric on this song. You can see Mincho's PRS under the acoustic when she plays the first part of the song.

“About Us” is meant for Maidiacs. To anyone else it’s just a song. You two have earned this one. You deserve this beautiful song because you both are sincere fans. It’s my opinion that the background and meaning of this song has to be understood before hearing it. Even better, if you’ve read Saiki’s intro letter tied to this song. I still get chills whenever I hear it. Every time

About Us is from the band to the fans(trying to cheer the fans up during the pandemic), Unleash is from the fans to the band(what the band went thru and the power they got from the fans)... Ps. Though Saiki is learning a bit of guitar (to help her write) that was the one Kanami played in the opening(she used two guitars in the song)

"About Us", in the vein of other great mid-tempo Band-Maid songs like Daydreaming, Anemone, Endless Story, Memorable, PAGE, Wonderland, Awkward, Start Over, Mirage, At the Drop of a Hat and Smile, is an amazing song and personal message to their fans - a direction I'm glad to see them add to their journey toward world domination. And we get to hear MISA play the vibe she so enjoys. Their beautiful DVD/BD/CD set with 100 page picture book of this incredible concert is unbelievable! Thanks Psi & Bella, for bringing "About Us" to your viewers!

Kanami opened the song with the acoustic guitar. Go back and watch again. Yes, BAND-MAID have the Pigeon Hole and BabyMetal have the Fox Hole. The Rabbit Hole is for everyone else. However, though they are Musician's musicians, some of the reactors, who are also musicians, get so deep into the structure of the song, they forget to just let it wash over them, as a whole, especially drum nerds. They focus so much on Akane's skills that the beauty of the whole is lost on them, at least at first. But the music even gets to the band themselves. That was on of the reasons MISA would hide behind her bangs. Sometimes the emotions of the songs overwhelm her.

A love song to their fans! I've seen them three times, so far, and will see them again in Denver! These ladies are so amazing!

This was my first Band-Maid video. Saiki-san's breath control really impressed me. Fell into the pigeon hole right away. And then the funny part was, I thought bass players really just played finger style. I realized later on that it was rare for MISA-san to play without a pick! lmao

The words that Saiki say just before this song (during the live show) puts the story in perspective and makes it even more special. Great song and very heartfelt. Thanks for the reaction.

Band Maid can truly play anything.

Sometimes I can't absorb it all too and have to just let it wash over me. Their music isn't bits and pieces. It is an integrated whole. This song continually reminds us that _these_ are the "good old days." Yesterday is past, it's fun to remember. Tomorrow is yet to come, it's fun to anticipate. But today, this very moment, is all there is. We've been waiting for it, and we'll remember it. Today is the good old days.

This band knows how to deliver a sonic assault that leaves you craving more.

I think they gotcha on that one Psi - I'm sure it won't be the last time either. The song started with Kanami on the acoustic, just a point of interest Saiki started learning both guitar and piano about 2 years ago which is almost certainly the reason that we never see her with her beloved fancy nails anymore.

Like every other BM song, as you say, it’s hard to take all the wonderful things going on all at once. For this song, though, I think we can all agree that it’s the beautiful message, stated so artfully in the lyrics, that takes center stage! You can see the emotion on their faces too…

Oh! When you watch the video again, you'll see Kanami-san play the acoustic in the beginning. And I believe Saiki-san has been learning guitar and piano. She's not pro level yet but there are a couple of Band-Maid PRIME uploads where she plays those instruments while singing.
