In the near future, people will realize that the genre for BAND MAID.......is BAND MAID🤘😄🤘

Great Reaction!! I like your observation about their solos keeping continuity with the song. You will find that to be true with every BAND-MAID song. They never break continuity and always stay within the song they're playing. Everyone gets a "spotlight" to shine, but they remember that the music is the "star".

MISA's bass is not an SG, but a Black Cloud Private Reserve MISA made just for her.(notice the PR on the head stock and MISA on the reverse.) She still plays her Black Cloud Black Smoker too.

Since no one else has pointed this out, this song was from the early albums where other people wrote songs (the music) for them. Generally, Miku writes the lyrics for most of their tunes except some of the very early ones. Their genre is all over the place, but they always gravitate back to hard rock, so I think that's the safest description if you need one. They definitely have metal, pop-PUNK (not really pop-rock), and even jazz influences. The two BAND-MAIKO videos are visually striking and the songs are awesome because of the added on traditional Japanese instruments. In my opinion, Kanami is one of the best songwriters of this generation, along with Tuomas Holopainen. They both are extremely creative musical writers while also being wonderful song architects, with structural choices elevating their songs above their peers. And then they hand their creations off to some of the greatest performers active today. So, suggestions. I think Mr. Burns would dig the look and sound of BAND-MAIKO - Secret MAIKO Lips. It's got several influences to enjoy.

The show took place on Feb 14th, 2020 just before the covid crisis hit in Japan.....the chorus is kind of poppy/rock sounding... Band-Maiko (alter ego soul of Band-Maid)....check out Secret my Lips (band-Maid) and secret Maiko Lips (Band Maiko) two version of the same song.....two different sounds and two different dialects of Japanese too.....oh and two completely different looks too.....enjoy...

I think the fact that you can't really categorize Band-Maid or compare them to other bands is one of the biggest compliments you can give these ladies. With their versatility they have created their very own style in the big wide world of rock. Genre boundaries are not an obstacle for them, rather a welcome addition to give their songs something 'unusual'. And it's true that many of their songs convey a positive feeling, but some lyrics are really hard, provocative and profound and thus, like their whole appearance, are in total contrast to the musical side.

What really grabs me is there’s some blues in their music .

You will find every style of rock in their songwriting, not only in their different songs, you can find it blended in every song. You will find funk, jazz, hard, punk, pop or metal. I just love how they seem to be so happy in themselves, its clear they enjoy being on stage, enjoy playing their music, enjoy playing together and enjoy playing for the audience - I feel good just watching them never mind really enjoying their music. I also like how Miku and Kanami can be seen cheering Kanami on with fist pumps to the air and enjoying the solo as much as the audience and clearly being happy for their band mate - and no doubt Saiki and Misa are doing the same. I have noticed this mutual respect they have for one another on other concert videos where if a member of the band does an impromptu or planned solo, or sings - you can see the others are as wrapped as the audience. Freedom itself appears to be a staple at their concerts, maybe because its a fun song and lends itself to change and adaption. There is a video of Freedom from 2018 somewhere that does not have a drum solo but has Miku going all impromptu rock chick, throwing her guitar over her shoulder to sing backing vocals with microphone in hand much to the amusement of Saiki and Kanami - and then finding herself having to sing the lead vocals as Saiki wondered too close to the 'princesses' section of the audience and found herself temporarily 'kidnapped'. However in the version just played I like how Misa, Miku and Kanami kind of escort Akane out of the Solo by facing her before turning to the audience, they are not only band mates but friends. I don't see any animosity between Baby Metal and Band Maid fans, more friendly rivalry as there is a definite crossover with fans liking both but each having a favorite.

Because Miku insisted on "My Way! My Way! My Way!," we now have the greatest live band on the planet.

Only person smiling more than Akane during her solo is ME. BAND-MAID livestream starts in 10h 53m or 11pm PST.

For me, it's about dat bass! I love the bass player in this band. They are all stellar musicians but, but, but...DAT BASS!!! They would be a fun band to see live for sure. Akane actually adopts beat changes very, very often. Drum solo in freedom has the wow effect for the sake of being the drum solo and the speed of it, but there are many songs with more unique drumming. Songs popular amongst metal fans are 'blooming', 'different', 'black hole', 'afterlife', 'warning', 'h-g-k', 'giovanni', etc. Their new album "unseen world" seems to appeal to many metal fans and prog fans. All songs are digitally available so you could do the audio only reactions if you're interested. Onset is also a great song to show off their prog side and Akane's drumming.

Yes, they play in drop-D# or drop-D. Kanami also uses a pedal called "Digitech Drop Pedal" for their songs.

Band Maid is hard rock but they also have a somewhat pop-punk sound. And imo their rhythm section often goes rather R&B. They just released a new song on Dec 1 which is on the harder side. Check out "Different" from their channel.

Even though the shape of Misa's bass is reminiscent of an SG, it is in fact made by Black Cloud and is from their Private Reserve line. These ladies are good friends off stage and so comfortable with each other that they often try to prank each other by making face's or when Kanami moved over to Miku before her vocal to throw her off or when, in another song the three of them gathered in front of Akane and were making faces to try to get her to break rhythm....as if! These ladies really enjoy what they do and it translates into their music and from there to us.

Band-Maid is hard rock but with metal elements. They kinda mash of some other genre. Misa's bass brings some funk and jazz into it. One of Kanami's influence is Carlos Santana. Did you guys react to "Play" yet? Both the 2020 and 2018 Live versions are very good. Great reaction guys.

Check out "Secret Maiko Lips" by BAND-MAIKO since you mentioned it. They did it as an April Fools joke putting out a rumor that they were switching their name to "Band-Maiko". Maiko ("my-koh") are Geisha-in-training from the Kyoto area so they put out a video done up as traditional Maiko instead of Maids and sang their song Secret Lips in the Kyoto dialect and with some traditional instrumentation, but then after they released it they revealed it was an April Fools joke. it turned out to be so popular they did it again the following April 1st and even put out a new original song as Band-Maiko. It just goes to show how much fun these girls are having!

As a tribute to Mr. Burns, I would like to see you guys do BAND-MAID Rinne, the MV. It is one of their heaviest songs and I'm sure he will enjoy the drums on it (double kick love!)

And, as for the official fanclub members, the band calls them お盟主様 (O-mei-syu-sama), which I don’t know the official English equivalent.

FYI Band-Maid want You tube reactions they said so on their last US tour on stage........Miku asked the crowd how they got to know about Band-Maid and a lot of the crowd said You Tube reactions and at one of the "Servings" gigs Mr Rock n Roll was their and Akane, Misa and Saiki loved it as Mr Rock N Roll shouted out AHHH KANNN AAAAA. Babymetal due to AMuse being very strict with Copyright they take anything down. But there is some tricks you can use by putting a watermark over video or making it opaque etc Or get content from reactor source. Hope that helps

Try Onset, an instrumental, Kanami shines. Puzzle is incredible, Kanami has so many riffs in it. Other bands could write three songs out of them. Moratorium is a great song, great crowd interaction, riffs. The Dragon cries, is a new song, sung in english, very Zepplin esque.

Ive come to think they have elements of the last 50 years of rock basically. Everything from Deep Purple and Santana, to U2, to Van Halen, Iron Maiden, The Clash, Eurythmics, Metallica, Guns n Roses, etc, etc... throw in a touch of Beatles and The Monkeys. Ha-ha. Its a really impressive tool kit and perhaps the most tightly woven compositions without getting repetitive Ive heard. One thing Ive noticed is Miku mostly plays FULL bar chords at a frantic strumming pace. Very 70s and common in early Punk bands. This contrasts nicely with Kaname's higher tone and almost non-stop riffs. Playing that way has got to be exhausting and surprised her left hand fingers are still so feminine haha. Hope you guys can make the streaming concert tonight. Going to be a helluva party I sounds like.

The pop rock thing, I think comes from a lot of their earlier songs. They sound a little bit like blink 182/green day style rock.
